Sorry the video footage is just gameplay. I wanted to get this out today, and that would have been impossible with my usual editorial practices. - Fornax
so many just wave it away to me this is HUGE game almost no playable in wvw and some world bosses this helps greatly Also some mechanics and fields from raid fractal and strike bosses easier to see this is HUGE probably simple... but it will greatly improve a lot of peoples experience
As you started to get into, I think the renewed focus on revamping and modernizing older content and systems makes the comparison of the new expansion cycle with the old a little tricky. It might be interesting to also look at how many core system updates they made during Path of Fire for a more apples to apples comparison.
For Zaithan, to prevent from changing too much code, I hope to see a meta map where Zhaitan fell, between the last mission and the finale! It would be cool to have a map where everyone that dies becomes a risen!!! (the Doppelganger proves it's possible)
They've definitely made several good improvements to the base game. Along with a bunch of balance updates and the like. So I'm in favor of this more consistent updates process. I think they make a good point on the elite specs. It does seem like it would be harder to add more unique ones. We do have a lot of options already. Refining those and other changes like maybe adding weapons or something sounds pretty good to me. I imagine if they come up with a good set of ideas they might eventually change their mind and add more, but I'm good with removing the pressure to do so soon. There's so much content already that I do rather like the idea of refining and improving old stuff over prioritizing adding more. And we'll keep getting new stuff not rarely. So in all this sounds pretty good to me.
The key here is "more content over a longer period of time". Tighter releases = more stable revenue stream = more devs = more content at a quicker pace, after a while.
This is the hope. I’ve spoken to many players who worry gw2 will mirror ESO. Which has smaller expansions which many players feel are inadequate. That’s what the video is really trying to address.
@@FornaxTheHerald The player bases are somewhat different, though, so that may not translate over 1-o-1. It depends on the depth of the expansion, more so than width, imo.
@@FornaxTheHerald From my understanding, the difference here though is that ESO expansions make the older content irrelevant due to armor scaling or something like that (similar to WoW, though I haven't played it to know for sure.) Where as GW2 is taking the approach of smaller expansions, smaller gaps between added content, while reworking the core game to keep everything relevant and enjoyable for all types of players. I think this could launch GW2 even further in the MMO community. Here's to hoping at least!
WoW used to make all specs about equal. So boring! In Dragonflight specs are fun, silly, some are OP, and it's just a joy. GW2 on the other hand, used to have weird silly specs, like Chrono supplying alacrity, and now all GW2 specs are equal. Everything is limited to 5 targets. The balance team, balanced the fun out of GW2. WoW took inspiration from POF and made their builds silly and unique and frankly, unfair and unbalanced. And I love it. I went back to WoW
Nah this is better, I rather be able to hop from one healer/dps/support to another without feeling like one or another is vastly weaker than another, or have you forgotten how WoW has been for the past 15+ years? Even today, you still have these issues in WoW despite their "GW2 inspiration" as you put it
I am affraid of one thing, because they wrote: "...we'll be releasing smaller expansions, with lower price , much more frequently." I would means that free Living Story updates will be now paid and sold as an "expansions" or "DLC" in the future. And that will push out new players from STEAM who thought that buying game once is enough. It breaks also a way for "battle pass" or "reward tracks" sold with each expansion or as separate. Either way game goes into much more monetization than before. I wouldn't be against going into "subscription" model only if that would allow steady flow of content.
I know this new planned content cadence from ESO. Zenimax pulled it off. ESO's Expansions and later content patches were hit or miss but you always knew that you will get a big content patch every quarter. The concept of an Expansion every year sounded great at the beginning but it quickly felt like they couldn't really deliver something grandiose. The Expansions and content patches felt lackluster and rushed at times, to meet the quarterly release schedule. That's why I am sceptical of the direction GW2 is taking. Anet is not Zenimax though, they can totally prove me wrong and deliver quality content every year. Right now we can only speculate. I will give my verdict after a full "new" Expansion release cycle.
Hope they really work on WvW and PvP, because this game has a lot more potential on Competitive... This game has the best combat on Competitive games, they would win a lot more working really on that... A lot of people that i recommended the game stayed for long time because they love the combat style but they feel Arenanet don't care too much about this community...
i’m kinda scared when they say smaller expansions, they mean something like ESO where it’s too hard to keep up with in terms of actually buying them, so you now need an subscription to actually get them all i’m a lil hesitant about that buying model i hope we get new professions, i actually don’t mind not getting new elites, i feel like we got a pretty good number of them personally
I actually love the core maps, I love playing trough the Zaithan (undead army) story line with a Core Engineer using turrets and flamethrower 🎃 It’s my favorite way to go trough the different race core stories 🦾 If ArenaNet could grant me a wish it would be the option to have different Mechs as a mechanist (char tech, asura tech, dredge tech…etc)
As someone who found freedom and solace in Guild Wars 2, I don’t particularly want this change (due to increased number of deadlines and pressure for dev’s), but I understand the necessity I have faith though!
I'm kind of sad that elite specs won't be part of future expasions (at least for the time being) but I understand why the devs had to switch to something else. There aren't that many gameplay niches left to fill. Designing new elite specs that feel unique is close to impossible. The game needs something new and I hope that the devs will deliver a good substitute.
As for masteries, I think it is entirely possible that new mastery lines will be added to the old mastery point types, since the points are continent/region bound (if the expansions will take place in the same continents, like the other part of the Maguuma Jungle, or norther into the tundra)
Did you do the voice acting for Age of Wonders 4 nature tomes? I swear to god it sounds like you, first time I heard it I was like wot, a dozen times now... I am convinced. I couldn't find any info in the credits figured I would ask.
I hope devs would make cd tracking of abilities easier. Like of eso’s ability bar. You see the cd of the abilities in the other ability bar. As for the cd of abilities inside kits, they can just show the cd of the most recent that will come up.
