oh my goodness ❤ So glad your neighbor brought him to you. Poor little guy. He'll relax after awhile (once he gets acclimated to his new way of life). They can live up to 15+ years :) congratulations on your new family member 🥰 Happy Holidays to you guys!
Hi Sherri! Wow! i didn't know they could live that long! I haven't tried to bother the bird much because he's been doing a lot of healing, but I'm sure he will enjoy being here once he gets used to it. Thanks for stopping by. Happy Holidays to you and your flock!
Hi Lloyd! Yeah, he would have a tough time in the wild. I have a feeling this bird will turn out having a lot of character to it. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
Hi Joo! Thank you. I'll take what comes. Who knows, I may be the lucky one! It's like the old saying, "No one is your friend, no one is your enemy, everyone is your teacher." I'll see what I can teach this bird, and we'll see what this bird teaches me. Thanks for stopping by. Warm greetings from Wishram.
The mounted woodpecker looks super! We have a pair nesting in the pasture / pecan orchard outside my bedroom window. I'm guessing they wouldn't like it if I put up a lookalike in the yard here. 😆
Hi Lynn! Yeah, he did a fantastic job. They probably wouldn't like it. My mom used to have Fllicker woodpeckers come and bang on her metal gutters every Spring. They are very territorial. I hope you have a happy Thanksgiving. I'll be baking pies and rolls today.
Do scrub jays mimic any like our blue jays here do? I just knew I had a red-shouldered hawk in my yard for over a week one time, wondering why the jays weren't kicking up a fuss, till one day I caught the culprit jay in the act of mimicking the hawk.
Hi Lynn! I don't know, but I have heard the starlings around here mimicing red-tailed hawks. That's interesting. I'll have to watch for it. I bet you were going crazy looking for that hawk; I know I was!

Great opportunity to help the Jay . With that bad wing it just couldn’t make it in the wild. Thanks Todd for helping it out. Have a great Thanksgiving
