- I recently made a video on how to create a UA-cam playlist but last week I got a question about how to set the playback order of the videos in the list. It’s quite easy to do.
This is really useful when you have a sequence of videos that need to play in a certain order. And it helps when sharing a playlist for others to view. You can set your playback sequence for music videos and tutorials that need to follow a particular order.
You can change the UA-cam playlist order in the Playlist settings. And it's a good idea to have several playlists on your channel to make it easy for viewers to find your content and for you to stay organized.

Hi, I mean no offense; but have a suggestion. You might consider removing the first part of this video title; i.e., "How to Change Playlist Order Sequence-" because the terms are a bit ambiguous; and your video content shows "How to make changes to the video sequence within a playlist." What your content covers, is referred to in the 2nd part of your title. I noticed because after watching your video, I still needed help for my project.
I was looking for how to change the order in which playlists appear. The words I suggest you delete, arguably describe what I need, but your instructions don't address that. (What I'd like to do might not be possible.)
It's nearly Christmas and I wanted my Christmas Song list to be at the top of my playlists on several channels. On 2 or 3 such channels, I had created a Christmas Song list, but later made 1-2 more playlists, pushing the song list to 2nd or 3rd place. Anyway, that's my suggestion and then your title won't appear that it's addressing something it isn't. And thanks for your video content; it might be a better way than how I've been doing it.
Yes, the new ones appear in the top, and the Old youtube Layout organised by name. So shitty!
yes especially when you're losing it trying to figure out why youtube randomly changed the order of your videos you want to play a song from your playlist and its hidden all the way in the bottom and a playlist you haven't even looked at in a year is right on top. now i lost my momentum and im heading in the opposite direction super unproductive and then u come along and im like yes finally some one cares and nope this has nothing to do with changing the playlist order sequence why bro?

This video talked about changing the order of the videos INSIDE the playlist and it was very helpful, but how do you change the order of the playlists as they appear for the viewers? Another question, how do you change the order of the playlists as they appear for the content creator when in their STUDIO view? Either would be helpful thanks.
when you remove a playlist from your library and then add it again, it will move to the top. Use this method to order your playlist
this is largely the main and easier to fix issue that youtube has ignored since.... forever. it is just moronic that they didnt address this one yet.

I have a playlist of over 1100 videos that are in alphabetical order according to song title. How do I quickly rearrange them?
I want to know this too. Dragging is not an option if you have several hundred videos in one playlist.

@@mwcmango I found it! Once you've created your playlist in the "playlist" section then go to your UA-cam studio and click "customization" on the left panel, (not "playlist") then click "+ section" over to the right side. You can then add a new section or drag the playlist order.

what about ordering the list of playlist itself. I have like 86 playlists and you would not know where a playlist is if you don't scroll trough the whole list.

try this on a playlist with above 500 videos, and try then to move a video from bottom to top, you will do it once, but if you want to rearrange many videos from bottom to top, after placing it to the top you will need to scroll down all the videos again. This is my problem. Its taking too much time, its like being again in 70s.
I also put a "dislike" on this video simply because the title is misleading. I agree with all the others commenting. You don't have to change the video; just change the title, OR put a note in the description that "changing the actual order of the Playlists on the Channel Playlists page cannot be done. Or point to directions for doing it. Appreciate your effort. Would be nice to find a solution to this.

TheRenderQ I have a problem that occured this weekend. The 'edit' button on the right of my channel name has disappeared all of a sudden. I can't rearrange manually the videos on my playlists anymore. There's no longer this box where I can make all playlist settings. In this 'creator studio beta' there are no playlist options so far. Playlist settings could be done in 'creator studio classic' until lately. Can you help me?
I want to embed someone else's channel so the the most recent video is always first. Is there a way to modify the embed code?
Really wish UA-cam let you do this in a more compact and easy way. I have a 166 video playlist which is out of order (as was the upload order), and it's taking me FORVER to move it all into place.
sometimes i play playlist but what i noticed the order during playing changing or the sequences of videos changes from no. to different no. randomly. as an example when i go to inside one of the UA-cam channel to play all videos and all playlists in one all playlist this one happen ?!
Instead of getting the little cross that you get when you hover I just get a square box beside each video that enables me to select. The moving the placement of the video is not offered. Please let me know how you do this in the newer UA-cam.

Your example of a playlist shows a number on the left side of the video. In other words each video has a number. My playlists used to have the videos numbered but now they longer do. This makes finding videos very difficult. Is there a way to get the numbering feature back?
You’re right! The new UA-cam Studio does not have numbers next to the videos in the playlist. It only has the icon for dragging the video up or down. I don’t think there’s any way to get the numbers back. This is the interface now unless UA-cam decides to add it back in. Thanks for watching!

If you manually reorder, it will default to adding all new videos afterwards to the end, it seems. But will it ever automatically default to order by most recent vid added??
Hi nice video, BUT I want to know how to set the left column alphabetically without a channel! I mean it is exhausting nobody is talking about this. The left column when you click on the sanwitch tree lined bar I have it not in A to Z order I cannot find a way to do it and it's so annoyng. I've been searching for months because I'm trying to rearrange a 360+ videos playlist with a special order for each videos and it's a pain the way they changed this.
There's no solution so far to bring back the old number system.

how do i reorganize my playlists? i know how to move the videos in each play list, but how do i place the playlists in the order that i would like them in? is that feature only for paid subdscriptions?
Completely agree with many other comments - how do we reorder the playlists permanently? I wanted the first playlist I created to be the first to show up, but no matter WHAT I do, there is no way to save the reordering oldest to newest in the Creator Studio Classic and the Studio Beta is a mess. Hey thanks for your question and sorry if something wasn't clearly explained in my video about reordering videos in playlists. I think you're asking how to reorder the playlists/sections (not individual videos in a playlist) on your UA-cam landing page so that you can have your favorite playlist/section show up towards the top? It's a small mention on that video but from the sounds of it I may have to make a video dedicated to how to move sections around. I hope this answers your question!
@@TheRenderQ Thanks. I'll check out the above link tomorrow. I assure you the problem is not you! Your channel is the best genuine help I saw. It may be that I do need that basic guide. I am working on trying to start a youtube channel for friends so they can start uploading their own videos, but they are also on many other channels' content (athletes) and want to collect them into playlists and put those playlists on their channel alongside new content on their channel's home page. I'm not sure about that being "sections" or not but on the main playlist page I can't even get them to stay in the order I created them because the default is when they're added. So I have no idea if that can be done manually by shaping the homepage for the channel so they can be marked there somehow and moved around there. The youtube information out there is not organized, channels are crowded with unorganized content (not good ads for UA-cam) and it's really hard to even get started unless you're a techie. Anyway as roadtrip7 says below, even this basic channel might be helpful to others as well. UA-cam needs a handbook! And the new beta sucks. Thanks again.

any updates? most of created playlists aren't sorted. me as a viewer would like to see a channel's playlist content from oldest to new. i still have to click ep1, ep2, so on... in order which defeats the purpose of "watch all" in the playlist. at least for me

Is there a way to change the order of the songs within a specific private Playlist I've created on your Samsung phone without me having to boot up my computer... I'm lazy like that.
I accidently sorted all the vids on my playlists by age and ruined the manual order that i had them before, i spent months arranging it and now its all screwed up
I did that and it doesn't stick. I dragged the 27 videos in the playlist that need to play in a certain order and while it looks that way in my Creator Studio view, if I sign out and just watch it as someone would, it doesn't play in that order. It still plays in the order that they were uploaded in. Any advice?
Im going to rephrase my question: Can you reoder the playlists? Not the contents of the playlists. Example: I want Monday playlist and its content, at top of order, and Sunday at bottom of Playlists so that I can create a sequence. The content within each playlist I can manipulate.. It's the sequence of my list of Playlists Im interested in changing.

There IS no "video manager" on the left.
This happens with nearly every instructional video I try. It will say to do "this" and you'll see "that." I do "this" but I don't see "that." It's frustrating.
as of today, the edit button next to your channel name is gone. Which means I can no longer use the "move to top" or "move to bottom" options anymore. This is infuriating!
Any idea why the edit button next to one's channel name is gone? I found the move to top and move to bottom options by clicking on the 3 dots on the right side of each video in the playlist, but I want to move them to somewhere in the middle of the list.
Do you have to have a paid account to reorder and manage your playlists?
You do not need a paid UA-cam account to manage and reorder playlists. It’s a basic feature of having a UA-cam account. Hope this helps!

@@TheRenderQ It's not the active channel i want to reorder it is my "created saved Playlists" for my own use. I want to reorder the MASTER list and have it stay put, not get rearranged whenever I add a video to a particular playlist. no options that help on the pulldown menu

how do I reorder a playlist I found on UA-cam based on video popularity?
You did not show how to save the new sequence once you have reordered it. I can find no option to save the newly reordered list, like a button to click on that says “save” or “done”. So when l log out and log back in to my UA-cam channel, the old sequence is still there, because I did not save my work when I reordered the sequence of my playlist. I can find no way to “save” or a “done” button to click on etc. - does anyone else see a “save” or “done” button, or box, or icon to click on?

I made a playlist (with music) for myself, and I play that regularly... I made other playlists (for my subscribers) later (funny clips, videos, etc) that I play rarely/never.
Every time I sit in my car, and my phone connects via bluetooth, I start up my music list i need to scroll down, how can I put the list on top... I don't think its possible, I probably just need to bookmark it.

Thank you for the explanation of resequensing within a playlist. I saw other instructions as well. But you are the first one that mentioned that you used Firefox. and used IE and that did not work. so now it works finaly , thank you so much. Btw., I also tried Chrome, but that gves another problem, that does not recognize the video type, and suggests you go look at html5. So That's a new problem there. But main thing is I can resequence now. I managed to resequense som by using the move up and move down option, but thenn you have to make a prepared list of which one to move first etc. Now I am saved thanks to you.

Hmmm, I haven't made any changes to my UA-cam playlists in awhile so the interface may have changed. I'll have to look into it sometime. But someone else mentioned it didn't work for them a few months ago and when I looked, it was still the same.

The mobile versions of the UA-cam app are more limited that the website/computer version. However, if you just log into UA-cam using a web browser on your Android device does that help?
I can't believe there's no way to just rearrange the order of uploaded videos on your homepage. I don't care about 'playlists'. I just want to move an older video to the front of the line so it has more visibility. WHY can't we do this? Ridiculous.

UA-cam changed some code. I used to use and INDEX like ua-cam.com/video/videoseries/v-deo.html&index=3 but that coding no longer works and my code defaults to the first in the list. Again, thanks for the help.

Ok! I just signed into my account with Chrome on a MacBook. I saw the dots when I clicked on the Edit button when I'm in the playlist I want to edit just like in my video. However, it looks like you can also move videos without going into the Edit menu. Just click on Playlists. Then click the name of the playlist or the Edit button of the playlist you want to work on. On the next screen you'll see your videos in the right column. Hover over a video that you want to change the order. You will then see two dashes (or an equal sign) to the left of the video. Just click and drag the video to the position you want. Again I was able to do it in Chrome so hopefully this helps!

This apparently no longer works. The only thing you can "edit" by the video playlist is the title of the list. Hovering over the 3 dots to the left of the video title brings up nothing.

Unfortunately it looks like you can only sorry by Date Published, Date Added or Most Popular. There doesn't seem to be an alphabetical sort option. The only way to do alphabetical is to manually drag the videos into the order you want them in.

AND need to be able to sort when SAVING while viewing! When saving a new video need to be able to find which list of hundreds I have! It defaults to recently created and no AZ function. SAD!! WTF Google

Really helpful...for a creator. For a viewer it's kind of annoying watching a Playlist out of order from newest to oldest. So apparently the creator is the only one to set the viewing order?

What about just the regular uploaded videos? Can you change their order? I uploaded 2 videos at the same time and the one I wanted to show up as the newest video didn't make it fast enough :D
