Evidently the mask landed a cartoon a good 3 seasons as well along with a few crossovers with another fabulous Jim Carrey role Ace Ventura pet detective
Chuck Russell revealed that a lot of money was saved on special effects after Jim Carrey was cast. Carrey's body movements were so flexible and cartoonish, they didn't see the need to enhance them digitally
One of my favorite technical aspects of this movie besides the cgi that still holds up so well has to be the lighting. its so definitively 90s, in the daytime its warm and hazy, lots of beige neutral colors and ppl wearing slick wardrobes with shapes and patterns and the nighttime so much neons going on, most noticeably blues & purples and hints of greens & reds it contrasts so well with the green of the mask and his suits. This is a movie where a lot of its awesomeness comes from the time it was made in and the artistic choices came from the trends of the time, for instance music. in the 90s, 40s swing music with modern take was a trend it was pretty bad and very short lived but in this movie it works perfectly, now when i ever hear 90s swing music I think of the Mask. so many things this movie had going for it that makes it impossible to be duplicated.
If I were them, I would be scared, too. Imagine chasing some weird guy and, in the next second, you catch him dressed this way with this show appeared from nowhere. And the way he yells: MOVE IT! This scene is creepy af anddddd I just can't help laughing. 😂❤😮
@@al.s.3277 no, but I think with the Oscars getting less uppity about nominating certain genres, he would’ve definitely been nominated today. Like RDJ in TT, can’t imagine another actor doing it.
2:30 I know that the earlier scene implies that they were ripping him off, but I like how in this scene the insinuation is that they've been working late at the shop all night, finally get some time to sit down for dinner, and then this maniac comes in a destroys the place for no good reason just because he's annoyed at how long and expensive the repair is going to be.
This movie, dumb and dumber, and Ace Ventura was Jim Carrey's trifecta making bank on all 3 movies and he will forever be my favorites and one day I will show my kids these
I remember reading the novelization of this movie as a kid and Stanley had actually run into these thugs the day before during which they stole his watch hence the line “got the time?” And how he dealt with them later as the mask. This scene was also in the comics but Big Head straight up murders everyone in that
I wonder if they've considered a sequel/reboot of The Mask that's more comic accurate a.k.a.VERY dark and violent, with Jim Carrey returning. I have no idea if it'd be bad or good, but it'd be... interesting.
I love how the driver just casually drove away like nothing happened after getting all his windows blown out.
Traumatized for life
He was probably gonna sell it anyways.
If someone was able to blast out all my windows with some kind of crazy sonic weapon, id cut my losses too and drive away while I could.
I’d just take the bus the rest of my life
He probably figured the cops wouldn't believe him anyway.
Jim’s style of acting makes him right for this role. He can be himself because he’s already a cartoon 😂

First comment on imdb trivia lol
And this was in 1994. The technology back then was very limited.
Which they did in the second movie, right?
thats awesome jim carrey was meant , he was born with this talent

1:53. That effect of the balloon morphing into the Tommy gun is still amazing to this day.
Funny too.

Amazing! I've always seen the Mask as a sort of neo-noir and the lighting/music definitely work on its favor.
This movie is just perfect my joven amigo

This scene is so hilarious, Jim Carrey did an excellent performance in this film 😂💯
Jim Carrey is the greatest impressionist. The greatest impersonator. The greatest character actor. He would have killed the Joker role
Poor guy’s face @ 1:38 just kills me after the French poodle 🐩 dies! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Sorry, son. The dog was rabid. Had to put it down. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I was thinking the same thing! Like he was so sad he couldn't get a dog, he looked like a sad kid!
LMAO he was so disappointed
That was just mean bro
He looked really sad lol
Jim Carrey was born for this role like Ryan Reynolds for Deadpool
And Ledger as Joker
Imagine an interaction between the mask and Deadpool
Imagine deadpool teaming up with the mask.

the guys face when his balloon puppy pops actually makes me feel so bad for him 😭
Jim Carey felt so comfortable playing those roles and having fun with them 😂😂😂
its crazy to think this guy also played an evil genius bent on catching a blue hedgehog
I love how the thug looks genuinely sad after the balloon animal popped.
I know this is a comedy film, but when the Tommy gun is revealed, the vibe is just EPIC!!!

This is based on a scene from the comic, except there he kills the guys instead of just scaring them.
