Your video answered so many of my questions. Thanks!
Looks really good
Wow !
Thank you ❤
I’m new to your channel! Can’t wait to try this bread-this weekend!!!
Lengthy process but worth it because that sourdough came out looking absolutely delicious. Great job!!
Thanks Stacy!
yeee girl! you got it down. best video ive seen, thank you thank you thank you:)))
Girlllll this was PERFECT!!! Posted it on my GF sourdough page and it’s blowing up!!!
Aw thank you!!
Is your page on FB or UA-cam??at I join??
@@motherfreethinker Yes! I have a Facebook page. facebook.com/MadisonLoethen/
Can you do a video how to make the sourdough starter please thank you .... your the best!
I have a blog post about how I did mine! madisonloethen.com/gluten-free-sourdough-starter-no-discard/
Sigh…I’m having the same problem. Still gummy even with longer baking.
It doesn’t have much rise to it
Thanks for the video. Bob's Red Mill is my default gf flour. It is so much better than any other blend I've tried! I'm so glad to find a recipe that uses it directly! Do you have a video about how you did your no-discard starter?
Sry I don't have a video but I do have a blog post: madisonloethen.com/gluten-free-sourdough-starter-no-discard/
@@MadisonLoethen Okay. Thanks! I made my own starter and am trying this recipe today. I was just curious about yours. I have so much to learn! Thanks again for sharing! 🙂
@@sarahr4189 yay! Best of luck!
Your scale is so cute!! Where did u get it? I'm about to start my gluten-free sourdough journey I can feel it!!!! My hubby will be so happy, he went gf last year and feels so much better. I have dehydrated starter I've just been working up the courage to work with it, especially with our first baby on the way❤
Good luck with everything!
First time trying sourdough. Unfortunately I didn't have enough starter but I had everything else already measured so I used some of my discard. I guess we'll see what happens
Hi! I loved this recipe and it is the best I’ve found yet! The only issue I had is my loaf came out gummy with a hard crust (the crust doesn’t bother me though). I saw that you recommended leaving the dough in the oven covered 10 minutes longer. Would this make the crust even harder too? I’m worried that if I leave it in the oven longer that the crust will be way too hard. Thanks!!
Yes! I would try in the oven covered 10 extra minutes and be sure to let it cool completely before cutting in ❤️
I have to try this!!!
Do you have to refrigerate it overnight before baking or could you go ahead and bake it.
You can go ahead and bake it after one counter proof if you time it differently than me! The sourdough flavor may just be not quite as strong.
I hope adding a bit of honey was okay to add?? Mine is on counter resting & rising!! Yes ill go to your blog as well!! thanks for sharing!! 😊
I haven't tried that but I think it'd be ok!
Subscribed tho❤
In your video Horigen can you say my plz or momcozy S12 pro ? For feeding more?
I’m sorry I don’t understand the question
Do you feed your starter with the GF 1-1 flour as well?
Yes!
Do you have a list of the ingredients? I want to make sure I have the measurements correct. So excited to try this!
I have a link to the printable recipe in the bio!
if bobs red mill 1-1 has xanthan gum in it already, why do you need to add more?
I've got a starter working that's using Bob's Red Mill brown rice flour. Could I use that starter with King Arthur measure to measure white gluten-free flour to make a bread what do you have to stay with the same type of grain with your flour
I think it would work!
What size dutch oven do you use for bread making?
I think mine is a 7qt!
Do you make gluten free starter the same way you make regular starter?
Pretty much! It’s did a no discard method: madisonloethen.com/gluten-free-sourdough-starter-no-discard/
Christ I’m glad I watched this video. I really did have a fear of kitchen scales.
They're not as hard as they look!
Where I can find the recipe for Starter?
Here you go! pin.it/63cOpIR5p
If I don’t own a Dutch oven, what other pans can I use?
I've heard of people covering a pot with foil, but I haven't personally tried it
What about in the warmer parts of the summer?
Might be fine with a shorter proofing time ❤️
@@MadisonLoethen that’s what I was thinking. Currently making this bread as we speak. 🩷🩷🩷
@@farmgirlfromscratch yay!
I don’t have that machine. Is that mandatory? Also, do you think any other flour will work? Rice flour? I have Caputo brand gluten free flour. Do you think this could work? Thank you 🙏🏼
You can hand kneed! Just do it about 5 min. I think other 1:1 flours would work but I don't know that any non-flour blend would
@@MadisonLoethen thank you Madison.
Can this be made in a loaf pan? Silicone one? Would it need to be covered?
Sry I haven’t tried that so I’m not sure!
Do you have a recipe making your starter?
@@rd7724 Yes! Here you go: madisonloethen.com/gluten-free-sourdough-starter-no-discard/
I know absolutely nothing about baking sourdough, but I have come in possession of a sourdough starter that I was told to feed using King’s arthur Gluten free 1:1 flour no water. Now, I have some questions. How do I know if my starter is health? Do I have to feed my starter and then wait for a period of time and then use it or can I just use it out of my fridge/ How often should I feed my starter? How much do I discard? How much of water and flour do I feed it? Can I use my starter in any gluten free sourdough recipie? I can only find the sandwhich bread recipe from King Arthur but I don’t want to make sandwhich loaves.
Sorry for all of the questions but if anyone in the comments can answer any number of these I’d be so greatful as I am lost and my some people in my family have celiac disease and I don’t want to poison them over the holidays. I’ve tried searching the internet but I keep getting confusing and contradicting answers.
There’s deff more than one way to do things but here’s a link to my blog post about how I did my starter: madisonloethen.com/gluten-free-sourdough-starter-no-discard/
If your starter is dry I'd take out half and add filtered water to make a gooy dough. Let that sit until bubbles form then use it as your start. If you have just a tablespoon of starter left in your jar add equal amounts of water n flour put back in refrigerator. Don't discard any.
My Dutch oven says it’s safe up to 400 f 😭 do I adjust the time of baking?
O interesting! Yeah I’m sure you could bake it longer on that temp
HELP! 😥 I’ve made this bread twice now, both times the loaves have been super gummy. I’ve followed the recipe to a T! What am I doing wrong? Thank you all for any tips and advice you can provide this newbie!
Different ovens can create different results. I'd add an extra 10 minutes to it covered and see if that does the trick. Also remember to let it cool a few hours before cutting in!
Same issue, super gummy. Thermometer said internally it was at around 210° at the end of a suggested cook time. Fail.😢
@@cindygordon7745 Did you let it cool enough before cutting in? I'd recommend a full 4 hours of counter time
You probably did not use starter in your ingredients
Hi I tried this bread today. Though taste was good, the crust was pretty hard and inside it was gummy after letting it cool for 5 hours. And it’s heavy bread too.
what about using a bantan ?
You can deff do that! I’d do it in the refrigeration step
Is there a recipe written or did I miss the link?
madisonloethen.com/easy-gluten-free-sourdough-bread/ ❤️
Hi there you said this recipe is a tiny bit versatile. My dough keeps turning out extremely sticky. It looks nothing like your dough, Could I reduce the amount of water by 20 g and up the amount of flour by 20 g?
I’d maybe cook it covered an extra 10 minutes covered and see if that solves the issue
What flour did you use? Did you retry it? I’d love to try but I’m so hesitant😩😩
@@danielagentile8049 I use the Bob's Red Mill GF 1:1!
@@MadisonLoethen thank you. I don’t have that, I have Gluten free 00 Caputo flour brand on hand (used to make pizza, bread, cookies) think that would work? I also have white rice flour, but I don’t know if that would work.
No use bobs red mill
Does anyone here use steam (water in a bowl)…in the oven while cooking this bread? I am curious if it is ok to do this with gluten free sourdough. I cook regular sourdough this way…and I was wondering if I can use steam with this recipe as well :).
I do but I have been using a different recipe that is very similar. I add 3 large ice cubes just before putting the bread in the oven, quickly closing the lid.
Yes. Steam for oven spring is ok w gf
I followed your recipe exactly and the dough was super wet, anything I can do different?
Try adding an extra 10 minute of baking time covered. Different ovens can have different results.
How do you bake the bread in the oven if you put it in the oval shaped basket 🤔
Take it out of the basket first ha. It’ll just have those pretty marks on it from the basket
@@MadisonLoethen thank you!have you considered making a video of how you make your starter??
@@briserbie ah i wish I had done that! I just have kept my same one alive and haven't need to make another ha. Maybe I could make another just for the video though.
@MadisonLoethen yes please! Im following your online recipe right now to make my very first starter! Day 1-5 you mentioned adding 1 tbsp water & flour, then day 5-7 1/4th of flour and water. This may go over my head but I can't tell how much to really do on day 5( 1 tbsp or 1/4th), or is it just based on your gut which amount to go with for day 5?
@@briserbie o goodness thank you i'll go fix that! You can start doing the 1/4 on day 5.
I can’t find your recipe for this
Here you go! madisonloethen.com/easy-gluten-free-sourdough-bread/
For how long can i keep the starter? Shelf life
Forever! Just feed it once a week.
@@MadisonLoethen wow.. thank u so much
