What a magnificent, heart-wrenching performance! The whole story of this opera is a sad illustration of the wretched guilt trip that traditional Christianity lays on women who (gasp!) have sex outside marriage and are merely trying to find happiness.
I don't agree. I personal think it's pleading for a Christian principle: don't judge, so you won't be judged. But I agree that women on those times were judged very hursh. That's The splendor of Romantism in literatura and music. It revolutes The way we think. And I angree with you that Angela îs wonderful
