Loved the KT3 ,I still have the extension boards for module extension, its long been forgotten just how easy it was to repair TV s in them days and the fact most TVs only had 4 screws holding the back on,keep the vintage videos coming I like living in the past .
Hi Michael, yes wasn't the TV trade wonderful back then. I used to love going up to John's shop, watching the people coming and going as collected their sets or bought vacuum bags and whatnot. However it all seemed to change in the last few years, people had less patience and no manners. Glad you're enjoying the videos.
Howya John Joe! Been watching Jordan pier for years. I've a big interest in vintage hifi as you know as well as vintage cb and ham radio. Fair play to shango ang big Clive. I watch them boys too, and yer good self too! Looking forward to meeting up on wednesday
We also had these Philips set in Australia. Great sets and you could not kill them with a stick. The tubes lasted forever and i also had one when i was a bit younger. The tunning draw also when closed and inplace also pushed in a peg that operated the aft.
What a cracking picture, no obvious errors with geometry/grey scale or colour, very nice set :-D The crt looks spot on. Does that dvd show all the test card frequency blocks ok or is it all lost in the over compressed dvd format? Still a good test card though, ive spent many hours using that card to set up a tv :-D
I just had a can of Lucky Lager (yes that is the brand name) I would rather have had something like a Guinness, or home brew, but it was cold, and had flavor, therefore acceptable. I may just pick up some tonic water, or soda, it's too warm for Martinis.

Hey mate cheers :) What is that plastick ball in the Guinness can for?? :) I have the same tv from 1980 but the handle is in top. Peace Rick from Holland*
Heya Rick, the ball in the can is called a widget. It is pressurized and when you open the can it releases carbon dioxide and that's what gives it its creamy head.
Hello can u help me with something beacuse i have a phillips tv like u and it looks the same but it has the chanels at the top so if u want to can u help me to tey to find the model on it
nice one , i have a philips kt3 but its bigger than that one , works fine i think , tried connecting a v7 pro freesat box to it , my kt3 only has the Ariel socket as a connection option , the picture is great but despite my efforts the sound is not with the picture , tune out of the pic and there's the sound . the k7 pro has a built in modulator , any ideas ,i guess i could internally adjust the tuner on the tv

The past is the best.a better time.for everything.especially tv repair
one of the best early 80s sets nice one
Cracking picture all considered.
Brilliant TV, and a great tip for pouring Guinness too.
The KT3 was one of the best chassis that Philips made. Worked on many of them back in the 80s.
Ferguson TX style handles, and internals quite similar to that ghastly ITT we rented!
ITT ICC5? Quality stuff....
@@IrishvintageTVRadio Not sure of exact chassis -but would be able to confirm if I saw one again.
Love that TV. Spent tons of hours grinding my Atari 2600 joysticks on it.

Wouldn't be a Jonjo vid without the can! And not an IF can neither! You'll have to show us the garden lad.
It's just grass n stuff...
👏👏👏👏 amei o vídeo... Esse kt3 foi uma TV maravilhosa!!! Tive uma de 20 polegadas em 1981 ... Era todo um luxo....

Goes to show how stable the Philips stuff is. The DVD has high resolution jpeg of slides, so is of good quality.

Sounds like it may have the wrong Sounds offset, should be 6MHz. Perhaps it can be adjusted in service menu.
