Holy crap I didnt know this was dropping today!
I am the purchaser of the MK3. I absolutely love it, I drove it 6 hours to North Carolina to visit my family and then drove it 8 hours back home. The car hasn't skipped a beat the entire time I've driven it. This is absolutely my dream car and one of my favorites to play in Gran Turismo 1. Matter of fact I dusted off my old console and game and have been playing it since I got back home!
Jared is just like how he is in the videos. A honest and very welcoming person to meet. He truly represents what it's like to "meet your hero". He's ridiculously tall though 🤣
Also: both puppers are very FLOOFY

@@robertgranat6335 yea I agree, I should've been more talkative. But I wanna put this into perspective: I worked 7 days straight 12 hour shifts (3rd) to make this trip possible. I literally worked the night before the purchase, got off work, drove to the airport and then flew to Atlanta and then drove to the shop. The 2 days before the purchase I was getting 0 sleep due to excitement. I was mentally wiped when i met Jared at the airport and on the drive to this shop we talked for several hours straight. He knew how much this car meant to me and I hope Jared knows how much he means to me and what that day meant to me. I've been a fan of Jared's since he appeared on the pimp van and have been following him since. He is one of the reasons I fell in love with cars. I wanted a JZA70 since childhood but I bought this specific one because I saw it directly supporting Jared and his Life Supra. We all saw him get emotional talking about the silver supra and I want to see him driving it by the end of the year.
I was way out of my element in this video, he is an expert and has this like 6th sense to visualize the video, I just stood there and had information go in one ear and out the other because I couldn't see it (I see it more now after seeing how my experience transitioned to the video perspective.

@@buchh28 thank you but I do agree with Robert to an extent. Part of it was exhaustion, part being star stuck and ultimately I was way outta my element. I will always remember the day I spent with Jared at the shop because it truly is one of the best in my life. Seeing all the projects, Jared's enthusiasm and passion (mad scientist vibes) meeting the giant floof balls on legs (puppers) and meeting editor Dwayne was an amazing experience I wouldn't trade for anything. I get to relive that day every time I sit in the driver's seat of the car and I get to continue building memories with the car I was "driving" since childhood

@@daniesalex7073 It really doesnt. It doesnt have anything of a Supra. It doesnt have a targa, it doesnt have the GT character, it doesnt have 4 seats, its ugly as hell (even the Z4 is prettier, and that says a lot), and its not nearly as reliable as its predecessor, as time has shown now. Its a BMW, BMWs are not reliable, they have long been perceived as the opposite of Toyotas in reliability.

These Supra videos are hitting way too close to home over here. When I was 18 back in 1999 I got my first supra. It was an 83, black and was in a amazing shape. Made so many good memories in it for a few years but I wanted to upgrade to a MK3 so bad that I sold it to upgrade to an 88, 7m turbo. Bought a cheap one, ran most of the time, but lost a lot of money on it and sold it a few years later for cheap... still loved it.
A few years roll by and I manage to get a 1990 right hand drive 1JZ in black. So much fun! Still a money pit, but had 2 young kids and ended up having to sell it... that broke my heart.
Years pass, and they announce the MK5, I immediately love it (might have been the only one), but no manual, and I couldn't afford it anyway. So it was nice to see them when they drive past. Then last year they announce the manual and for the first time in my life I was in a position to afford one. That same day, I went down to my dealership and ordered a 2023 manual in black (without even touching one)... and because I'm in Canada... I'm here... waiting. My allocation is eventually going to get filled, but 8 months of waiting is getting rough. Fingers crossed I can get it before winter 🤦‍♂️

What a great review. So cool you took a little less money to give the car to someone that would cherish and dream of having it.
My Grandma bought a 1986 Supra when i was 16 and was afraid to take it to its top speed which was something my Grandfather has always done in every car he owned. Unfortunately he passed away in 1985. I got a call. It was the absolute best day in 16 year old kids life. We were approaching right around 130 to 135 if i remember correctly at which point she said ok that is good enough. That straight 6 was screaming. I gave her the biggest hug and thank you when we got back. Lol

This is a lovely video you did. The new supra looks nice from the outside, and I know it is more powerful, but I prefer the late 80s and 90s Toyota supra to keep. The reason why, they are 100 % pure Japanese. I wouldn't say I liked having BMW mixed with this piece of art of Toyota Supra. I want you to buy a Toyota Corolla g6 1999 or 2000 and make a video about it. I have a 1999, and it was a fantastic little sports car. It was never introduced in North America.

As a former Mk3 owner, because i was moving states and i only could bring 1 vehicle... the closest successor to the mk3 and mk4 Supra is the LC500. The feel of a property sorted mk3 and mk4, with out the over the top power, is a great grand tourer.
You are 💯% correct, the new mk5 Supra is a sports car. Unfortunately, the LC500 doesn't have the i6 and would have loved if it was an option sitting between the turbo4 and the v8.

For the vast majority of car owners, a car is just a machine, a method of transportation that gets you to work, and home again. The only joy in driving it is listening to the radio. But not Jared, what sets enthusiasts apart from that majority is the understanding that some cars are meant to be driven, we're not driving for driving's sake, but the fact we enjoy it. And that attitude is reflected in the decision to sell to that buyer for less money. A+ content, keep up the work!

I have a 2022 Supra in Nitro Yellow. I love it. But I feel it is more a modern take on the 2000GT than a Supra. The genV is a great daily, lots of trips to the grocery store getting groceries for a family.of.six and it all fits in the trunk. With bimmercode I removed the fake engine noises, disabled start/stop, added sport plus, and defaulted the car to start each time in Sport, not in Normal mode. I also installed the wind buffeting triangles. The turn on is so precise and light on its feet. I wish the steering was not so numb and brakes could be more firm with better feedback in the pedal.

I do feel the Supra feel in it, but it isn't as street friendly as any of the other cars with how low it sits. Still makes the right noises under the hood, but, yeah...I get the BMW hate, it's all over in the interior. Would I get one? Nah, probably better to get me an S2000 or build a 2nd gen CR-X and put the new NSX engine in it, along with AWD from Subaru and have a drag and drive-circuit track-street car...

When I was younger, I would go watch baseball games with a friend that were 60 miles away and we'd travel in his 1984 Supra. A nice used Charger would be a lot more comfortable. Maybe a early-mid 2000's Dodge Ram SRT-10 pick-up, lots of power and lots of room for someone who is Jared's size. ( I have a 2008 GM 1500 4x4 pick up and a 2008 Corvette.)

Thanks for this comparison, Jared. 14:04 on the B58, besides higher compression, BMW also went back to individual exhaust ports versus the previous manifold cast in the head. Keep making questionable choices.

As much as we wish to keep them all, sometimes you gotta let one go from time to time. I get that.
Thanks for the honest take on the A90. I agree that you gotta go for a manual transmission model if you want proper driver engagement. My biggest hang up is the BMW motor. Yes, it's a performance oriented machine that is capable. However, the longevity of the motor is brought into question because of BMW's head design. Every 40k miles or so, you have to pull the head and replace the seals that are under the valves, inside the combustion chamber. It's not a 400k motor like the old 2JZ.
I get it. I understand why Toyota did what they did to make it financially viable to get a world-wide releasable, modern take on what a Supra is. I also agree that what you have there is a sports car, not a GT car. I own a GTS-T Skyline. I can drive forever in that car in relative comfort (or at least I will once I get the AC repaired). It's got enough "sport" in it to take corners with confidence and put a silly grin on your face. I simply hope that the A90 series cars are able to do just that for those who own them.

As a big and tall too I see you in that Z4 coupe....😅 I mean Supra and I'm like that's awesome because I love looks and everything about that new Supra. I have a 2002 BMW Z3M roadster that I love and fitting in it is a bitch even after 20 years of ownership and huge investments making the fast Z3M even with a 6 speed SMGii swap, S54 build pushing 400hp NA and tell myself I'm never letting it go but that Supra with a manual could change my mind as hitting my head and the getting in and out is only getting harder.

Between the two, I'd take the new Supra. That said, If I were in the market today for that type of car at that kinda money and I'd buy something else. Now, that said, back in the day that MK3 Supra was one of my dream cars and I would have jumped at the opportunity to buy one. The perfect scenario IMO would be a modernized version/vision of the MK3 Supra!

Thanks for the honest review. I am a Toyota fanboy but definitely not a BMW one. Here this car is around $100k RRP and I don't think it's worth the money. I'd rather get a decent spec Lexus for the same, and better driving experience.

It's very dependent on the country. A RCF(65-70k) would be atleast 10-20k more than a mk5(50-60k) in the US or maybe higher depending on the country.

Many years ago, Nissan successfully switched from an inline 6 to a v6 in the Z. Isn't the tradeoff of BMW reliability and high cost of repairs worse than the potential move to a V6 in the Supra?
