Hi Andrew, another great upload and what a grand place to camp, beautiful spot 👌🏻. That 500x of yours certainly is a great workhorse and gets you about a bit to some wonderful places, all the best 👍🏻
Cracking overview of the location Andrew, not been yet. I gather its very popular with Wild Campers thankfully not the type that leave all their crap behind ie minority "Neds" ruining it,hence the adverse attention of the Warden.. I think i have seen youtube videos of this place used in Winter, however I also have a thought that the road is closed off during Winter, not able to confirm this. Also without doubt Glen Trool has to be the worst place in my memory for Midges and ive been bitten all over Scotland, wouldn't stop my camping though.
thanks Tony, brilliant places to be found other than those pesky midges!! Yes, think you're right with the road being closed in winter, although I suspect a bike could still sneak in, probably good to visit early or late rather than middle of summer, but it is unfortunate that idiots spoil things for those that are responsible....
Thanks for this useful info. Watched some of your videos and now subscribed to your channel. I do landscape photography and combine it with motorcycling, so this info is more than welcome. Grt, from Belgium.
Pleased you liked it and than you for subscribing, I’ve also subbed your channel…wish I was good at taking photos and had a good camera but iPhone will have to do for now 😂 keep safe, regards Andrew
It looks a really nice place Andrew👌like you say though, a good spot for the Autumn/winter when those pesky days trippers are fewer🤣 I'm loving these reviews bud👍still looking forward to the RR L2 stuff thats on its way😉
Get a good midgie head net 😂 seriously! If you get there early, I’d just chill out, wander about, go dip your feet in the water and wait until majority of day visitors have gone, still plenty of time to put tent up. I pitched next to picnic table, which was handy, and also take drinking water as no taps there, but there is a good toilet facility. Although I didn’t see any, apparently there are otters in that stretch of water so I guess if quiet you might just be lucky. When I went there were temporary signs saying no overnight parking but I ignored that with my motorcycle as did others in vans. Also, good cafe at Clatteringshaws Visitor Centre to the West along Raiders Road. Magical place once day visitors gone, hope you enjoy it, regards Andrew
@@dannyoutdoors5322 it’s a great life outdoors, I particularly like wild camping and will be doing much more as time goes on….just need to get a grip of my new DD Tarp!
Fantastic spot and yes, BBQ okay, a few families were doing so, but obviously taking usual precautions and most do so on the big flat rocks or picnic tables with something underneath and away from the trees 👍🏻
@@geoffcrimmins8542 there were some signs when I visited but several vans parked there overnight without problem, I took my bike with me too the picnic area but big stones would have stopped anything bigger!
Yes, this one would be difficult David but have you thought of somewhere like the Lake District as you can wild camp in some beautiful places and only short walks from really good bus routes that take you into the heart of the valleys and mountains. The other place that. Would work is the Isle of Bute, train station from Glasgow direct to the port with ferry to island and sandy bays to wild camp on! A lot depends on where you live but honestly I think with a bit of research and planning you could manage something David and I hope you manage…..Let me know if you need any more info or if I think of something I’ll message you👍🏻
@@thecampingbiker791 I'm checking out Moffat today, it's a Dark Sky town and supposedly plenty of wild camping spots. So just scouting there today to see what it's like. Thanks for the suggestions though 😁
Yeah it could be a beutiful place to camp however yesterdsay my friend and fellow motorcyclist were told no wild camping as now it is a tourist area.. Forest ranger told us that if we could find a spot on the way back up raiders road it wouldnt be a problem . We did and enjoyed the night , but to travel so far into the forest on that shit road to be told to turn around was heartbreaking .. So listen dont even bother trying to wild camp at Otterspool ................

Cheers Dave, these places can be magic when day trippers have left….yes, that’s a great way of describing the bike..a proper little workhorse!
What a fantastic place, great vid as always Andrew
Cheers Chris, I’ve marked this one down for a winter camp 👍🏻
@@thecampingbiker791 it’d be much better then. No midges
@@tweetchris46 indeed it would 😆

There’s another good place to visit, anywhere along Loch Doon as it feels remote, just a few miles North of Otter Pool
Awesome place! You couldn’t decide between ruby or gold...and got both! Lol
Absolutely Aun, very difficult choice (talking beer now) but I thought it was a fine compromise 😂
Is it free parking at the otter pools please mate great vid
Yes, free parking and thank you for the kind comment

Great camping 🏕 spot but the gravel road is horrible especially on a Ducati Multistrada
I bet, plenty of stones getting thrown about with my tyres 😂
Wouldn't like to have taken my FJR1300 along that may have been a bit hairy!!!
Just wish these places were accessible using public transport. I don't drive so getting there would be a pain.

I camped at clatteringshaws loch
Looked nice at Clatteringshaws
@@thecampingbiker791 it was lovely could park right near helpful with kids 😉
@@MumLifeUK694 nice one 👍🏻
can u give me post code for the location bu
Nearest I could do is the visitor centre at Clatteringshaws House, New Galloway, Castle Douglas DG7 3SQ. From there it’s very easy to find 👍🏻
Went 20/07/21 no overnight parking signs all over Oter pool carpark
i might have to find a different spot then unless its tolerated for a night..
They updated it so you "can't camp " there now but go at 930pm and you can 😅
