It's clear as to why. Thanksgiving is in and of itself not associated with buying shit that you don't need nor can afford, like Christmas has been bastarzized. Thanksgiving is purely about thanks to God for the institution of this land under the system of private ownership of land, meritocracy and devine providence over this nation under God.
