I think the 50% mutation chance actually made it worse. Since, even if an animal gets onto land, its kid has a 50% chance of losing the thing that allows them to go onto land, so it dies.
Your right. That's actually an accelerated agent but when It's too big the mutation factor becomes too versatile and it's actually another explanation to the fact that they don't change the body
@@Marramdar yeah. they change to much. there are too many mutations so they stop mutating all together. "and when everyone is super, no one will be" - Syndrome, The Incredibles, Pixar, Disney, Walt Disney, Earth
4:04 Wesel (the developer) actually memtioned that even the free-floating microalgae can become other microalgae species and also become macroalgae, which can become land plants.
Just so you know, the free floating algaie can turn into rooted algae. A single free-floating alage at the start of the simulation can and will eventually evolve into trees. I also heavily discourage setting the mutation above 20%, it just makes the game lag super hard, makes it impossible to navigate any of the lists because of all the species, makes speeding forward a nightmare, and messes things up. A low, but constant mutation rate is much better.
Hi if you don't already know by now, saving the game after a time skip, going back to the menu and loading the game again really helps with lag. It clears the cache or something like that. It seems that the creatures them self arent the real problem, but the evolution and the resulting renders and calculations on the fly, over time they stuff up the ram of your pc. (At some point the creatures will induce lag tho, but 90% of it is fixed with reloads)
you might have been having a bit of trouble with the land animals because you had mutation so high! 50% mutation means 50% chance that a random mutation kills them. might help a bit!
Just a heads-up: algae will turn to trees and grass if you let random mutations on for both, all it takes is for the algae to have good roots that can penetrate the soil and their body to photosynthesize the light on the surface. Animals too; if you let random mutations on, basal marine animals will evolve to be more specialized and eventually they'll become capable of breathing in the atmosphere and as such evolve into land animals.
@@cogs_and_gears i did, he just seemed a bit confused. I forgot to write about how its better to have species with like five-to-ten spines (in my experience at least, idk if thats the optimal to make basal lifeforms, not a big Sapling player)
I've had so much fun with this game, I'm glad you're revisiting it! edit: It would be dope if you played more of this! I found that not moving and pausing when you load back from a time skip and pausing when you're moving the camera around seems to help with the lag a tiny bit(:
A funny thing I thought about is if you made the free floating algae red, then it would turn the sea red, which would make the assassin’s creed black flag line where the guy says he’s turning the sea red while harpooning accurate.
You have to develop a tolerance of eating something before it becomes your regular diet. The first land animals were amphibious, more than likely retreating to land from a predator, and slowly gaining tolerance to eat land plants. This is of course talking about lobed animals, as the group containing crabs and lobsters (brain fart) already was able to come onto land, but again.. more than likely for safety to shed and mate from larger predators, and near shorelines. Not so much for plant food as land plants hadnt evolved yet at that point. Most food would be washed up carcasses.
Also its funny people think its taking too long for stuff to evolve lol. First time seeing this game, but if its striving for at least a little realism, a long arse time is expected lol. Youre better off making huge jumps in time to expect huge differences. The first land animals looked very similar to fish, as they technically still were. Like guppies.
mabye make a planet with land planst and animals and then et it evovle then mabye few millan years later in game make the sea levels to rise but also add algae to the planet too for psobbile water aniamls that return to the ocaoen

I’m pretty sure the game tries to stop that from happening

I think starting with a Looong boi will make it much more diverse
I like starting with a bunch of long bois with diferent numbers of limbs

Yes also irrelevant but did you watch the video

land animals take WAYYYY to long to evolve without human intervention
48:12 CHIKEN SQUARE!!!
XD
and right next to it is something with tortilla in the name
I've had so much fun with this game, I'm glad you're revisiting it!

My interpretation is that square is the perfect form of life
what an amazing game - thanks for showcasing it. I just bought it this morning after bingeing through your miniseries =)
I hope you are able to continue playing this, was really excited to see this had dropped.
Saplingggg (I’m glad to be back and watching your videos; need a stress reduction from the nearing end of school)
Yo this shit is so good definitely make more. Also next time start out with the aquatic worm creatures they evolve to be a lot more diverse
Happy to see more of the sapling on this channel !
This is such a fun game. Im excited to see what you create aand if you continue this.
Yes Sapling let’s goooooooooooooo!!!!!

I like this series, will be back for pt 2
You just summoned a whole fandom with "Willum".
Bro you brought me back to spore and now I kind of want to try this
A funny thing I thought about is if you made the free floating algae red, then it would turn the sea red, which would make the assassin’s creed black flag line where the guy says he’s turning the sea red while harpooning accurate.
When you gave the algae the name William you gave it my name😂
look at all those flat boys
Please make a a series on this
Enjoying this series
The floating algae probably died after the first major time skip because an animal specialised to eat it. Cool right!

This game is sick plz keep playing
A lil dibble dabling in the sandbox yk yk
the rings do something, they make it colder along the equator
This looks interesting and I'm going to try it.
I wonder if you can nudge the aquatic animals towards land by introducing an aquatic predator.
Long live the pop tarts!!
I want to see you upload everyday.
The body changing shape is very rare.
More sandbox please!
Maybe try evolving plants into animals
i think that is not possible
you should turn mutation to 10-20
So early its 240p!
one tip don't use time skips they rly lagg the game
Plant species 📉📈📉📈📉📈📉📉📈📈📉📉📈📈📉📈📉📈📉
for new the sapling vidoe ideas oen planet mabye wheare you add land aniamsl and see when you flood the planet withc you can do
BURP
mabye make a planet with land planst and animals and then et it evovle then mabye few millan years later in game make the sea levels to rise but also add algae to the planet too for psobbile water aniamls that return to the ocaoen
I want this game to be free on play store on mobile
it would be so awesome... It would be so cool....
you need to make the environment more harsh so animals die out faster.
Under 50 seconds!
