Seeing this should make the Pokémon player base realize just how much potential this series really has. Haven't watched the video yet but the ultimate flex would be to do any amount of efficiency optimization on the code you used so that you could fit the remade game into less space than is necessary for a Nintendo Switch cartridge. One of Game Freak's biggest shortcomings is and always has been clearly their inability to optimize their code for space. Even as far back as gens 1 & 2 they struggled with this. Though it was very impressive that they managed to fit as much of these games as they did into as little space as is on a GameBoy cartridge, it wasn't until Satoru Iwata came along that they were even able to fit Gen 2 onto the cartridge and he saved so much space that they were able to add Kanto to the games as well. I fully believe that this is entirely possible to do. Bonus points of you add custom "high quality animations" for each Pokemon to use. You'd be an absolute legend if you did so and also managed to fit it into less space than they did.

Better is definitely relative, as long as they have Pokémon by the balls, they will continue to put out whatever they want and know that they are going to make money on it. Much more money since the games don’t need to bother with silly unimportant things like how the game looks or runs
@@THGMR-ox7sd did… did you hear it? “They DO care, they just DON’T do the things that would constitute caring” To be fair to you I am exaggerating but still. Im not the typical critic to complain about all aspects of everything just to be contrarian, but even if the game isn’t visually perfect… it should WORK
Your remake was smooth! That object-oriented programming thing is why there are so many Pokémon fan games, Pokémon themselves are shockingly easy to program compared to the intricate enemy ai in many other games. Based on this, I can confirm that the Sky Pillar (Japanese: 空の柱 Sky Pillar) is a building in Hoenn. It is located on the northern edge of Route 131 in Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire, Pokémon Emerald, and Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. Rayquaza appears at the top of the Sky Pillar, and in Emerald, it will disappear completely after it has been either caught or defeated. It includes the tower itself, as well as a cave with no wild encounters that is directly connected to Route 131. In the Generation III games, the land on top of the island the Sky Pillar is located on, which is traversed after exiting the cave but before entering the tower, is a part of the Sky Pillar; in the Generation VI games, this area is instead part of Route 131.
A true Pokémon Red/Blue interpretation of the Pokéball missing the Pokémon, lol. “You missed the Pokémon!” line from the game has haunted me for years when trying to catch Mewtwo back then.
This is such an awesome project!! Personally I think this style of graphics doesn’t really work with Pokémon too well, but I’d be really interested to see what it would look like using nice textures/lighting with stylized cartoony shaders
I don't even want to jear the community say they want this, because the minute this became a thing there would be videos about us "Deserving better". This is cool AF though.
There's a man who has artistic vision, He's showing up Nintendo with each decision, He makes it in a flash, And all the assets clash, Do his artistic skills know no boundaries? Nintendo, hire this man, Nintendo, hire this man, He's using Unreal Engine in any way he can
gamefreak would never hire him, they absolutely hate somebody out doing them, look back at gen 3 when Genius sonority made there games, it made gamefreak seethe so much they refuse to talk about to this day nor hire any of those devs. Allot of those devs moved on and started working for HAL on various kirby games and smash bros
if you ever plan on revisiting this specific area, and making it more into a 'game' (or you just want some fun trivia) in the pokemon adventures manga, sky piller is actually 50 stories high and is used for Wally's training, so you could turn this concept into more of a challenge/gauntlet.
Game Freak or Nintendo, I don’t know who’s responsible for holding back Pokémon from becoming something more in the gaming world. But this just goes to show that it could be so much better!
@@ProtoBrown This was probably done by a single person or small team. Now imagine if a company like Nintendo tried using it. Or even cared enough to make Pokémon with higher frame rates.
For a AAA studio. This is big riggs territory. For one guy and a week. Pretty darn impressive. Really puts into perspective how much work it takes to make a game.
I’m convinced that gamefreak isn’t lazy, they just don’t have the talent in their studio to make 3D games. They claim a lot of dev work goes into the Pokémon themselves, which to be fair is complex work, but they could easily hire or outsource the environment work to another studio.
@@Epsil0nify Bingo. Their games reek of both inexperience (which at some point isn't an excuse anymore) and just capability. The developers just don't have the skill to make games like other development teams would. They never graduated to 3D game development. Not in any effective way.
@@Epsil0nify Nope it is the fact, that you can earn a huge profit while delivering garbage. Pokemon is as far as I know, the only game franchise that will sell you the same game under a different name. Even Fifa has to wait 1 year to pull this stunt, meanwhile they just release Pokemon Dk and Pokemon Pssy and exclude some pokemons just for you to buy both games to have a full pokedex. Somehow nobody really cared about their bullshit greedy mechanics, the same plot since over 10yrs now. Boy gets 1 of 3 pokemon, boy has 1 rival and a friend, boy fights arenas to go and fight the elite, boy has 2 rival teams, boy has to save the planet because the rivals have legendary pokemons.
From what I understand, the engine the games natively run on is a hellscape of pain (except for bdsp on unity), I've always wondered why they didn't just do exactly this
I agree, it seems it mostly works for the 3DS games (barely an pop-in for example), and yet it seems that the graphics and performance makes it feel they are still being run in the 3DS - they need a new engine badly, and that would take time that won't be maxing profits for them (as just a matter of fact it's still bought by tens of millions).
Yeah pretty embarrassing on the pokemon company honestly 😭 especially with all the money they make it’s insane to me they can’t make their games better or at least hire a better company to make these games
Theoretically someone could do this relatively quick with the pokemon minecraft mod. The game mechanics are already all polished for that even with npc trainers/shops and PCs. All someone needs to do is build the areas, place the npcs, and turn routes into biomes and set the pokemon spawning parameters for each route. Definitely doable.
Pokemon company a multi billionaire company they can put voice over on all pokemon animations on battles like the show and voice over for people but they wont oh that's the easy part
@@droid4d279 Why do people bash specifically pokémon for this, not having voice-overs in dialogue is very, _very_ common in RPGs 😭 The one reason I could think to criticize something like this would be the fact that they don't have voice acting for the animated cutscenes, which is a little awkward, but it's not like it's a huge deal.
@@QuokkaWaka Recent RPGs though I notice to have more voice acting now (even 2.5D games like Octopath Traveller 2)...I'd argue voice acting at least helps a lot when their characters animations are pretty sub par. EDIT: I do agree at the very least cutscenes should have dialogue, with snippet voices for others (see Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope).

Nice bro , I've never used Unreal but it looks organized and easy, will have to give it a try. Does make you wonder where the millions of $ of development go , when you can do just as good with models and a couple spare hours

Better is definitely relative, as long as they have Pokémon by the balls, they will continue to put out whatever they want and know that they are going to make money on it. Much more money since the games don’t need to bother with silly unimportant things like how the game looks or runs
@@WiseOakDakota I love how he says in Gen 20
@@WiseOakDakota Gen 20 would be 42 years from now
@@WiseOakDakota but they do care, they just don’t put enough time into it and don’t delay the games.

That T-Shirt is awesome, the deer sunglasses combo is a total vibe Jesse
How don't you have more subscribers you deserve it
This is amazing!! I know it needs some polishing but as a fan project you did an awesome job man
Your remake was smooth!

I have no idea about programming but I felt nice to hear you talk about it so passionately and to watch god graphics Pokemon.
I respect the hell out of you bro made a whole scene of a Pokémon game look better than Pokémon did themselves W
First watch of the New Year. Am not disappointed
Same
I love the way he catches pokemon when the pokeball completely misses the pokemon.
A true Pokémon Red/Blue interpretation of the Pokéball missing the Pokémon, lol.
“You missed the Pokémon!” line from the game has haunted me for years when trying to catch Mewtwo back then.
This is awesome! And Happy New Year! 🎊🍾
This is such an awesome project!! Personally I think this style of graphics doesn’t really work with Pokémon too well, but I’d be really interested to see what it would look like using nice textures/lighting with stylized cartoony shaders
great video homie. not just in the actual idea but the content was top tier!
I don't even want to jear the community say they want this, because the minute this became a thing there would be videos about us "Deserving better". This is cool AF though.
Bro awesome work you are amazing!
There's a man who has artistic vision,
He's showing up Nintendo with each decision,
He makes it in a flash,
And all the assets clash,
Do his artistic skills know no boundaries?
Nintendo, hire this man,
Nintendo, hire this man,
He's using Unreal Engine in any way he can
Nintendo fans try not to say hire fans every time someone makes a build in Unreal Engine challenge
gamefreak would never hire him, they absolutely hate somebody out doing them, look back at gen 3 when Genius sonority made there games, it made gamefreak seethe so much they refuse to talk about to this day nor hire any of those devs. Allot of those devs moved on and started working for HAL on various kirby games and smash bros
After what happened to PointCrow, it's morel likely that this man gets copyrighted
NINTENDO!!!!
Amazing! You even simulated the animation speed of diamond and pearl!
But seriously good job. I really enjoyed the video. Keep at it man!
This is a really cool concept! I think with more polish it would easily surpass what pokemon is capable of! (in some aspects it already has)
Holy crap I thought this channel had 4mil subs cause that makes more sense than 4k??? Insane video and execution
if you ever plan on revisiting this specific area, and making it more into a 'game' (or you just want some fun trivia) in the pokemon adventures manga, sky piller is actually 50 stories high and is used for Wally's training, so you could turn this concept into more of a challenge/gauntlet.
🤓
1 man did this! You blew my mind. Good job!
Cool graphics, I like how you accurately captured the frame rate of Scarlet/Violet
This is a awesome video! Been watching you forever
Absolutely incredible. Some people in the world are so talented. Thank you for this
cool stuff. subbed.
Game Freak or Nintendo, I don’t know who’s responsible for holding back Pokémon from becoming something more in the gaming world. But this just goes to show that it could be so much better!
That it can look like a generic unreal engine project?
@@ProtoBrown This was probably done by a single person or small team. Now imagine if a company like Nintendo tried using it. Or even cared enough to make Pokémon with higher frame rates.
This isn't better lmao
@@quorryraphael9980 Didn’t say it was, my boy. I said, “..it could be so much better.”
@@Red_EyedSV runs badly because the Switch is rendering a whole ocean as well
I'm convinced fans with the technical know-how can make the best Pokemon game ever. Far better than gamefreak.
For a AAA studio. This is big riggs territory. For one guy and a week. Pretty darn impressive. Really puts into perspective how much work it takes to make a game.
I agree! It also puts into perspective how lazy game freak is. Putting out the garbage that they do.
@@Mopsie Makes gamefreak look even worse when you find out that a minecraft pokemon mod did this years ago and is completely polished.
People with money enough to stop world hunger VS a guy with a desktop and accessories. really loved this it was awesome!
From what I understand, the engine the games natively run on is a hellscape of pain (except for bdsp on unity), I've always wondered why they didn't just do exactly this
Prolly has to do with hardware i don’t think the switch could run unreal engine
I agree, it seems it mostly works for the 3DS games (barely an pop-in for example), and yet it seems that the graphics and performance makes it feel they are still being run in the 3DS - they need a new engine badly, and that would take time that won't be maxing profits for them (as just a matter of fact it's still bought by tens of millions).

You worked harder on this than game freak did with scarlet and violet. So freaking cool!!
Yeah pretty embarrassing on the pokemon company honestly 😭 especially with all the money they make it’s insane to me they can’t make their games better or at least hire a better company to make these games
Legends Arceus flashbacks of legendary opposing pokemon wiping out your team as they come in before you can attack
Now I want a full remake🔥
Theoretically someone could do this relatively quick with the pokemon minecraft mod.
The game mechanics are already all polished for that even with npc trainers/shops and PCs.
All someone needs to do is build the areas, place the npcs, and turn routes into biomes and set the pokemon spawning parameters for each route.
Definitely doable.
This is such a cool and interesting concept! Keep it up man!
With a larger team dedicated to this, playing a full Pokémon game like this could be really badass
Pokemon company a multi billionaire company they can put voice over on all pokemon animations on battles like the show and voice over for people but they wont oh that's the easy part
@@droid4d279
Why do people bash specifically pokémon for this, not having voice-overs in dialogue is very, _very_ common in RPGs 😭
The one reason I could think to criticize something like this would be the fact that they don't have voice acting for the animated cutscenes, which is a little awkward, but it's not like it's a huge deal.
3:21 That's so hilariously big and relatable. I love this switch() statement. :D
you can add seamless level transitions using a box trigger so when climbing high enough on the last ladder it teleports you to the next scene and you can intro queue start the person climbing the ladder. in case that would interest u :)
Awesome bro! Thank you for your hard work:)
Yo nice! I did the same but in Unity, but ended up just creating a first person Pokemon Snap (trailer on my profile). Major kudos on getting the battling system going! The daunting task of getting a battling system is what pushed me to just doing the photo mode. Looking forward to more of this project.

Bravo man........that had to be fun (and tough)!
this man needs to remake the pokemon games!
this actually looks so good my guy
I mean, in scarlet violet, you collect peaces from each single Pokémon. Some stuff like hairs, claws, etc.
So, i think ragdolls and explosion into peaces are fine.
Nice bro , I've never used Unreal but it looks organized and easy, will have to give it a try.
Does make you wonder where the millions of $ of development go , when you can do just as good with models and a couple spare hours
Omfg I've been looking for something like this!! It's shocking how few people have done something like this
Please if you're ever able to, it'd be awesome if you made a more in depth breakdown of the blueprints, or if you made the project available to download, cuz I'd personally love to look through the blueprints and see how it all works!
Either way this is awesome!
No one can do any pokemon game, Nintendo is well known for suing fan made games
