No Xenogears is crazy! The cool ass deathblow combat system and the fact you get to play as a cool Mech in 1998 in a JRPG was a lot more groundbreaking than some of these other games lol
Steve needs a time limit. Calling Final Fantasy VII and FF Tactics and Crash and CTR the same genre and game is crazy. He made this 30 minutes longer than it needed to be.
It was insane how much time he spent defending MTV. It was a 1v3 debate, he needed to accept there was no way it was getting into the top 10 on his stubbornness alone.
He's talking about it in the same about the whole of the console and it's impact. I wouldn't put it past someone in the chat to put the top 4 as all Final Fantasy games.
The fact that Steve was involved in this list makes it entirely false and I demand a redo there is no way in hell you don't have a mainline crash bandicoot and Spyro the dragon on a top 10 PlayStation 1 games list
Max low-key didn't want smash and spyro in. He suggested removing Crash near the end which is just a wild take and that's why it ended up being removed.
I mean i love SOTN one of the best games but come on man GT2 just define the Playstation and push the console to it's limits and the fact that it still played today and the community recently made new mods with new content and experience just shows how great GT2 is Shout out to the A-Spec Mod Team
@@Davethawave1999That’s fair and I’m curious to see the other 8 on their N64 list (outside of LoZ:OoT and Mario 64 which was mentioned earlier), but I’d argue that Crash Team Racing isn’t better than Crash 2 or 3 or any of the Spyro games
So, essentially, all of these lists are just Simmons getting his say and picking the #1 game. On every list, “his” number one ended up on top. Nah. F this.
That debate was fascinating to watch. Definitely worth ruining my sleep schedule for a few days to watch it all live. My personal top 5 would probably be Chrono Cross, Final Fantasy Tactics, Symphony of Night, Tactics Ogre and Tales of Phantasia but I played those games just as much if not more on other systems so I'm not sure that's fair.
PS2 sort of lacks a central game. Gran Turismo 4 >>> 3, but 3 sold way more. God of War had yet to hit its strive. Devil May Cry 3, Ratchet 2/3 are all baller but only did okay. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas was the best-seller, but is it the definitive game? Metal Gear Solid 3 overshadows 2, but 2 sold way more. Tekken 5 was amazing but the PS3 port was better, and Tekken Tag Tournament 1 sold more.
Only Steeb would pick something like MTV Music Generator and defend fiercely. I just love THPS2 made it to top 10 pretty uncontested and the doods don't seem to have even played any THPS.
@CalciumChief THPS2 and that series as a whole isn't just a good game. It's impactful to the point that Tony Hawk became a household name and pushed the skater thing back into mainstream, defining 2000s culture, jackass, clothing like vans. I'd personally put it lower on the top ten, but some of these recommendations like Xenogears and it's not even close. 30 years later and I only just now know what Xenogears is.
My favorite food is also buffet, Max. Also wish more people knew about Pandemonium - that would be a top 10 for me, but mostly because it was one of my mom's favorite PS1 games. It was a solid platformer, though.
"Crash Bandicoot & CTR, Final Fantasy 7 & Tactics, they are the exact same games & we cannot have two games of the same franchise" Your honor, this was verbatim the actual argument presented to you by the prosecution in the omega supreme court proceedings of which Playstation games are to be deleted & banished to your mother's ass. & once again I move to officially make Crash Warped the GOAT of Playstation 1's catalog
I'm glad I came and watched this after the edited version. I was surprised Soul Reaver wasn't on there, but after hearing your argument against, I don't agree but I do concede to the point regarding the puzzles and general combat. They're not great. I just wish it would have been acknowledged how revolutionary the shifting was as well as the lack of load times. Still, glad it was at least mentioned. The biggest surprise on the list, for me, was Bloody Roar 2. I love Bloody Roar and wish the franchise would make a comeback. So to hear it even get mentioned was really cool. Love the group videos. It makes me wish I could convince my friends to do something similar.
I was thinking that the whole time. After FF7, I would have gone Mega Man X4 then Brave Fencer Musashi. That game is amazing. It's honestly exactly what I wanted from a 3d 32 bit game.
honestly demo disks are some of the most nostalgic things you can play, theyre a total time capsule and especially jampack and the vault had the craziest secrets and hidden games. i remember getting one that had that fromsoftware game and irritating stick in japanese still because it wasnt ported over
Saying this now before watching and didn't watch the live stream, if Twisted Metal one or II didn't make this im gonna be very sad. I will literally not argue any other choice as long as TM is there
It was great to have to Steeb in this convo. No one wants a unanimous 15 minute decision on literally the top 10 of Playstation, its inherently meant to debated about.
As an avid boxing fan, I know why Mike Tyson got that tattoo. From his own mouth, he said he found out about the Maori tribes in New Zealand and really admired their style of tattoos, so he got one like it.
We all know GT2 is top five, but with these guys, I’d just be happy to be on that list! Also props to Simmons for being pretty reasonable throughout the whole thing.
Well, as they said, that’d just be a discussion between Max and Simmons and I think they’d pretty much be in agreement the entire time with very little debate
The way Steve pops up from behind the chair "was it 2 or 1?" having been distracted by Kenny on his phone and Max flippin the pen completely caught me off guard 🤣
I argue that the demo disc argument is valid if you septic which demo disc . I remember Pizza Hut and dominoes having differences in also remembering that one disc with tekken 3 crash 3 grand tourismo and that weird ninja game
As Xenogears is my favorite game of all time, I can understand why it wouldn't be on this list. I wish it had at least been represented, but Simmons is the only RPG player in the group, and he doesn't like the game. Such is life. As for what was there, my only "gripe" (and I use that term extremely lightly) is FFVII above MGS. I love FFVII (it's my second-favorite in the franchise after X), but I don't think it's as fully realized as MGS is. MGS single-handedly created the modern stealth action genre, pioneering an entire gameplay style and nearly perfecting it on its platform in the same stroke. It also had a quality of cinematography and voice acting that was nearly unheard of at the time. FFVII, on the other hand, used a good but derivative battle system: the ATB system was being used for the fourth game in a row, and materia was basically a (better) iteration of the esper system from FFVI. The minigames, while full of personality and charm, were clunky at best and damn-near unplayable at worst. From a visual perspective, it's great; however, there are a lot of people out there that don't share my love for chunky polygon figures, and that's how the characters will look the majority of the time you're playing. I could go on, but I'll put it like this: if FFVII is such a perfectly realized, best of its class experience, then why were people clamoring, nay, BEGGING, for a remake? Because, despite how great it was and still is, it was full on unrealized potential. MGS was basically as perfect as it could be when it came out.
You know when I saw this video and saw that Steve was in it and it was twice as long as the Dreamcast video, I was like “oh geez, Steve is gonna make some controversial calls.” Little did I know that it would be Max and his slaughter of Oddworld before Kenny could defend it would be the most savage thing, and Steve would be the unsung hero for breaking the tie between FF7 and MGS.
I'm a hardcore MM fan and I'll even fight them on that, imo at least Zero 3 is the best Mega Man game, as much as I love X4. Also Legends 2 got hella snobbed, I'd put it in top 30 at least!
Wonder what the Xbox 360 list would look like 10 years from now. These guys don't play fallout or Skyrim. Cod4 would be there and gta4/5 if Steve shows up.
No one bought or played a PlayStation for ff tactics sorry not sorry I get it's a personal list but driver 2 was way better a lot of people didn't even know ff tactics existed until they seen the demo disc in tobal no.1 . Driver 2 was an amazing game and a lot more people played it it's a genre defining game ff tactics is just another RPG on PS1 . 7 belongs but tactics nah . That's a personal choice I get but that would never make an actual top 10 no shot .
What about pepsi man, winning eleven, fifa and wrestling games

I prefer vandal hearts over ff tactics and i like ff7 but it would be nostalgia speaking and the story was great but when it comes to gameplay i would definitely put ff8 over 7
Ok, for the record, I own BAT 2 remix for the Sega Saturn. That explains why it didn't make the Saturn 10 games. Soul Blade was a good fighting game for its day.

Uh oh, Steeb's here, and the video is over two hours...
Steeb was basically necessary in any of these types of videos.
"We're going to let this man finish, so I can cook him." Continues to interrupt 😂
Steeb is da goat
we need chaos and disturbance 😂
kenny is honestly ruthless in these. mad respect. he'll kill his own game to get another one that he knows doesnt belong
Steve needs a time limit. Calling Final Fantasy VII and FF Tactics and Crash and CTR the same genre and game is crazy. He made this 30 minutes longer than it needed to be.
And it was the double and triple down for me, after the Doods explained why his argument was not valid at all
It was insane how much time he spent defending MTV. It was a 1v3 debate, he needed to accept there was no way it was getting into the top 10 on his stubbornness alone.
Steeb moment
Well you know its just steeb arguing... he doesnt know how😂
If Stadia hired steeb to sold the "experience" they would still be in business LMAO
Bruh, what is up with Steve’s logic? Like… WTF? His argument of “same franchise” has got to be the most whack ass argument I’ve ever heard
He's talking about it in the same about the whole of the console and it's impact.
I wouldn't put it past someone in the chat to put the top 4 as all Final Fantasy games.
Are we doing another console soon?
I love these debates.
Steve saying tactics and ff7 is the same genre is like saying all asians look alike
The fact that Steve was involved in this list makes it entirely false and I demand a redo there is no way in hell you don't have a mainline crash bandicoot and Spyro the dragon on a top 10 PlayStation 1 games list
💯
Max low-key didn't want smash and spyro in. He suggested removing Crash near the end which is just a wild take and that's why it ended up being removed.
Kenny defending Gran Turismo 2 is the best part of this video.
I would have defended it too. But I admit that I’m heavily biased.
I mean i love SOTN one of the best games but come on man GT2 just define the Playstation and push the console to it's limits and the fact that it still played today and the community recently made new mods with new content and experience just shows how great GT2 is
Shout out to the A-Spec Mod Team
Still have GT2.

Playstation List + Steeb: 2:26:58
Absolutely wild that Crash and Spyro aren’t in the top 10
Meh. For Platformers and multiplayer the N64 was the system to go to. Everything else the PS1 covered
Honestly, the PSX library is so stacked, you could probably do a Top Ten for every genre and STILL have trouble cutting stuff out.
So, essentially, all of these lists are just Simmons getting his say and picking the #1 game. On every list, “his” number one ended up on top. Nah. F this.

Simmons is the voice of reason.
Right. I had a conversation with him before. He is
I realized why I like these: they're like episodes of Sunny. Those guys are always having wacky delegations

I love FF7. It was the first rpg I ever beat. I also believe that FF9 is better in almost every regard.
Kenny up in here dripped tf out. Save sum ladies for the rest of us
@27:25 I was waiting for that question from Steeb!

Incredible game good call
It would make it on mine
You guys need a camera on the board i cant read that shit unless im on 82" tv
Oh this is gonna be fun
Also respect Kenny for defending GT2
I WAS WAITING FOR THIS
I haven't played tactics, but it'd have to be pretty epic to be in the top 10 over Final Fantasy 9

Just the fact that max mentioned breath of fire 3 makes me happy😂
This is gonna be Max debating FF7 being number 1! For at least an hour
2 minutes in and I think we have our top 3 right there. List done! Oh.... the video is almost 2 hours 30 mins long...
FFT is better in War of the Lion (PSP)
Better translation, Multiplayer, Endgame dungeon, better cutscene. Dark Knight playable as generic job in PSP.
Yes. I agree. Max agrees too. He enjoyed the shit of it. So did I.
first of kudos for kenny being constantly the most visual in the group.

FF7. RE2. MGS. The holy trinity. It's no surprise they came up first.
So no valkyrie profile? :(
final fantasy tactics, symphony of the night, megaman x6, crash bandicoot, tekken 3 are my favorites. wish t3 got a release in modern consoles

Nevermind I just got to that part. I'd take Rival Schools over Tekken 3 for me personally.
FF7 over MGS? Y'all are definitely smokin somethin.
Jackie chan stuntmaster, tai fu wrath of tiger, parasite eve

I'm a hardcore MM fan and I'll even fight them on that, imo at least Zero 3 is the best Mega Man game, as much as I love X4. Also Legends 2 got hella snobbed, I'd put it in top 30 at least!
Xenogears is the best and disc 2 is the best part of the game. People really wanted the cut content of: more dragged out dungeons?
How is Psychon not on the top 10? An absolute gem on Net Yaroze.
I would add Vagrant Story and Vandal Hearts.
