I can assure you that Geoff and the rest of the original band, sounded just like this when I saw them live in concert in the 80s! They were both authentic and captivating!
Gonna see mr.Tate live with his band in about 2 weeks! Imho one of the greatest metal vocalists ever, his vocal range and his passion in singing can't be confused with anyone else and that is not easy. Thanks for another awesome Thursday guys!
Oh, this does take me back... In 1984~1985, I bought a VHS tape compilation of music videos. Two videos instantly made me a fan of the respective bands. Incidentally, both bands featured an amazing vocalist. The videos? Iron Maiden's "Aces High" and Queensrÿche's "Queen of the Reich". The latter is not a classic by any means, "just" a good song, but it made me seek out the band's debut EP, and that EP contained also "The Lady Wore Black" - an instant classic! 34~35 years later, it's still amazing.
I've been a big fan of Queensryche since they first started. I've seen them several times in concert, always a great show. Geoff Tate's voice is so unique, just sad that he's not with them anymore, but Todd La Torre has a great voice as well. By the way in 1984 I had just joined the Air Force :)
I'm new to your channel and I was watching and going through your videos and ran across this, OMG!!! This is my one of my favorite songs of all time!! I always said this was my song. Absolutely love the lyrics!! Thanks for sharing this!!!!!
Catching up with _reactions_ of yours I forgot to watch *over* the last "1 month", with quick comments, *part 3:* Holy crap, this was 35 years ago! I remeber trying to get this on VHS back in the 1980s, unsuccessfully :( _Rage for Order_ was my first Queensrÿche, then I got the previous CDs... and everyone knows _what_ album came next. Geoff *really* hooked my from the start back in the day! Watching this now makes me again wish the rumor about a Bruce Dickinson / Rob Halford / Geoff Tate "Three Tenors" project had become a reality (apparently it was a joke by the manager of Maiden)... I too am amazed how good the quality of the video is, being of "Standard Definition" quality. Thank you, guys, for a flashback to my childhood :)
I was 16 and had just started playing drums. Amid all the talent in the band, I often thought Scott Rockenfeld (kickass name for a drummer by the) was overlooked. One of my top 3 bands, all time.
Geoff Tate, for years, always sounded this good. So did guitarist Chris Degarmo. You heard my favorite musical form, the Power Ballad and that was one of the better ones you’ll hear. You also need to realize that this song was on their earliest album from 1983. They got even tighter and more cohesive as they went. I would suggest, however, if you really want to hear what vocalist Geoff Tate can do, listen to Take Hold of the Flame from the very same concert. Many people through UA-cam are starting to find that song and be amazed by it. I like your style. I will check out more reactions from you.
ooh guys! Queensrÿche just came to my mind in the past few days, and I haven't listened to them a long while ago. In the mentioned few days they music was on loop... it must be some MetalSage stuff... Queensrÿche is so awesome. Mr. Tate can be a guest of Avantasia in their tours. Lets don't let hope die!
Back in the day my parents had one of those mail order cd programs and had to buy so many every month. I seen one their albums and randomly had my parents order it. I still enjoy this band to this day and have their cd still. Could you guys react to Dust in Mind - This is the End.
Lol you were 6 yrs old when this came out hell I was 23 and you look older than me with that bald head and grey beard😂!🤘bro I'm just poking alittle fun
Having heard this song performed live on more than one occasion, I can tell you, not much else comes close when it comes to goose bumps,

Dude's, you need to do a reaction to Take Hold Of The Flame. Same concert! Geoff kills it.
On a side note, he wrote the song to honor his Cherokee heritage!
THE DRUMMER IS GREAT
One Word .... love.. brings me back👍🏼🤘🏼
Jason Richardson & Luke Holland - Tendinitis!!
Tate pretty much in a league of his own at that time.
I HIGHLY recommend Operation Mindcrime...as an album review. It isn't meant to be segmented.
