Build update: Just replaced the front bulkhead with an alloy Vitavon and realized I never replaced the 2 upper tower to bulkhead screws 👀. That explains to me why I've never busted a stock bulkhead like that before. The front tower likely flexed under stress through the braces and torqued on the diff cover busting the 2 upper anchor points. 100% reassembly mistake on my part 😳. Probably got distracted, but should have noticed the 2 M5 button head screws still on the bench after assembly. Found them mixed with other spare fasteners. Wanted to share this because mistakes can and do happen. The important part is owning them. These little machines have highly interdependent bits engineered to function as a complete unit. 🍻🤙🤙

Probably the best all around, practical go anywhere bashers for weight to power ratio. 8-12s large scale is pricey and has more consequence if you hit solid objects 😱. That said, they can tackle terrain the smaller scales can't and offer an earth shaking thrill that's just different. 🍻

@8:30 it hauling ass..@6:30 that was a good distance jump even with a steep ramp. That 12s does slap hard tho. I thought 8s 8000mah was bad. Stay safe out there Bro. I was thinking while watching again... wouldnt it be good if you occasionaly releast a full list of breakages over time so us guys know what works. Pretty obvious to the trained eye whats beffier for the money. I even wonder about stock tie rod ends etc vs hiem joints for reliaity and weight over busted stock turnbuckles etc. Always a tradeoff but would make for some good diagnosis on heavier setups. Good servo saver an she will be right vs busted rims. Vitavon seems the go if it dont pull thru the chasis. Always wondered what you thought of sway bars. I run 5mm rear 4mm front and goes good and helps stability. Anyway keep on hauling ass. Love the vids. Stay well.
Thanks so much Brother 🤗. Breakages are different for everyone, but spare arms, composite ball cups, hinge pins, hardware, and wing mounts are all good to have handy. A full breakage list overtime may be useful 🤔. Plastics wear out overtime as you know. Upgrades are always a personal thing, some are great, others not so much 😂. I'm not a fan of the Vitavon servo saver design. Their raised ESC mount busted several times on my buddies rig. Often the simplest solutions are the best. I pulled off my sway bars a long time ago. They kept yanking out and jamming up my out drives. Appreciate your thoughts and kind words Brother!!! 🍻

Thank you Brother 🤗. I haven't had any fitment issues with the Vitavon bulkheads. Diff tolerances seem on point. Some of the fastener lengths are different from stock, but it is aftermarket. Usually use a single stock bearing shim (just like stock) on the crown gear side bearing. I haven't tried the Vitavon ARRMA diffs yet.
Hey Rich have you been able to clock a speed or height ur getting on this thing at all? Seeing this is making me want to get back into the hobby. I had some health issues so I ended up selling my rigs. Slowly getting on the mend and as soon as I get my vehicle I will definitely be getting a new rig. Been missing it too much. Awesome run Rich! Can you give us a link to the helicoil kit you used or would recommend? This is a great idea for the stripped composite threads. I end up using CA glue to hold the bolts when they strip out. The helicoil looks like a more permanent solution.

Most 1/8 rigs use M4 chassis screws into the bulkheads. I would recommend verifying the thread size you want be it M3, M4, or M5 and order accordingly. Just need sufficient surrounding plastic to accommodate the helicoils to really lock them in. Thin areas probably won't work because the plastic can crack.

Question about the punch. With my HW setup I’ve been afraid to run it past punch setting 5, and usually run on 4. I was having issues with my new build so I’ve kind of been a big ol’ P about it worrying about stripping out my diffs. Am I worrying for nothing and should I turn it up over 5? Thanks man!!!
I usually max the punch out with all my rigs so I have maximum power when I need or want it. Because this Max4 combo is sensored, it's still super smooth overall and my trigger finger dictates when I want to dump the throttle 😱🚀🚀. My approach has been max punch for years so long as the rig responds accordingly.
@@richduperbash2966 Hmmmm. I think I got it. With my “standard” K8s exb on 12s (standard cause it’s not my mega Kraton build) I currently have the HW M5G2 with sensored 800kv. I definitely like it wayyyy better when the punch setting is at a higher setting but have been a bit gun shy. I’ll do some testing today and see how it goes. Thanks man.
Think I have my brake at 50% and max punch. BEC advanced to 8.4V. She feels 100% better than my first run, especially with full power to my Hobbystar 70kg servo.
Ty 4 that info do you also use grease or oil with your ear plugs or just the ear plugs bye them self with out oil. Also how many ear plugs do you use normally
You can mix different silicone diff fluid with the silicone ear plugs, but I do straight ear plug. Normally pack in probably 1 and 1/4 plug. The ear plugs are probably at least twice the viscosity of 20mil diff fluid. Both are like putty in the hands.
@richduperbash2966 I had the wrong silicone ear plugs I just found the correct stuff. I went to the drug store they had the correct ones. Yep it's like soft putty I put some in about 1 and a 1/4 of them that really firmed it up I can turn it with the super gear bye hand while holding the drive cup with small screw driver is that correct tension?

If it's for the K8s I always recommend silicone ear plugs. I use Rite aid brand premium. If you're talking about 6s, I recommend 500k center. 1 million weight works well too, especially for the longer Fireteam.
What's the overall weight with lipos and top speed? Without specs, this is just another sped-up land rip video, no disrespect, but we've seen this before. It doesn't appear any faster than the geared-up 8S Arrma rigs...
Like I said in my build vid, the total weight with Zeee 7000mah 6s packs (fully loaded) with MX57's and body is 36 lbs. Speed = fast enough for bashing 😂. No disrespect, but this 12s rig accelerates much faster than any geared up 8s rig. That's due to a crazy difference in raw torque. If you can't fathom the rate of speed in the video, build your own and see for yourself. 🍻

Congrats Brother 😱. Awesome choice. I usually run lighter compact size 6s single packs. Generally no bigger than 5200mah. Hobbystar, Zeee, and Ovonic all make lighter options. The rig is more balanced staying lighter and handles better.

I'm still running the same Proline MX57's from my first run. I mistakenly said they were belted (like the Masher X's), but they're actually just made of crazy durable reinforced rubber.
Awesome but those Armas are crap everything I ran mine it broke , if you had that setup on a xrt Traxxas you wouldn't be having these issues Traxxas tuff baby . Arma is garbage .
I run both rigs so I know them both extremely well. The XRT is much lighter, but it will break in half like the XMaxx if you play too rough and needs a butt load of upgrades to make right. That's the cost of having a plastic core. When the flexing stops, the breaking starts. And then there's the pot metal gears. I enjoy them for what they are, but have no illusions about which rig can handle more regular hard use. All these rigs break when you play hard enough or screw up and spike them awkwardly. It's just physics.

@8:30 it hauling ass..@6:30 that was a good distance jump even with a steep ramp. That 12s does slap hard tho. I thought 8s 8000mah was bad. Stay safe out there Bro. I was thinking while watching again... wouldnt it be good if you occasionaly releast a full list of breakages over time so us guys know what works. Pretty obvious to the trained eye whats beffier for the money. I even wonder about stock tie rod ends etc vs hiem joints for reliaity and weight over busted stock turnbuckles etc. Always a tradeoff but would make for some good diagnosis on heavier setups. Good servo saver an she will be right vs busted rims. Vitavon seems the go if it dont pull thru the chasis.
Always wondered what you thought of sway bars. I run 5mm rear 4mm front and goes good and helps stability.

everyone, but spare arms, composite ball cups, hinge pins, hardware, and wing mounts are all good to have handy. A full breakage list overtime may be useful 🤔. Plastics wear out overtime as you know. Upgrades are always a personal thing, some are great, others not so much 😂. I'm not a fan of the Vitavon servo saver design. Their raised ESC mount busted several times on my buddies rig. Often the simplest solutions are the best. I pulled off my sway bars a long time ago. They kept yanking out and jamming up my out drives. Appreciate your thoughts and kind words Brother!!! 🍻

Thank you Brother 🤗. I haven't had any fitment issues with the Vitavon bulkheads. Diff tolerances seem on point. Some of the fastener lengths are different from stock, but it is aftermarket. Usually use a single stock bearing shim (just like stock) on the crown gear side bearing. I haven't tried the Vitavon ARRMA diffs yet.

Hey Rich have you been able to clock a speed or height ur getting on this thing at all? Seeing this is making me want to get back into the hobby. I had some health issues so I ended up selling my rigs. Slowly getting on the mend and as soon as I get my vehicle I will definitely be getting a new rig. Been missing it too much. Can you give us a link to the helicoil kit you used or would recommend? This is a great idea for the stripped composite threads. I end up using CA glue to hold the bolts when they strip out. The helicoil looks like a more permanent solution.

I appreciate it. So, those sizes should be good for most of our 1/8 and 1/6 scale rigs I’m assuming.
Most 1/8 rigs use M4 chassis screws into the bulkheads. I would recommend verifying the thread size you want be it M3, M4, or M5 and order accordingly. Just need sufficient surrounding plastic to accommodate the helicoils to really lock them in. Thin areas probably won't work because the plastic can crack.

I would Grab a M5 and M4 helicoil kit for the 8s rigs for sure. Those are the primary thread sizes.
I think for anything above 8s I’d recommend QS10’s considering the amount of amperage you’ll pull on 50 volts

Awesome rich how much does that thing weight over the stock K8 EXB rtr ? I'm guessing probably over 5 or 7 pounds with everything. She took it like a camp. 12S looks insane plus now you never have to worry about over heating even in the desert where you live. 👍👊💪🤘

Can’t wait to upgrade to Mega Outcast. It’s been upgraded for a while with mostly M2C parts. I want to feel that true Max 4 12s power. What’s the difference between the Mega Outcast and Mega Kraton?
As far as I know, the wheelbase is the only difference. Outcast will still be shorter and likely to wheelie and stunt easier than the longer Kraton.

What gear pitch does it use?
Running mod 1 main gears. That's an optional 39T ARRMA spur. Think there's aftermarket mod 1.5 gears available that would fit the center gear shaft.
Question about the punch. With my HW setup I’ve been afraid to run it past punch setting 5, and usually run on 4. I was having issues with my new build so I’ve kind of been a big ol’ P about it worrying about stripping out my diffs. Am I worrying for nothing and should I turn it up over 5? Thanks man!!!
I usually max the punch out with all my rigs so I have maximum power when I need or want it. Because this Max4 combo is sensored, it's still super smooth overall and my trigger finger dictates when I want to dump the throttle 😱🚀🚀. My approach has been max punch for years so long as the rig responds accordingly.
@@richduperbash2966 Hmmmm. I think I got it. With my “standard” K8s exb on 12s (standard cause it’s not my mega Kraton build) I currently have the HW M5G2 with sensored 800kv. I definitely like it wayyyy better when the punch setting is at a higher setting but have been a bit gun shy. I’ll do some testing today and see how it goes. Thanks man.

Think I have my brake at 50% and max punch. BEC advanced to 8.4V. She feels 100% better than my first run, especially with full power to my Hobbystar 70kg servo.

I lowered the brake to 50%. Most times with my other rigs I run 37%. This 560kv is just a different animal with 42/39 gearing.

Hi Richy got question for you about your center diff what kinda of ear plugs do you use in them silicone or foam cheap type ty Sir.
I use Rite aid brand premium silicone ear plugs. Just have to pack them in carefully and not overfill the diff cup.
Ty 4 that info do you also use grease or oil with your ear plugs or just the ear plugs bye them self with out oil. Also how many ear plugs do you use normally

You can mix different silicone diff fluid with the silicone ear plugs, but I do straight ear plug. Normally pack in probably 1 and 1/4 plug. The ear plugs are probably at least twice the viscosity of 20mil diff fluid. Both are like putty in the hands.
@richduperbash2966 I had the wrong silicone ear plugs I just found the correct stuff. I went to the drug store they had the correct ones. Yep it's like soft putty I put some in about 1 and a 1/4 of them that really firmed it up I can turn it with the super gear bye hand while holding the drive cup with small screw driver is that correct tension?

If it's for the K8s I always recommend silicone ear plugs. I use Rite aid brand premium. If you're talking about 6s, I recommend 500k center. 1 million weight works well too, especially for the longer Fireteam.
What's the overall weight with lipos and top speed? Without specs, this is just another sped-up land rip video, no disrespect, but we've seen this before. It doesn't appear any faster than the geared-up 8S Arrma rigs...
Like I said in my build vid, the total weight with Zeee 7000mah 6s packs (fully loaded) with MX57's and body is 36 lbs. Speed = fast enough for bashing 😂. No disrespect, but this 12s rig accelerates much faster than any geared up 8s rig. That's due to a crazy difference in raw torque. If you can't fathom the rate of speed in the video, build your own and see for yourself. 🍻

Yes. The gears can take it no problem if the cases and bulkheads are intact and hardware stays snugged.

Congrats Brother 😱. Awesome choice. I usually run lighter compact size 6s single packs. Generally no bigger than 5200mah. Hobbystar, Zeee, and Ovonic all make lighter options. The rig is more balanced staying lighter and handles better.

I'm still running the same Proline MX57's from my first run. I mistakenly said they were belted (like the Masher X's), but they're actually just made of crazy durable reinforced rubber.

The Max4 is 300A rated. It has telemetry capability to pull graph data on a laptop, but I haven't done it. I'm a fairly low tech dude to be honest 😂

Awesome but those Armas are crap everything I ran mine it broke , if you had that setup on a xrt Traxxas you wouldn't be having these issues Traxxas tuff baby . Arma is garbage .
I run both rigs so I know them both extremely well. The XRT is much lighter, but it will break in half like the XMaxx if you play too rough and needs a butt load of upgrades to make right. That's the cost of having a plastic core. When the flexing stops, the breaking starts. And then there's the pot metal gears. I enjoy them for what they are, but have no illusions about which rig can handle more regular hard use. All these rigs break when you play hard enough or screw up and spike them awkwardly. It's just physics.
