During the war years it probably took most fire departments 3 years give or take to see the same amount of fire compared to just 1fdny engine company during the war years.
Seeing these clips reminded me that I need to go to my town’s fire house and look for a tape that recorded a tanker task force shuttle run training. I think the tape is from the mid ‘80s. Hopefully I’ll get around to asking if I can root around the archives.
Pete I'm sure you will have no problem finding videos or photos of the super pumper operating at fires back in the day you got the connections to get it done that would be awesome if you can come up with some.
Is there anyway I can get an email for Lt. Sarno...my grandfather was appointed in 41' to 321 in Brooklyn...I have a bunch of old photos of some big jobs he was on would love to ask some questions. Name was Reggie Ryan I think he helped co find the Emerald society
John barracato was Deputy Chief Fire Marshal after starting out running the back end of the tiller working his way up to Deputy Fire Marshal then he retired became we'd arson investigator for and I wrote a few books had dinner with the president Pat is on fire prevention TV show John barracato was my grandpa and had some truly amazing stories if you're interested in getting his story please let me know his badge number was number two in the FDNY at his retirement
