About me - I'm Claire and I'm in my early 40s, I live in the UK. My taste in perfumes is usually quite sweet but not too sweet, I love white florals but not tuberose. I like gourmands as long as they smell like perfumes still, I require my perfumes to change a little bit as I wear them ie not linear. I don't enjoy oud, leather, cumin, saffron or strong patchouli however there can be occasions where I do like perfumes with these notes if they are not too dominant. I enjoy most florals as long as they are backed up with something sweet or perhaps resins / incence. I tend to not enjoy anything very soapy. I also don't really enjoy very green fragrances. I am extremely averse to overdoses of ambroxan and iso E super (timbersilk or similar) just because I find it annoying! I have no problem with synthetics in perfumery but I do enjoy perfumes that at have some notes that at least smell like they could be from nature. My favourite type of perfumery in indie and I love Francesca Bianchi, Teone Reinthal, 4160 Tuesdays, Zoologist and Papillon Artisan Perfumes.

I love No. 22. It does last way long on me so longevity is impressive. I am eye-ing a 200ml on discounters...hoping it will last for 20 years more without going bad. About the incense note, I think the more I smell it...I do get the lemony imagery of frankincense especially from a moderate distance. Not sure if I am psyching myself to believe there's an incense note in there.
I’m wearing it now. The longevity is great on me too, not beastly in projection but just perfect for me. I love the way it gently sweetens up over time on skin.
Oh dear Claire, you have well and truly fallen down the rabbit hole. I love vintage perfumes and am constantly on the hunt for my favourites. I am currently on the hunt for a bottle of the original Yvresse/Champagne by YSL and am not having much luck. The ones available are eye wateringly expensive. I am also searching for a bottle of the original Stella McCartney EDP but again the ones available are so expensive. I think vintage perfumes are becoming popular 😊
Yes it looks like it! I’m curious about Champagne have seen a bottle on EBay with reasonable starting bid….I adore the original Stella and Stella Rose Absolute, it disappeared then came back years later and definitely wasn’t the same but I’m clueless how to determine the original formula.
@@Smurfygurly The original Stella McCartney is one of my favourite perfumes, but like the original Yvresse, so expensive now. The original formulation has silver around the neck and the newer one has gold 😊
Gosh do not go into that vintage rabbit hole. I started getting into vintage scents at the beginning of the year (I blame Ramsey and Rich Mich). And now I go at least twice a month to flea markets in Paris in search of vintage gems. Apart from the vintage Guerlain, my favourite vintage has to be Must de Cartier in extrait
I think it’s too late! I’m heading to France next month hoping to go hunting for vintages.

Hi Claire missed you live. Again. I was on the phone to the family. That's a great price for a 200ml new - cheaper than a new 75ml by £40!! I went on a Chanel 'masterclass' a couple of weeks ago and got to smell some of Chanel's raw materials - tuberose, patchouli, ylang-ylang and benzoin. I am told the parfum of no.22 is amazing but your chances of getting one will rapidly disappear as the 15mls have all been discontinued. The Lizzie Ostrom is a great read and has just come out as a Penguin paperback. Also a good read is The Secret of Chanel No.5 by. Tilar J Mazzeo. She goes into all the old Chanels. Then there's The Scent of Empires: Chanel No.5 and Red Moscow by Karl Schlögel which goes into Ernest Beaux's Russian background and the Soviet perfume Red Moscow. I also just got Michael Edwards Perfume Legends II which has a chapter on Joy (not got that far yet - it's a huge book you need to read at a table). Oh and I got Comète 😊
