      Then, what is the fun of action movies? If you end up making them realistic and grounded in reality? I mean, let us be real. 99.9% of the time. If you want to get rid of the main character or even the main villain. You just shoot them on first sight. End of story. Do not take chances. You see someone going to stop you or try to do evil. BANG! We are done. Problem solved. And a few more bangs to make sure. Also, maybe an explosion or two.

      @@sday2137 A catapult is just the mechanical way to throw something.
      If you would try to launch that weight via a ballista, that wouldn't work well.
      A cannon is already a very different concept to a bow.
      The biggest problem is the length of the bow and the the energy comes from the string. For this to work out, the isn't allowed to much difference in weight over it's length.

    I love this line of thinking so much because 1, it supports my opinion that sometimes doing stuff the stupid way is just more fun, and (more importantly) 2, it lets you know that you don't have to be perfect and that sometimes it's better to half-ass stuff than to not do it at all. Seriously, you gonna skip brushing your teeth in the morning just because you're running late and you can only devote thirty seconds to it instead of a full two minutes?

    This is making me want to try archery again, last/first time I did the people at the range were super unhelpful and snooty. I have tiny little baby arms so I'll probably have to start with a child's bow though lmao.

    I have a wooden toy bow and arrow in my closet from when I was younger, I've recently began to modify it to actually be more functional, using actual hand carved arrows. Its fun to hit small targets I've set up in the backyard.

    I had my dad make me a grapling hook when i was 11. It was madeout of rebar, connected to 100ft of 3/8ths paracord. It never failed.

    Completely surprised it works, I would have expected the complete top heavy design to mess up everything. Apparently I was very wrong but I'm also pretty happy I was, this is so much cooler than the boring alternative!

    My grandfather put a rope swing in a tree
    It was about 130' from the ground
    He used a bow to shoot an arrow with fishing line over the limb and then used the fishing line to pull up twine
    And then finally a line of rope pulled up with the twine
    Super cool swing he built it on a hill so at the highest point you'd be like 30-40' in the air
    Super dangerous but fun as hell

    Idk if they are actually any better, but i like the depictions of grappling arrows with folded hooks that spring out after piercing something, i imagine those hooks wouldn’t be very strong though, since they’d be on a hinge of some kind, not to mention they’d only work if the arrow head can fully pierce the target, but still, they look cool

    Just FYI, for anyone that needs to hear and/or just needs a hug..... That "If its something worth doing, its worth doing badly" line has helped me A LOT with self care during my depressive episodes. And it eventually turned into "if its worth doing badly and half-assing, then its probably worth putting more effort into, as well" and THAT has helped me to push myself when i genuinely just wanna use a toaster as a bath bomb 😅🤷🏽‍♀ ALLLLL the air hugs and forehead smoochies 😁👌🏽🤘🏽

    At the end of the Battle of the Bastards in Game of Thrones, Ramsay Bolton fired 3 arrows at a slowly advancing Jon Snow who blocked each arrow with a shield.
    I'd love to see this tested to see if those arrows would have actually been stopped by the shield at such a close range. I think you are the man to test it.
