Alexa, I accept your deal!!! Today September 25th, I’m creating my very first long video tutorial, longer than 10 minutes. And you’re right, it has been a huge mental struggle to write, record, edit and publish, knowing the final video is not the vision and quality I have in mind. Nevertheless, I’m pushing myself to go through the process and upload on Tuesday, October 1st 2024. Get a plastic guasha and keep it in the shower, plastic so it doesn’t break if it falls
Learn to do face massage on the shower with a cleansing oil bioderma is my fav at target so good and affordable and non drying
I put a scoop of lavender Epsom salt in the corner of my shower
I shower with the lights off and only a night light
I relax and rinse and negative from the day off, and open myself to all good that is ment for me.
Mix organic hexane free caster oil in your face moisturizer
You don’t need a guasha you can use your hands with the cleansing oil

Yell at me!!! This is the truth! So many people want the 'aesthetics' when it's not necessary! I will watch any UA-camr as long as I'm laughing, gaining knowledge, and/or being entertained! I'm filming my first vid this Saturday. Question: does it REALLY take 5-8 hours to edit a video? If so, why?

I learned to make pretty good Thumbnails, have good Tags, a good description, high quality videos with good information (and no, I do not use a teleprompter, but I do memorize y script in batches and then glue them together through editing), but it may still not sound completely natural, but it's good enough for now and very well thought through.
I optimized my channel the best I know how and uploaded regularly for the last month, but not one new Subbscriber, very low views, no comments and barely any LIKES.....I give up!

I set up my channel but haven’t posted a video yet. I will, however. I made myself participate in a consignment sale, so for days I’ve worked like a demon on that bc of the required deadlines. Good advice, as usual, & I appreciate your enthusiasm!
I think this is spot on, even people who have started and are already making videos can over think stuff, i am terrible at this, im a year in and over think about analytics, ctr, views etc, i think everyone should just relax and keep posting content or just start, the results of viewer feedback and comments will show what you need to do, not numbers on a screen, this is just my little thought on it, do not worry what anyone thinks, you will find the right people, be it 1, 10, 1000 or even 100000 just post and find them. :)
Yep. Definitely been there. :) I'm mid-leap now, really working on producing videos consistently and forcing myself to actually act like I believe "done is better than perfect". :)

I am going to be 60 years old in two months and my goal is to have my UA-cam channel and a video ready to go on my birthday. Now my stumbling block is I don’t know what to call my channel and I don’t know exactly what to focus on. I don’t want to be too niche and I don’t want to be too general because I have a lot of interests, a lot of knowledge, a lot of ideas and I don’t want to get locked into one thing. I would love to start having more adventures even being a hometown tourist and video those things. I am creative and I like to make things and I would like to share that. I’m a speech pathologist and I have 40 years of experience with that, but honestly, I’d like to be retired from that soon and that’s not what I want to do with my channel. I want to travel and share that. I want to garden and share that. I don’t know if people do such variety and are successful. Most channels have one direction one type of thing they are either decluttering or coaching new UA-cam people or sharing how to do photography. I have found a couple people that go to different places and film those things and that may be what I do but it’s going to be so random. I don’t know if people will care. But also I don’t actually really care if people care I would love for some of my videos to do well enough to eventually get monetized for a supplemental retirement income. I’m just talking out loud here, but I love that you are saying basically just do it. Maybe as I get going I will see what some people tend to gravitate to and maybe make more videos along that line. I don’t know, but you and a few other people that I’ve watched said, just do it. So thank you for your motivation.

Time to speak Finnish! I did it I posted my first video!!! This is my first video where I am actually intentionally focusing my chanel into a given niche, AI and Creativity. Thank you for this challenge Alexa. I took the challenge recorded and uploaded to get the momentum going. I love editing but I knew if I didn't just do it raw unedited at this point I would keep the procrastintion cycle going. Momentum is key and yes ideas are already sparking for my next video. So, if I keep posting videos will you keep speaking Finnish? 😊

This is some of the best advice that I have heard on my journey and blogging and Instagram and Pinterest and UA-cam. That as long as I’m helping people nobody cares what I look like. I have been struggling with this issue from my start and just in the last year willing to be more real, no makeup and just share my recipes that have helped me feed my family. I needed to hear this today.
I recorded video on how to fix your car's A/C if it breaks, all I need to do is upload. Also going to create a video on how to build a desktop PC from scratch and a video on how to setup a drip irrigation system... lots of content I can create ... Just finished my UA-cam Studio ... Hello from an American mother of five in New Zealand! I have been loving your videos and half way through this I popped over to my channel, made a few shorts and hit publish. I've definitely been overanalyzing and waiting until the perfect moment. Those don't exist in thos homeschooling household! The Psalms in the Garden are for regular short vids so I am uploading something with minimal editing. The passion is around people learning to live their faith out, even when faced with hardship as we did when we lost one of our sons last year. I appreciate your encouragement and will get on with writing the scripts!

Okay, a thought experiment. You basically say that you don't make a nicer background because you want to help us. But what if you get a nicer background there might be more of us so then you will have more succes with helping us.
Usually, at the beginning UA-camrs go through all the faces of development. Most begin with horrible videos. You skipped a few classes, mostly because of your background as an online teacher. You did something very similar in your previous job, so you already had some of the skills. So you rushed through monetization, you rushed towards the first 10k subscribers, that most others never reach. You are climbing up that ladder faster than most of the other UA-camrs.
However, when you get higher up that ladder, the competition gets tougher. Let me try to explain. When you start a UA-cam channel you get first the viewers that were almost made for you. They are in the very center of your niche. That is the low hanging fruit. Your videos have specific elements and your first viewers just like those exact elements. UA-cam know by AI what your videos are about, which resolution they have, which collors are in your videos, etc, etc. UA-cam also knows all these preferences from all the viewers. At first UA-cam will try to make a perfect match. The amount of people that make a perfect a match is however limited so you already have subscribers that are less than a perfect match. Your videos are however so much better than other UA-camr so that you are getting a bigger circle.
If you want to get higher up on that ladder you have to catch up on those lessons that you skipped in the first place. You did not get a nice background but you compensated that with your energy and communication and teaching skills that most of us don't have at the beginning. At this level your competition also has good communication skills. At this level your competition also has the energy to make a good performance. However they also have a nice background. They also know how to frame themselves. They also have lights, better cameras, etc. So, do you want to stay at this level or do you want to 10x?

After 2.5 months, If I remember correctly. I started offering it at 60$/hr then 75/hr now two months in 150/ hr hope this helps!

I'm hoping to film for my next video on Friday......that's if they got the weather forecast correct! I film outdoors on my mobility scooter, so the weather determines when I can film. I'll keep my fingers 🤞for friday. I live in NW, UK, which is well known for wet weather . I read somewhere that in 2023, the UK had 171 days when it rained......maybe I ought to consider moving to a sunnier country 😂
We are expecting 12" of rain in the next 3 days! Here in the valleys of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina, USA (think Scotland) we get 65 inches of rain annually. 110" on the surrounding mountain tops. Your little rides looked interesting so I subscribed. You could do voice over on rainy days.

Hey John. even if you think you are not as good looking as the next person, people accept what other people look like once they meet them. If you don't post how are they going to meet you? And, you don't have to post your picture. 75% of my vidios don't show my image. Try photographing a video showing only your hands. Guess what? You have one subscriber without even posting a video. That wouldn't have happened if you didn't post your concerns here on Alexa's channel. Be Bold!
My goal is to post 2x per week, when it comes to the time of day we are posting… how much does that matter? I’m assuming sticking to the 2x per week is more important ?
I would try to post same time, same day. Other than that try not to stress! Better to post than not!

This is so me 🫣. I have the ideas but feel so unworthy and insignificant about it. As a 44 year old, I'm a full-time online grad student, and what I'm studying now is new ground for me. I have a goal and dream but feel so inadequate, yet I know the topics to talk about. I have researched so much, too. I even sign up to your one on one. I love the camera, but I just don't know where to begin here.
I'm dyslexic. (not officially but, self diagnosed). I have severe test anxiety. I couldn't even pass the graduate record exam but, I did pass 27 hours of graduate school earning myself a graduate certificate in public management. I'm guessing you can give a lot more than you think. So, just begin at the beginning and don't quit.
