A huge reason why dream smp had a decline was that once dream was in prison by awsamedude the whole "evil" wars and lore begin to end and there were no wars or fights that intrested any viewers and the dreamsmp started in 2019 meaning that ppl were really free in their time to watch hourly streams and as of 2022 the corona has died down and schools and workplaces now have full 6 days meaning that
personally i think it's declining bc lifesteal has better ideas that they put months of work into, they don't take a while in their videos for other things they usually just get straight to the point. they have more interesting story ideas and planouts as while the dream smp doesn't take the time to plan traps n such for loopholes. they're more in their 20's+ while lifesteal members are mostly under 20, most still in school. if dream smp members posted videos of the smp on their main channel, (like dream) it'd get more views

personally i think the lifesteal smp deserves all the success it gets. No hate to the dream smp however at the end of the day that smp was a huge reason minecraft didnt die again both smps are great

Dream SMP didn't have a lack of lore. It was just very confusing. The fact that dream rarely streamed On His SMP, and Lifesteal smp not being a lore made it more interesting for viewers. Plus the interesting storytelling by the creators is wonderful and annexed viewers.

ClownPierce did die once in lifesteal s2 when killed by spoke whilst participating in Parrot's execution.
He died of hitting the ground too hard when he pearled, not by Spoke.

I think the thing that would bring the dream smp into the spotlight again is if they did a full scale reboot so that anyone who wants to stay involved in lore could stay or leave. It would also help anyone who is tired of being a villain become a hero and maybe come up with better ideas or more fresh ones.
Each season can be a new story with either the same characters with new players and old ones leaving but also some taking changes in character since the last season, I can see that working as a premise itself very well and can differentiate each season with a different story but the problem I see for that is that will some even stay behind. The thing that makes it the dream smp is dream and the other characters that made up the world, if some left then yes, that would be find and can shake things up but if others including dream who is the main person of the dream smp obviously from the name then there would be no reason to call it the dream smp, you might as well call it something else. This can work with a group of people who is willing to place that effort into it but if too little come with too little effort for new stories then it would just be like the thousands of other smps that exist, there would be no difference to give it that charm and appeal .

I think Lifesteal has blown up because of all the people and the fact that it's a youtube centered smp. While some member of LS will stream, the videos are the focus, whereas DSMP is always reuploaded by viewers. Additionally, many people are not fans of scripting. I'm fine with scripting, but I hate seeing people do things out of character when they're acting. If someone on LS does something they shouldn't logically do, it's for the content, not the plot integrity. Lifesteal is also a much more interesting concept as having every death come with permanent, tangible consequences instead of "he's a ghost, we'll revive him later" is much more interesting. Not to mention, Branzy and Rek are just so endearing.

I think a big factor for Dream SMP getting big was the fact that due to the quarantine, people had a lot more time to be watching streams hours at a time. With COVID not being that big of a problem anymore, any lore streams that happen get missed and then we get behind, leading to us not knowing what is going on, eventually getting to the point that we give up trying to keep up. That and the content creators on the server seeming to have moved on from it. I only ever see eret on the server just building or something.
to be honest i much more enjoyed life steal for the unique and utterly random lore and the new faces coming in all the time, as for the dream smp it was nice at the beginning when everyone had the freedom to do anything they wanted but it got boring after the roleplay came to play and lore was top priority
I don't think Dream Smp will be revived. Both TommyInnit and Wilbur Soot said on their streams that they're going to end their characters' storylines soon. People who are here for the lore won't be interested anymore after two of the main characters leave.

I think the thing about the Dream SMP is a lot of people don't have the time for it. When everyone was quarantined everyone had a lot more time on their hands. Now people are traveling and overall busy with stuff.
Personally I don't think I ever cared for Dream SMP when I compare how I feel about Lifesteal. Lifesteal has some story, but you don't need to understand it all to have fun rooting for a trap to work, or even for the creator to not lose a heart.
While i understand your point. I like the dsmp for its extensive lore and storylines

Dream smp has good plot, story line, fights, backstory, and emotion while the lifesteal smp has lifesteal, spoke, and clownpierce. Thats how the lifesteal smp got famous
Imo, DSMP’s focus on lore is a double-edged blade, because many simply won’t be able to keepup with the lore anymore, and it’s like when you watch a movie, you don’t go to watch for the actors anymore, you watch for the roles theyre playing.
It’s not like a movie where the stage is focused around one person, every DSMP has their own tales to tell and that is what makes it the double-edged blade, I have to watch every single one of them that’s streaming if I want to fully figure out any analyze the lore, finding the clues, hint snd foreshadows.
And because it’s all about lore, is why I don’t watch them when theyre not in lore.
Don’t get me wrong, the story of the DSMP lore is great and Wilbur knows how to write a good story, but minecraft is just not a good medium to use as a storyteller.
It was nice in it’s birth, but now I’ve been fed too much of it and I want to return to simpler times.

I think the main reason that life steal gets more searches than the dsmp, is because literally no one is playing or doing anything in the dsmp at the moment. LIFE STEAL ON TOP.
For me, it boils down to *Wasted Potential.*
WilburSoot made some amazing stories as the main story writer, while not perfect, were HIGHLY enjoyable.
Ever since Dream got imprisoned, and the story writer changed, we see great ideas that were underutilized. Stuff like Fundy's betrayal of L'manberg wasn't explored as well as it could have, and more important plot points like the egg were highly underutilized. Perhaps an important character like Skeppy or BadBoyHalo could have been killed off by one of their friends in a tense moment due to them being mind-controlled, since now the idea of _"Anyone could die at any moment"_ didn't seem to be used as often, if not, at all.
Overall, the potential is there, but it was heavily underutilized.

Dreamsmp was more of an smp that was the tales of many characters it’s was popular at the start but since they had big UA-camrs playing on the server most videos would feature the dsmp but the lifesteal smp was much smaller which smaller UA-camrs so… yeah lifsteal is fun also for how genuine it is it’s REAL battles, REAL beat rales and the stronger bond in friendship.
I think the main reason all the dream smp members played a bunch of dream smp and did lore was cause of the pandemic since people couldn’t go out so they had time to watch dream smp members playing on the dream smp

A lot of the hype and the viewers were there until for Dream SMP and until the story picks back up again, they can't make giant videos. To be fair having non scripted videos r better. Dsmp is mostly live and stuff thats not active. Lifesteal has streams and videos. More pvp content and better pvpers in the lifesteal side. Even if none of the lifesteal members have above 1mill even tho dsmp have 500k+ mostly 2mill subs.

i only watched dsmp for technoblade, whilst on the other hand EVERY single creator on the lifesteal smp was entertaining
Being one of the first members to watch lifesteal since season 1 makes me feel good .
Season one was literally one episode and wasn’t even that long ago, since their channel all blew up so fast and everything started not to long ago I don’t really think anyone could say they’re an “OG”. I mean I found parrot on his very first school smp video so I guess i could try to say im OG but I mean, like I said it wasn’t even that long ago lol

i dont think the lifesteal smp beat the dream smp, its just that dsmp is facing a slow decline. the lore kinda got boring after doomsday and everything was so scattered as everyone was writing their own lore and it was rly confusing and i didnt rly want to watch, especially since the streams were either too fast paced or too slow. a lot of ppl who were in the dsmp fandom are also saying that it was better when it was less scripted, and i agree. i think for dsmp to go back to its glory days they shouldn't use weeks to plan giant lore events, but do little lore streams that build up to the big events and see what happens, since lore has been very inconsistent lately. everyone also seemed to work on their own projects instead of contributing to the main lore that is actually exciting and pushes the story forward.
i also dont think monthly searches determines if lifesteal has beaten dsmp, it would only make sense bc nobody was doing lore on the smp (for like 3 months) at the time this vid was released and once theres more lore and if ppl actually contribute to the main lore to push the story forward i believe there would be more searches for dsmp.
(also on a side note tubbo and tommy also joined lifesteal, which i think is going to bring a lot more popularity to it.)

I think the dream smp declined because it was too scripted because in the first wars the creators were given more liberties to do whatever they want but now it’s more scripted they’ve lost all relevantly because they aren’t allowed to take more liberties
I do think the dream smp is dying I would like to see a revival, I also think it has something to do with the world coming out of lock down everyone is super busy again and techno getting cancer doesn't help. I mean you can't escalate a story without a big driving force. #technosupport
I think one big "mistake" dream did on the SMP was the lack of preparation for the end game. The whole no going in the End, no insane farms was a good idea in the earlier parts of the game but once everyone had full netherite it practically couldve been the best and worst idea.
Even if dream allowed to End to be accessible it will only be a short burst of content in like 10 minutes
The 1.18 portal they did was a massive fiesta but it was like for 1 stream and only Philza was grinding it mostly.
This is why SMPs like Lifesteal and Hermitcraft EXCEL since they do seasonal worlds instead of one continuous world.
Seasons helps these two SMPs thrive since every season had a different vibe and personality and gave the creators another way to make content and create instead of doing the same thing over and over again.
And even if they did the usual like. Get armor, get loot, get equipment, get netherite, get elytra, get farms. A seasonal change still made it feel like that it was their first time getting the materials and made it feel refreshing instead of Dream SMPs. "Oh I died welp to stream me getting stuff AGAIN" or "Welp there goes my stuff, glad I have backups" OR "Welp I lost everything, time to do NOTHING to compensate for it or just off-camera it"

@@Thensi72 it DOES, the storyline/plot is in videos AND streams if u watch the members. A recent event is the execution for Princezam(a member) he was banned off the server because of building walls surrounding the Spawn and owning the buildings inside of it, most members didn't like it so they had a huge fight. Zam lost and got banned. They have more plot to watch and the smp is genuinely interesting to watch.

Honestly, Another thing how lifesteal is gaining more veiws is the fact that its so chaotic. I am kinda giving up hermitcraft due to the fact its so modded and sorta staged and less exiting.

Hermitcraft isn't modded but i agree i tried watching hermitcraft but main part is you cannot relate to it i can relate a lot more to it .
To be fair, Hermitcraft doesn't appeal to audiences who want chaos and action, Hermitcraft is more like a chill SMP where builders and redstone engineers make videos in and overall just have fun.

Yes the Lifesteal smp beat the dsmp because do you know why? It's because dsmp has not updated for 2 years. Not only that they can't go to the end, they can't get elytras, they can't build mega bases, they can't make super farms, and they can't updat or restart the server leading to burnout for the players$. The reason the Lifesteal smp is popping off more than the dsmp is because they can do all the things that the dsmp can't. Do you know why it's because the dsmp is a lore based smp. If they could do all the things that the Lifesteal smp could, then all of the stakes of the lore would be non-existent.
Tldr; Lifesteal is beating dsmp because it's simply much more carefree and it let's the players do whatever they want and the server can restart whenever it wants

ok, according to google trends which collects the official youtube data, dream smp is still larger and more searched (in youtube and web search) than the lifesteal smp, it is decreasing his numbers but lifesteal smp didnt beated the dream smp yet (also tommyinnit didnt participated in the lifesteal smp, it was a parody)

everyone talking about stuff, but i can't get over how underrated the egg arc is - i think i am the only person who actually liked that bit of lore
I liked it too! The Puffy/BBH/Skeppy/Techno interactions were my favorite parts, and the blood vine mechanics and Egg mind control were fresh ideas. Red Skeppy was a brilliant improv moment, but BBH couldn't really fit it into the lore. We never knew what the Egg promised BBH and there wasn't a satisfying resolution to the arc.
I havent watched the vid yet but i think its gonna be how they both started, how the dream smp started getting worse, and what lifesteal did to climb

How I would conclude why Lifesteal gained more popularity
1: Better dedication in the smp
2: Extremely good editing
3: Many content creators put their heart to the smp unlike dream smp.
4: Plot Twists happen every now and then
5: Dream was still very overatting at the time and people needed something new.
Do you want to know the true reason why? the dream smp is over and content isnt being made on it. dream hasnt ever really made content on it, tommyinnit hasnt been on it in 2 months, and the other popular members are inactive

The thing I didn’t like about DSMP was the roleplay, personally. That’s the thing that ended up driving me away. I would watch the player’s normal streams but often found myself ignoring anything lore related or even clicking off the stream when that came about. I personally like Life Steal SMP since it doesn’t feel as.. fake, and I’m almost positive that it is barely if not scripted at all. I enjoy just watching people play the game, fight, improve their base, play pranks, etc. rather than all the scripted lines and wars that are totally pointless unless you like lore.
The life steal smp is awesome and I love the content on it. I have to agree that the content on the dream smp is getting pretty dry. I also like the life steal smp better because it’s super interesting, without having scripted lore.

Personally, I'm extremely glad the Dream SMP is on its decline into death. The fanbase was horrific and I hope we see those people fizzle out. I have them on my DNI for a reason. I'm also quite happy that Lifesteal is on the rise. It takes everything the Dream SMP tried to be and made it 100x better. Good relationships between people, engaging and fun to watch wars, backstabbing left and right, insane traps, crazy minds of Minecraft vets, Clown in general. I hope Lifesteal goes on for many more seasons and continues to be great. Good riddance, Dream SMP.

The dream smp hasn't fallen off just not a lot of people are doing lore and going on the server a lot at the moment both servers are good in there own ways

The Dream smp is the most boring thing I have ever watched in my life. Watching Lifesteal is as fun as watching cobra kai or something like that its so insanely fun to just watch the war and anarchy

I actuatly like dsmp more bc ive knew it longer and ive like sometimes heard of lifesteal smp but in really from my respect dsmp might come back bc like there thinking prob of lores and it wasin't that easy

I actually love the dream smp because it has more plot twist and drama wars
i mean since dsmp currently ended lifesteal is obv bigger now, and both servers are great but very diff.
however I still think no mc server will be able to reach the entire internet and not just the Minecraft community like dsmp did
I never watched the Dream smp, and I’ve been Binging lifesteal.
Tbh lifesteal is sick and all but id watch dsmp over it for -4000 dollars even though it ended because techno is gone
