Some great ideas! I definitely share your desire for more simple sets with a focus on set collecting instead of just parallel chases. I really hope they have the focus on entry level sets. The new fan sets have given me hope that they have a focus on customer acquisition and market growth but I believe the approach will be breaker-first. My fear/expectation is that Fanatics want to cash-in as soon as possible with the license and there will be maaaaany sets with Chrome and Sapphire versions printed to the point none of it will have value. I'm going to be extremely cautious in the first season with the license. Them Haaland Golds are a great example. His first season at City, the treble winning season, highest goal count, won both Young Player and Player of the Season and yet no one values them... 15 sets as an example with a gold or /50 parallel, thats 750 gold cards. After 5 years probably talking 5,000+ Haaland gold cards! I'm a cynic at heart and can't see the direction changing from the current model of feeding the hype merchant breakers.
Thanks mate. Entry level sets are key to grow and more importantly keep people in the hobby. They should promote set collecting instead of gambling via chasing hits. Eliminating/reducing numbered cards in some of these low end products is a way to do it. Yep, I think its more likely they will make lots of sets like UCC. Will just have to pick and choose what to collect. And those Haaland examples were the best gold options from that year. With say 30 UCC sets a year, he could have 40-50 different cards of the same /50 rarity. Junk hit era for sure. Chrome, Sapphire, Merlin, Stadium Club will rise to the top but not ideal having all these additional alternatives. I would consider breaking Topps EPL products if there good. Unfortunately most breakers hype any new product as they see $ signs.
