Great review. Plus I just realised how smart you are... UA-cam is a business, your channel features beer.. You can claim beer as a company expense! You played that game very well ;)
Haha bro this thing is incredible, but don't feel like you have to buy all these things I talk about. Just here to give some insight on some cool stuff lol. Thanks dude, always appreciate it, you rock!
It's a really great storage solution and it condenses all of TMB to a single Kallax cube. Note a Kallax cube is 336x336mm and the trove fits with a few mm to spare. So if yours doesn't fit either your Kallax isn't correct or your Trove is misshaped.. so measure it (Trove should be 333x333). I personally don't think it's robust due to the type of joints they have used and it's possibly why yours doesn't fit? It took 3 for me and even the last replacement I got was just ok.. Overall I'd not use it for transport and keep it in a Kallax and if not be very careful when you move it. My tip is use Tweezers when you fit the chip tray stickers and a dab of strong glue can help stop them popping off. BTW The Red Scar Tokens are the same width and length as a die so stack nicely in a Dice tray.. you don't have the room for more trays due to your extra poker chips though. I also kept the Tuck boxes but Dyno labelled the box edges. Main setup issue is the baddie chip organisation I think... Individual chip Tubes based on Type and Level may have been a better solution?
Hey RocketMagnetUK thanks for the comment! The shelves I have are "Better Home & Garden" shelves and I think they might be slightly smaller than kallax shelves. So that could be a reason they don't fit. But you are also right in that mine could just be a bit off due to the joints. Maybe mine just has slightly different dimensions, idk. Yea as far as transporting this thing, probably not going to be practical. Sure you could, but it's too heavy and like you said about the joints. I don't know how many bumpy car rides it could handle. I would just load up some stuff into the core box and take that somewhere if I needed to. And I love the Individual chip baddie tube idea! That would be awesome and I would totally get that if they offered. I think that would speed up the setup and tear down time a lot. Just grab the tubes and you're good to go. Excellent idea dude, good tip about the stickers too!
@@BrewsandBoardgames Yeah you need all of a baddie type 1,5,20 so grouping all of one type together is better than grouping all the 1s ,5s and 20s together in the trays. I Have all 1,5,20 Bog type baddies in a single chip row with the relevant 20s just after the 5's and pack out spare space with unused plastic health chips.. so each type gets its own row.. some types overspill into another row but its only a couple it much quicker setup and tear down IME and just less faff. I do think individual chip tubes for each baddie type would be better though.. just grab the relevant tube types and your GTG.
@@RocketMagnetUK Do you still use the plastic dividers between them or just group together? I do think I need to readjust my method because I'm still doing the way CTG advertised with each type and point being divided. While I don't mind it that much, a faster way would be preferred. I'll eventually get around to reorganizing and definitely keep your method in mind so thanks for that! But yea individual tubes would be really nice and super fast. Thanks for the tips dude really helpful!
@@BrewsandBoardgames I use the 1 and 5 point dividers but include the 20 pointers after the 5's with no divider.. its normally only a few chips anyway & most baddie types fit in a single row so you just lift the full rows you need. Mixed baddies get their own row.. same system. Same For the 3 Pointers. I've got a few telescopic tubes that Hope Mountain bike bottom brackets come in and they work well but i've not got enough (Hubs are £90-160 each).. could ask at your Local Bike shop if they have any spares as they will normally go in the bin. See this Video ~ 1:26 to see the tubes I'm talking about.. they are 45mm ID and the chips are 40mm. ua-cam.com/video/fHjD2Nzqnds/v-deo.html Overall a bit too long and fully screwed in they dont snug up against the chips and are 5mm too wide but if CTG offered something shorter you can see how well they could work. CTG are open to external ideas as I believe their Trove Character Dice trays are similar to a community 3D printed tray. www.thingiverse.com/thing:3985965
@@RocketMagnetUK Yea something like those tubes would be good. I think CTG could definitely do it, I was thinking of their tube from 40 days just longer depending on baddie type/point. That tube alone might work for each, just need to buy more and I don't know if they sell those tubes individually? yea CTG is a great company, one of the things I like most is their community interaction and being open to feedback and ideas. The 5s with the 20s makes sense because as you said there's not much 20s per each type.
Haha right?! Even if you didn't like this game, the trove chest will instantly make you like it lol. Thanks for the comment brother, really appreciate it!
This looks soo cool Andrew. I've been in and out of Hoplo pledge the last week since ur TMB vid adding and deleting TMB content. I read some reviews and some people mentioned you can just up your stats instead of skills which kind of ruins the experience of the skill tree of the gearlocks, I'd love to get your thoughts on this? Also I can't remember from your last vid if you mentioned your favourite player count and how fun solo play is? Also your thoughts on the repetitive day 1-3 issue?
Haha it is definitely cool, and I think if you did make the purchase it wouldn't be a bad call. But obviously everyone has different tastes, but again, it is rated very highly by many people so it's not just me lol. So on to those comments, I've seen them and I also have a personal experience with this. My step son does this, every time we play he only upgrades his stats. And he usually only plays with the same character, he usually doesn't like to deviate from what he knows. Now a few things to this, while the stats are needed to be upgraded, only doing those is no guarantee of winning. Like I mentioned in the video, some enemies have the break keyword, which means any attack dice rolled against them are exhausted and can't be used for the rest of the battle. So if you have no skill dice, you're toast. Also there is only a limited amount of defense dice you can store on your mat, so even if you are able to roll a ton of def dice, you can only use a few of them. My step son has still lost plenty of times with this method. But onto the bigger criticism with this method, where is the fun in that? Part of the whole fun about this game comes with these dice. It's cool and exciting to acquire skill dice, exploring different paths that you haven't before and using them on enemies. That is where a lot of the fun lies in this game. So if you are someone who just want's to try the same old thing, and just get the stats upgraded just because you think it might be the easier route, then this isn't for you. I've always been someone who likes to explore different things and not do whatever is expected. All games, board and video most likely have some sort of thing that might be slightly unbalanced. Whether a fighter in a fighting game, a certain card in a game, a certain faction. But who want's to only do whatever is the "easiest" method? Sure a lot of people, but that's not me, that's not fun just doing the standard, I like to try different things. I've tried to get my step son to try the tech tree, but he's not that type of person, he doesn't want to risk the unknown. Long rant but I think it's neccessary lol, and hope that helps. Favorite player count is 1 and 3. The solo is this game is amazing. They have dedicated solo encounter cards which are nice. It's basically the exact same game just with different encounters. Not like a different mode other games need to incorporate. It was designed with solo in mind and it shows. I love playing this game solo. This game scales pretty well with different player counts, and besides solo, I really like it at 3. Two players Definitely works, but I think the enemies can ramp up sometimes faster than 2 can handle. But definitely do-able. 3 players feels like there's a good balance of enemy strength and a variety of gearloc skills. 4 can feel a little too crowded on the board since the board is pretty small, but is still fun. And for the repetitive 1-3 day thing. In the core game, there is the same 1-3 day encounters, expansions do allow for different cards. However, you don't HAVE to use those cards for days 1-3. There is nothing in the book that says against it and nothing in the campaign will be out of whack for not using them. Just use regular encounter cards if you want. It won't change anything expect be slightly harder since the starting 1-3 cards are easier. Fixed lol. So yea I hope all this helped, let me know if you have any follow up questions and I'd be happy to help!

That is one badass box of goodies, wow. In your opinion, at what point is this a necessity? I am at the $220 level of Unbreakable currently and I am thinking I will add the base game in the PM. Is that content worth it alone for the trove chest? Seems like in the long run, set up will be easier for the game if I have the trove chest even if I am not using all the space it gives. And as you have told me before, once I get anything TMB, it's only a matter of time before I get more lol
Good question man. If you did go through with adding the core game and if it was still going to be the same size as it is now, I would have said Trove Chest wouldn't be needed yet. That's because the old or current core box is big enough to fit all those extra characters that you'll be buying and the 2 expansions. Then Unbreakable would just be in it's own box. That's the setup I used for months, the original box was big enough for future expansions. But the core game you'll be getting isn't the old box, it's a new slimmer size. You could probably store all 3 characters, waves and rage into lets say the rage of tyranny box. Rage and Waves only have like 16 poker chips and some cards, and the boxes are big. It's hard to say man, the thing is awesome and you most likely have made up your mind haha. It is super cool, but it's one of those things that I can't fully recommend to someone yet if they don't know if they'll like it. So let's say you did buy the Trove chest and all that stuff, and didn't like it. Dude you are going to be able to get 90% of your money back. no question. But I also did just want to add about the pledge level you selected. 2 of those expansions, Rage of Tyranny and 40 Waves in Daelore work with the Core game and Undertow. So if you're picking up the core game in the PM, you'll be able to use Rage of Tyranny, but still not 40 Waves. That one requires Undertow. And I have not but I tell you what, I have been hearing some good things recently. It's definitely starting to show up on my radar for something I want to try relatively soon, it looks fun. What kind of starting price am I looking at if I want to start?
@@BrewsandBoardgames Just get the core game, it should be around $60. Unless you know someone who has it, then just try it for free. It’s definitely a big plus if you like/know the Marvel super heroes, but even if you’re just okay with them, you can like MC. As long as you enjoy deck builders, of course. The base game has enough stuff for you to find out if it’s a game for you or not. And to keep you entertained for quite a while, if you decide you like it. If you get hooked, though, it’ll cost a bit to get everything. FFG are basically putting out one hero pack per month, and they’re releasing the third campaign box soonish. If you do get MC, and decide you like it, you’re probably going to want to sleeve the cards. If you do, don’t buy FFG’s sleeves. They make the cards very slippery. I hated them, but luckily I only bought one pack. I love MC, I own everything for it, and I play it once a week via Zoom with a friend. It’s great for two players and great solo. And it’s a LCG that’s still very much alive, and they’re still managing to make the heroes feel unique. So, highly recommended. If you do get started with it, feel free to ask questions!
@@Grognard-Solo-Gaming Cool thanks man that's helpful info! Right after I responded to you I went and added it to my cart on GameNerdz lol, $48 so not bad. I usually sleeve games when they have cards that get handled A LOT and that I like, so with this being strictly a card game I will definitely sleeve it if it works out. And that's cool you play it over Zoom, I've always wanted to play some games with my friends over Zoom, but we just play DnD instead. I was hoping you'd say that about solo and 2 player as that's how I would play it mostly. You'll definitely be my go to for the game, excited to check it out.

That thing is so sick man. How much do you think it weighs while fully loaded? I have the better homes and gardens shelves too. No IKEA near me. I like the shelves a lot
Definitely sick, I'm not sure but you have me curious. Going to weigh it when I get a chance because now I want to know. I'll report back lol. I like the shelves a lot, sturdy and not much wobble at all when loaded with the games. They look really nice as well, got mine from walmart for cheap too. We definitely have the better shelves haha
~16-18Kg so yes it's manageable if you need to move it.
I'm jealous! ;-)
Haha this thing is amazing!
Hi, i really like your video. Can I ask you to link the health chips you are using so I could get the same? I really like the idea of colored chips for health.
Hey thanks a lot Ivan! And sure thing, I got them off Amazon, they really help out.
