This video is brilliant. Truly brilliant. Everything I love, admire, and appreciate in Vampire Weekend is summed up in this video. I have never been able to put this Trilogy concept into words but I’ve always thought about it. This video is amazing.
Is it weird to say that this video gave me goosebumps? Love your insights on music and the world! Also, I know she's relatively new, but it'd be awesome if you did a video on Maggie Rogers! Keep up the good work dude!
okay, so that was a seriously great video. Your retrospective made me reflect not only on the vampire weekend trilogy, but also on the decade of my life that unfolded while I was listening to it.
I was so looking forward to this video, it's excellent. I always learn something new when I watch a video on this channel, honestly it's one of my favourite channels on youtube, all the way from Ireland. Contra is probably my favourite just because of Diplomat's Son, but Modern Vampires of the City has Hannah Hunt. I think they're both modern masterpieces.
Modern Vampires of the city felt like I had been suffocating my entire life. It’s meta, present and post modern. It blemishes anyone’s understanding of rock and pop music and take all that into a whole different level. When it was announced that Rostum left. It’s like a hole was created in the space time continuum. I hope he goes back to VW one day….but I respect what the band and Rostum are doing on their own. Legends in their own time.
Contra's gotta be my top, both the music and the lyrics are complex and consistently brilliant. Each song has an amazing sense of character. (Which could be said for any one of their albums) Father of the Bride is definitely a new chapter for them, I like the open-ended nature of the video and the inclusion of the Haruomi Hosono song used in '2021' as the background music. Very well done video!
I discovered Vampire Weekend before I went to college in 2016 & fell in love with their music as I was transitioning from HS to College. Father of the Bride is a phenomenal album, & now I’m gonna see them perform in Austin this August & I cannot be more excited!
Such a beautiful production! I love your channel and you put their trilogy in a fully concise and (IMO) accurate depiction! It’s hard choosing a favorite because, like you said, each one is a different chapter of where the world was, and how they saw it! BUT..if I must, I think I had Modern vampires on repeat the most! BUT THIS NEW RECORD THO??? I’d love to hear you do a review because it’s SUCH a lovely album in my opinion
Your videos are so, so good. Everything I've seen so far is above most professionally released full music documentaries, and they make me both feel and think so much. Also, I've always loved the first VW album but never moved on to the second and third. I will do that now.

John Heilemann mentioned FOTB off the cuff the day it was released on Morning Joe, probably a few days or a week or so before Malcom appeared (never heard of the band before that). After hearing John, who I like, appear so excited by it, I thought Hmmm.....and so began my obsession. There was a treasure to discover and 2024 I'm still not over them.

You should do a video on The Lumineers! Their new songs and videos tell such an awesome story
Love all 3 albums, but the first means a lot to me because when I discovered it I was really depressed and that album helped me cope through hard times.
Great video!
