    Ford saying no to Kyle Larson is really the straw that broke the camel’s back. Once Kevin harvick left that was really the end of SHR

    also don't forget: Tony Stewart spent years asking for a Cup race at Eldora, so when they covered Bristol in Dirt instead he was very public about how he felt about that
    so losing Larson, NASCAR blowing him off, maybe in his eyes he felt like these were all signs to leave...

      @@hunternixonfishing2500 While it may be true that they hit their peak in 2020, it is also true that the likelihood of them ever matching that kind of speed was slim to none. The politics in NASCAR was the downfall of shr. Stewart lost interest because he wasn't able to run his own team how he wanted to and Nascar lost a competitive operation that could have been a staple for years. If they're not careful the same thing will happen with Michael Jordan and 23/11.

    I think Tony Stewart has been falling out of love for the sport for a while. I think he didn't care for the playoff format too much, but that was minor. When the Kevin Ward incident happened it looked like the enthusiasm he had for racing was gone. Then NASCAR pulled out of Eldora which he probably took as a slight. Then Ford said no to Kyle Larson and they came out with the next gen car prohibiting alterations to it. It was a bunch of decisions that just destroyed his love for the sport.

    SHRs downfall was harvicks retirement. and stewarts inability to take that role over, Cant expect briscoe to run the show and help the new guys. heres to hoping each driver and crew finds new homes to make new stories with. and lets be honest, it was more like See-Harvick Racing for wins rather than Stewart-Haas Racing.

They were sold to Mars Confectionary Co. for $237 Million (almost a quarter of a BILLION DOLLARS) in 2020 (nearly EIGHT times more than the settlement fee that they had to pay to SHR in the Danica Lolsuit, which was due to Patrick failing to properly endorse the company as per contractual stipulations), and are still going strong today with their massive Salt Lake City complex in Utah.

    While '08 was indeed abysmal for the #70, their average finish wasn't quite as bad as you indicated. It was 32.0. 36.8 would put them on par with Jeb Burton's 2015 with BK Racing, where he never finished better than 27th. And they only wound up 43rd thanks to a 150 point penalty. Without it they would have beaten Furniture Row Joe for 42nd.

    Selling their soul to Kevin Harvick is what killed SHR. Look how many teams & driver's careers were sacrificed just to keep Harvick top priority. Look how SHR was prior to their sellout.
    Then sure enough the year after Harvick retires, the team shuts down. Coincidence? I think not.

    • @NeoEonX
      @NeoEonX 3 місяці тому +6

      Having a guy be top priority isn’t a deal breaker. Look at Hendrick. Even they had a down year or two after Gordon retired and Johnson’s Pocono crash that effectively ended his competitive career. But the difference is they had a succession plan. Elliott was proven in XFinity, Byron tore it up in the lower series, and Bowman had Cup experience and proved to be consistent. They still retained a sensible “pecking order” during the transition from Gordon-Johnson leading the team to Elliot-Byron (now Larson with Byron and Elliott battling for 2nd on the team) SHR never really had that. They had Harvick and some good veterans, but they didn’t have young talent ready to replace them one at a time. All they really had was Harvick and Childers and they hadn’t done a good enough job of supporting Briscoe to help him be ready to lead the team when Harvick inevitably retired.

It’s respectable and understandable, but when you want a good dirt guy in a car instead of someone with money, and you lose Busch Light, Hunt Brothers, and GearWrench to other teams all in one fell swoop, it’s going to be hard to maintain funding for one team, much less four.

    Two faced simp, "murdering" Tony, was instrumental in ending SHR. But Gene Haas was smart enough to retain 51% and only give tony 49% of SHR. With NASCAR not being real "cozy" with Haas and tony being the loud-mouth dork he always is, they were never going to be like the rest of NASCAR's show ponys. With NASCAR about to get a big kick in the nads from antitrust practices, Gene Haas comes out smelling like a rose.

    Tony being a "gm loyalist" is goofy considering he decided to switch to Ford, and something about Harvick being unhappy with that. Kinda screwed kevin out of that "lifetime achievement recognition" award thing that chevy gave to retiring drivers that only ever drove bowties, so whenever even nazitrash Ford told Stewart "lol no lmao" to getting kyle? I'd say Kevin was screaming internally with laughter at Tony being pissed off about that

    Gene Haas is a horrible leader. His "success" is always short lived, he's had troubles with following laws, and he has no sense of how to establish realistic goals let alone how to actually achieve them.
    Stewart was a fool for partnering with Gene.
