Thanks for detailed description of suspension setup. Please also comment on differences between linkage systems on frs and tues, i.e. linkage driven single pivot vs. 4-bar. Thank you
While yes, the Tues is a horst link and the FRS is a linkage driven single pivot, both bikes have a ridiculously similar kinematic ride feel largely due to the fact that they have almost an identical leverage ratio (from what people have found through Linkage X3). That said, unlike with other bikes where I have been able to notice changes in Anti-squat/anti rise, with the FRS/Tues those two charachteics don't jump out on the trail. Lastly, the difference in frame material massively changes the ride feel although the suspension layouts are very similar. Hope this helps✌🏼
I have my eye on a used 2015 Santa Cruz V10, in XL. Of course, the V10 is and remains a downhill race bike, but it's pretty amusing how the geo of that bike almost exactly matches the geo of a current-gen FRS in medium.
@@PeterJamison Yeah, fortunately Santa Cruz keeps all their geo charts and such in their bike archive. Actually, from your perspective, the XL's reach of 450 might be right in your sweet spot, not that you're in the market for a new downhill bike right now, lol.
Considering an FRS. Great video. Would be super sick if you just listed the park that you are riding, or even the trails in text on the video. That would be sick.
as far as I understand the frs is like the bikeparky dh, and the supreme is the dh dh race bike. Also Yt tues, SC V10, Spesh Demo are all do it all dh bikes with good overall ability, and Giant is pretty bad haha. Intense is a rig!
Thanks for the insightful information how you setup your new DH bike. How did you learn all the technical aspects of tuning your bikes? did someone taught you or you just learned over the year by doing. Im still torn what my next bike should be. I would love to try out a DH bike for the first time.
I am self taught for the most part with bike setup, just learning by solving one problem at a time 🤘🏼DH bikes are cool and definitely worth trying out at some point, but they can be quite limiting as well 🤙🏼
With the mullet set up, are you doing anything to offset the bb height? I am considering getting the 29er lowers for the boxxer and running a 29” wheel up front, but I wasn’t sure if it would affect the geo in a negative way. I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Hey Peter, love the vids! I'm looking at a medium 27.5 Tues and the last model Large Furious. Which one would you lean towards for an all around DH bike?
Hey Matt, glad you enjoy the videos! Thanks for watching 🙏🏼 Both bikes are very, very similar and honestly I would likely chose just based on price and parts spec more than the frame ✌🏼
Hey! I am looking to get a Commensal Frs or the yt tues, and I’m not to sure which one I want, I previously was riding a commensal clash and I'm worried the frs might feel like the same. I’m mostly just riding whistler bike park jump trails along with some steep tech, and i just don't know which one to go with. just wondering what your thoughts are on what bike would suit me the most between the 2?
Thanks for watching! The FRS is better in tech (because of the alloy frame & longer wheelbase), but simply due to the smaller reach I was a tad bit more comfy on the Tues for jumps. That said, the FRS will get to that level of comfort with some adjustments 🤘🏼
I am as tall as you. 5'11 and i want good mix of stability but as well throwing whips in air on jump lines. No tricks. Do you recommend medium or small? I ride only flows jump lines but often high speed
Hi Peter ! I would need some advice about this bike , I would like to order one for bikepark/freeride ans tricks use but I don't know which size to take between S and M. I am 1,75 meters tall
@@PeterJamison I am also riding the Tues CF and want to switch the frame to the FRS. What do you think about the wight difference. Is the handling still similar on jumps and flow trails? Because I like the light weight Tues and I am not sure if the heavier FRS is still this fun... Thank you!
How tall are you? I’m 5’6.5 and debating a ‘21 medium FRS. I currently ride a Medium ‘21 Trek Remedy 8 and the reach difference is 45mm (2”). I’m sure a small would better suit me. Would you say you’d feel comfier with a shorter stem and high bars? I’m debating the medium and doing a 25mm stem and higher bars.
im just over 6 feet tall and I got my first DH bike with a reach of 470. It looks like you still send jumps good you think you can do all your tricks on your FRS? I just worry I got to big of a bike but sizing online said thats best sizing for me
I think with a higher rise handlebar I could likely do most of my tricks on this medium FRS, but it may be a bit challenging. For being a just over 6ft, a 470 reach bike should not be too big for you, I would just experiment with your cockpit setup until you get to a point where you are confident 🤘🏼
I’m 6’3 with a proportional stature and I prefer 495 as my base reach. 470 should be dialed for you at 6ft. But to each their own is also a valid point.
Open rebound = Fastest Open compression = softest Think about ‘closed’ as restricting oil flow thus slowing down rebound or stiffing compression. Sorry for the confusion!
Thanks for watching this week's video! Hyped to share the next bike build soon!

@@billydeewilliams8909 Haha! Thankfully already have a new bike sorted out ✌🏼
Well if weighing the front wasn't an issue, Spank do make 25mm stem, that'll both raise and move back the control points.
That is a great point 🤙🏼 But, I am obligated to run the Race Face stem so I am going to work around that with spacers and a new bar rise 🤙🏼

I would likely recommend a medium, with a set of 35mm - 40mm rise bars 🤙🏼
Small would definitely be too small for you, I'm 6ft4" and ride a large FRS.
Hi Peter ! I would need some advice about this bike , I would like to order one for bikepark/freeride ans tricks use but I don't know which size to take between S and M. I am 1,75 meters tall

I am 170cm should I take size m or s ? I want the bike to be very playful but still want to ride some downhill.
I would suggest a small ✌🏼
@ Okay thank you!
How do you feel it compares to your old YT Tues for bikeparks ?
Very similar, ride feel is just more dampened due to the alloy frame 👍🏼

The wight doesn't make a huge difference in my opinion, however, the carbon frame is going to be a lot more responsive on jumps/flow trails ✌🏼
How tall are you? if you're above 5'9, does the medium feel too small?
I am 5'11" and as I talk about in the video the medium feels a hair big.
Have you ever tried the commencal meta v4 ? And if you have what are your thoughts on it?
I have not sorry - The only Commencal bikes I have ridden are the Tempo and the FRS ✌🏼

You would likely be best in a medium, unless you want a longer bike for enhanced stability on technical trails and decreased control on jumps ✌🏼
