Golf to me is a spiritual journey, with the highest of highs and the lowest of lows, teaching humility, resourcefulness, and tenacity. It is the game of a lifetime, never mastered, but only accommodated. It makes a man out of you, not loud or brash, but understanding and sympathetic.
It used to be a gentleman’s game. Many of the golf pros now are a mess. Maclroy just basically threatened the PGA over money. LIV is basically destroying tradition. Personally I believe the very nature of the game needs to be protected as well as the traditional tournaments. Technology is having a broad based impact on the game and the courses. I applaud what these people are doing and it should be supported for the very sake of the game. Louisville golf here in the USA is making modern hickories by hand. If the money gets out of hand, there may have to be some standards established to eliminate what is currently happening. Golf is enjoyable and should be preserved for the sheer enjoyment of the game. I started playing the game in 1970 and have seen a great deal through the years, but what is happening now threatens the very core of the game.
I'm an old soul, and love things from the past, from sports equipment, clothing and camping and hiking equipment. I also want to learn to play Golf, but should I learn with modern day clubs first before I start Hickory Golf?

They need to get a big cash prize for the winner/runner up then maybe people would be more interested in playing the event, also get it on TV , sponsor could provide the prize money.
Well that is what it should be about, but a decent cash prize helps people take interest because to play you need to pay for travel, hotels, golf clubs etc and it's not cheap.
Totally agree. This was a cooperative project for which I was the producer working with a director who passed away during the process of making a longer piece. He was a very talented man and much missed. I posted mainly because I felt it would somehow honor him "as is".

Absolutely magical. I used to run around Panmure when I was a wee lad growing up in Arbroath.
pretty amazing to roll up and get paired with Sandy Lyle... epic!

Believe it or not if Tiger were to get involved and participate I think you would see a notable surge in this.
If Tiger played at one of these events, the entire stock of hickory clubs would skyrocket in price and everyone would be doing it
Tiger would be awful at hickory!
Let us hope he doesn't. I don't have my hickory set yet.

How about actually filming a tournament? The documentary is great, but lets see some competition.
