This is a complex question. Individual worker bees are generally not aggressive. If they sting, they die..so as you can imagine, that’s usually a last resort. How aggressive they are can depend on what breed they are, and also environmental conditions, what time of day, the weather and hive health play into it, as well as how the beekeeper behaves. For the most part as long as the hive is healthy and we don’t bother them in bad weather, or keep hives open for too long, we almost never get stung. The few times we have been stung, it was because we did something wrong. We were afraid of them at first also, but the more we learned, the more comfortable we got.
