Wow! Tears for Lucie for that performance and for Whitney thinking about what should have been. Lucie really does not know how amazing is. So happy for her parents and family too.
I feel the same way. Must see before I leave. I’m 73 and never ever followed a singer before. I play her over and over everyday. Still waiting for my CD to come. Love her!!!!
I met Lucie a few years after she was on X Factor. She had just finished a performance of Les Mis on the West End, and she was absolutely lovely. Spent 45 minutes talking to fans and taking pictures.
That was insane! This young lady is going to go far! I had to watch this like a million times to believe I was actually seeing and hearing this! It's absolutely unbelievable how talented and humble she is. She was petrified but she did it! 100% nail on the head! ❤
Dolly's comment about Whitney's version was an example of Dolly's humility, and her graciousness towards another singer. Yes, Whitney DID yell it, whereas Lucie sang it more like Dolly does : with the amazing pathos in her voice that gives it that 'heartbroken' quality. To me, the Whitney version conveys a sense of self - pity or bitterness, while Dolly's and Lucie's are an expression of genuine enduring love.
It’s 2024 … I still believe that Susan Boyle is the most incredible singer to ever grace the stage ANYWHERE, EVER. What a wonderful gift to the world she is 🙏🫶🏻
Yeah I love Whitney Houston also! The way Lucie sang this version was amazing! She didn't even try to sound like Whitney at all! She sang it with her own singing voice! Not that Whitney Houston was a bad singer she had a beautiful and powerful singing voice Whitney will always be a legend but this version was absolutely amazing!
It's like she had the best of when Whitney sang it and the best of when Dolly sand it that made each version so special and blended them both and wow amazing.
Whitney Houston covered "I Will Always Love You" in 1992 for the movie "The Bodyguard", but Dolly Parton wrote and originally recorded this song in 1973.
I’ve always loved that song. It’s a song of love and extreme sorrow. Dolly’s version was as she felt the song when she wrote it. Whitney sang it as a love song, but put her voice into it showing how she hated the decision. But Lucie sang it like her heart was breaking. I think that’s how this love song was supposed to be sung. I’d like to buy that song as Lucie sings it when its available.
I love how she doesn't try and overdo it. She doesn't try and out-Whitney Whitney Houston. This is much more like the original Dolly Parton version of the song and it perfectly captures the feeling.
That was a Dolly Parton song. She released it twice and sent it to the top of the charts. She also sang it in the movie Best Little Whorehouse In Texas.
My sun turned black when we had to put out a healthy bit damaged pitbul, lost my sister months later, and then spouse left me for someone else. Tonal quality is quite impressive! Her notes were spot on from what I heard! The timing was different, but she sang it her way, which is what she's supposed to do, and she did it well!
Wonderful voice she's absolutely Incredible her talent is self-touching harmony in peace she's extraordinarily Marvelous she loved auditioning on the X Factor she is majority Stunning her performance was really Astonishing she's very good
Whitney made it popular in the film "The Bodyguard" with Kevin Costner in 1992, which is why everyone thinks it's "her" song. Yes, Dolly released it originally in 1974, but it didn't quite have the same success for Dolly as it did for Whitney, hence the previous statement. Just saying...
@@avisdaniels6194Dolly sang it at the end of her television show every week. I think you are sadly mistaken when you say that she didn't have the same success as Whitney. She sang it 100 times better than Whitney with zero effort.
Really: I know a lot of people think Simon is kind of a jerk. But, he is an incredible judge of talent, when he says the performer is not singing up to par, or has picked the wrong song for themselves... he's always right. And, unlike some judges on these shows, you can tell that every cell in his body is listening to the performer, especially when they are surprisingly good. Amanda is the same way. And, when his often stern demeanor sees true talent, especially if the performer is genuine & has a measure of humility...he'll crack that wide, genuine smile, and you know "you've made it".
Dolly Parton wrote this song 4 Porter Wagoner when she was leaving the Porter Wagoner show and going off on her own it's a beautiful song this girl did it justice
Not only was it written by Dolly Parton, but it was written as a farewell song for her then singing partner and her mentor Porter Wagoner. If yall need or want to know more about this song, then as I'm often told to do Google it. Nuff Said.
OMG…I love this song. She knocked it out of the park!!!
She takes her time with it. Beautiful
She did a beautiful job! A beautiful girl with such a gifted voice! You are blessed!

This show was 15 years ago, have a Google where she is now
She surprised everyone including Simon. What a voice❤
One of the best voices iv heard on this show. And we didn’t even hear 80% of what she was capable of in this clip.

As much as I like whitney Houston Lucie delivered this version impeccably with perfect vibrato and without yelling out the notes , Brilliant!

So you're saying she was better than Whitney 😂😂😂
@@neilperry2241 WRONG!! What I was saying is that she sounded just as great as Whitney Houston.

@neilperry2241 thank you Charles Dickens!
An absolute sweetheart... Beautiful voice indeed 💜💌
Luci, that was soo beautiful ❤

What a Voice - she is lovable with a shy caractere - a big Voice in a small Body! Wow - i love her!
I have no doubt about paying to see this young lady in concert. She's absolutely amazing.👏👏
It's a Song written and recorded by Dolly Parton

@@orlandosoto6080 I respect your opinion.🙏
Lucie is still singing professionally and represented us in the Eurovision song contest.

@@markmerk3939 Whitney apparently didn't know it, since she didn't thank Dolly when she won her grammy for this song.

Beautiful, just beautiful!
Sydnie….a fan since I first experienced you. Your voice is absolutely amazing! I cannot wait to hear more.
Hello, I'm sure Dolly Parton would be proud of her. Lucie Jones did her best.
Loved her interpretation!

One of my favorite songs ever..
This gives me such a Dolly Parton's original version feel with a hint of Whitney's.
