"It's alot quieter." That made me smile. I've heard so many people complain about how loud it is in the S series cab. And it was SUPPOSED to be quieter than the previous 9X70s. Cousin got an S670 this year, but I didn't get a chance to ride with him to see what it's like. I was surprised to see the Deere 4WD still around. I figured the Steiger took its place. Enjoyed the video as always!
Thanks! Last year I went out with my husband in the JD combine to do corn and we took our 1.5 year old. It was so loud, the kid was scared and crying. I couldn't stand it myself! Then on top of the loud noise, my husband had to turn the wheel 14 revolutions to do a full turn - I guess JD did some "fix" to it but that only took it down a couple of turns. His arm was sore by the time combining was done! So they got rid of that combine and went with this and we like it so much better. I actually did the corn combining and enjoyed it - much nicer than the ride I took last year in the JD. As for the tractors, they like the steiger better than the JD! My husband always liked the green equipment but there have been many more benefits to the red that he has learned to have an open mind and made some changes that are for the better with the farm equipment....Heather
BLACK EARTH EXCAVATION I have a cousin that rented an 8270R to plant beans with this past spring, and he hated the steering on it, even compared to their 8310R. It was the same as you discussed, he had to turn the wheel a lot more revolutions in order to make a turn in the 270. I'm glad your family is finding what they like. Lower cost is one of the bigger benefits to going red. But like you said in another comment, if it works, it works! Look forward to more videos, have a Merry Christmas!
Brent Jarnecke Yes, the difference in cost is pretty significant. It's always ingrained in your mind that you get better for an item that costs more (and I think my husband expected JD to be better), but that is not always the case (haha - play on words)! Thanks for the comment! We hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas as well.
my grand daddy was green daddy was green i was green when case came out with the rotor they went so for ahead and never looked back and just kept getting better
The only thing worse than terraced land is rocky terraced land. I spent over half my life dealing with it. Always envied the flat landers with they're black soil. But you play the hand you're dealt. Do you ever mow your terraces? If we didn't. Tree's would take them in just a few years. Our fields are just little patches between the woods. Thanks for sharing.
what is the configuration of the concaves on your machine? We have a 8120 with a 30 ft FD70 header and run round bars for front two and large skip wire in back 2 for edible beans. Have a hard time if the plant still has some green stem and have had trouble with the frame around the rotor coming loose and cracking.
Did I hear you right 83 bu an acre?? A friend of mine down in corydon hit 55bu the year. Is that average a year or just a really good year for your part of Iowa??
We had a very good year, that farm had an overall average of 68 bushels to acre where as normal year would make around 50 .. in the "good ground" places the monitor would hold 90 to 92 bushels an acre for a ways
I believe the average around down home is about 35 to 45 bushels an acre. I think He doesn't have a monitor to tell him on the go. Because the combine is a 1460 IH. Old but the old girl didn't break down at all when in the fleid next to us a John deere broke down. haha Don't get me wrong I like all farming equipment. haha

Unfortunately paying a premium doesn't always guarantee superior quality these days. Haha those words worked out perfectly! And thank you as well!
