the Nike run app gives you a training schedule for running 5K, 10K, Half, full marathon. It helps prepare you for those runs & more all for free. I feel like Strava just records no personal trainer
Great explainer Jourdain ! Thanks ! It helps a lot, even if I use a paid strava for some 3 years now. I encounter a problem recently with the relative effort. Basically I started to use garmin forerunner 255 to record my activities and when strava imports data from garmin values are really low.. much lower than equivalent effort estimate numbers in garmin connect, and much lower then previously when I was using a Fitbit charge 5, numbers were high. I am very active. My score was usually close to 200 per day. Now barely 30.. with the same workout schedule, same load. I could go into more details to describe the issue but first I am just curious if anyone come across this problem..
It may be worth noting that strata fitness is only really an accumulation of training volume (e.g. a long ride makes it shoot up) so short interval sessions may not show the increase in fitness
Make sense. Do you know if that is the case with a power meter and hear rate monitor? From my experience I don't really use the fitness and freshness for the reasons you have mentioned. I listen to my body!! 👍🏼
What’s nice about the fitness is that you can compare this week, to last week and make it a slightly easier week / harder week. And it just gives a visualization for your effort that is actually pretty accurate.
Nice explanation, thanks man! Does strava show you your 1 Minute, 5 Minute, 10 Minute and 20 Minute power PR's if you ride with a power meter and also when you get a new power PR? And by PR I mean your all time person best, not only for a specific ride/workout
Free version gives limited group challenge joins. So if I have premium, but my friend don't they can join the group challenge only 3 times. Is that correct?
I have been using the free Strava for years, but was considering upgrading. Do you know if the upgraded features can be applied to workouts that took place prior to upgrade?
excellent video; I learned a great deal; I have been paying for strava for a few years, mainly just to see the leaderboard for running segments broken up by age groups; video author said he has not used training plans; I did for 5k running training; I found it especially helpful and effective, as I am nearly 60 years old and most of the training methods (for 5k running) do not work for me; basically, increasing the distance on your weekly long runs will help you get faster for a 5k time trial.
could I add in that it may not be worth it if you don't have a cycling computer or power meter already. Strava phone-generated stats are so random haha
I've just unsubsribed with two months away from the renewal. A business asking for this amount of money for subscription yet isn't able to add a simple feature like dark mode despite receiving requests from the users for years speaks a lot. Not that dark mode is a must for me but how Strava not adding that tells the level of their commitment in keeping customer's satisfaction.
Just searched for a video specifically on strava premium, see you come up, 1 stop channel right here mate you've covered a lot! Thank you🙏
Awesome, thank you!

It’s not, I track heart rate and my short (hard) workouts rack up the fitness.

Always on it when it comes to information keep up the great work J 🙏🏿😀👏
I appreciate that! 👍🏽

Very informative
I guess segments are free but you cannot create own segments (and routes) in the free version?
is there a way to change the layout when recording an activity? I want to swap the speed with distance
Not to my knowledge, I think the layout remains the same.

With the paid version can you see your current power meter data while riding?

Good question, Patrick! I have no idea to be honest. I'm going to assume not but I could be wrong.
They do!!

Good to hear you are still going strong at 60 👌🏼 Enjoy your running
You also get free cycle insurance with premium... Look under perks
Good point. I didn't know this. Thank you for commenting 👍🏽
I would be interested in the terms and to hear from those who may have attempted to make a claim through the free policy.
Another AtoZ strava video. Thank you J for taking time to make this very easy for us 🙏🏿.
Glad you like them! 👍🏽
Excellent summary and review, thank you!
No problem! I'm glad you found the video helpful!

623 - Great video, thanks. Following your advice I am going to subscribe
Awesome, thank you!
Just saw a video from DC Rainmaker that Strava is raising its subscription price by a huge amount for some people. I guess it's goodbye Strava for me.

Ain't worth the money. Strava likes to punish rather then reward. Other platforms have better customer service and features.
No.
