*I'm deaf in my right ear which is why I'm not wearing headphones. I know, it's a bummer not to get the panning sounds. It's also been a bummer to only have one ear my whole life for lots of other reasons, like, playing telephone growing up, I was terrible at it. But, I'll be ok, and I'm getting both channels in the earbud, thanks for your concern :)

Do Smile from their lost album Eros. They also performed it live at Dia De Los Deftones as a tribute to Chi Cheng (eros was being worked on around the time that Chi was in his accident)
Yes, when I learned about that song recently, I listened to the shit out of it. It's entrancing. Top 3 unreacted to, along w/ Drive, and Mascara. No Ordinary Love sounds great. Don't know if it's great for lyrical analysis. Should listen to Bored for relevance, just not a song that I particularly like.
Smile is cool.
Lovers is REALLY good.
But.....Dallas is AMAZING. Sadly, it's just a demo with no vocals....just instruments. But it's gorgeous. I can easily see Chino coming up with something amazing on top of it. Easily one of my favorite Deftones songs.....if only they'd finish it. :(

When I first listened to this album Good Morning Beautiful was the second track that really stood out to me. Very underrated dark and seductive song on this very dark album. Its crazy good and the vocal melody just twists into something else. Love it. As for Moana? It took a lot of listens for it to grow on me but after playing this album through games on my original Xbox I started to associate it with those positive times so now its like a nostalgic vibe everytime I hear it. There is one more important track thats a B side for this album called Lovers that I really hope you visit. For the record here are the tracks I'm most interested in you reacting to in their catalog:

Jersh, happy to see you return to the Deftones reactions, it's been a minute.
GMB was a favorite since I heard them play it live on the Guerrila Tour 2003 right before the album came out. It has all the ingredients of of a 90's hit alternative rock song but the way Chino chooses to sing it and the tuning Stef and Chi chose to play it in give it this eerie askew feeling that underscores the bittersweet emotions that underpin the song. It's a really interesting approach to what could have been a rather conventional song in other people's hands.
"Moana" is an odd one as it is the closing track on this album whereas the track preceding it "Anniversary of an Unintresting Event" seems like the natural closer, so in a way it has an encore quality. It's a good song that has grown on me over time but it feels kind of unfinished.

@@SOMA-no2gq well "Savory" is technically a Far song featuring members of Deftones and also a cover itself of a Jawbox song, so I didn't include it. Hoping Jersh does the Far catalog one day and it can be included there.
@@pushpauseandwave Yes you are right it technically isn't Deftones covering in the studio.. but I just saw a few old live performances of them covering it as well as a more recent performance so I thought I'd throw it in anyways lol.. can replace it with Drive or Simple Man.

How in the hell did I forget this song. I loved this track off Diamond Eyes, its catchy as hell. Poltergeist is another I forgot about thats great.

pleeeeease do the b-side from this album, Lovers. basically self-titled is by far my fav Deftones album/era, but Lovers would have made a much better end to the record

I wish they remastered the track and re-released the album with it.. the quality isn't that great audio wise, especially for a song that good..

He's baaaack! Cleared out that album now also. #2, along w/ White Pony. I would say Around the Fur is under-covered, relatively speaking. Mascara's the best one left. They did a covers album. Best covers are Drive and No Ordinary Love, imo. And had an unreleased album they started working on before Chi died. Then leaked out a song called Smile. Check 'er out.
