This is my testimony. Joseph spoke about the three levels of testimony. The first level of testimony is knowing that Jesus is the Christ, the son of the living God revealed by the Father. This happened to me when I was 5 years old. The first time I remember going to Sunday School, the teacher asked me if I knew who Jesus was. I did not recognize the name so I said "No." She went on to say that he is the son of God the creator of the world. In that moment, I remembered being with them before I was born and I said to the teacher, "Oh yeah, I know who you are talkin' about." I know that Jesus is the Christ, the son of the living God. The second level of testimony is knowing that Jesus is your personal savior. It is the sure word of prophecy. This happened to me when I was 24 years old in 1973. I was in the Navy, at the time. I was serving aboard the ship Oriskany and we were scheduled for deployment to WESTPAC. I had only been married for a year and I had a six week old daughter. I did not want to leave them, so my wife and I prayed that the Lord would do something so I would not have to go. He did not do anything, and I was heartbroken. I went to a place on ship where I could be alone and cried and prayed, "Lord, why are you doing this to me? Why didn't you answer our prayers?" After a while the Lord told me that if I wanted an answer, I would have to listen. I cleared my mind of all other thoughts and listened and the Lord said, "You need to repent," Then he reminded me of my sins. My sorrow changed from being sorry for the situation I was in to feeling sorry for the sins I had committed and I repented. I asked forgiveness and the very moment I said, "Amen," I felt the guilt lifted from me and I felt free for the first time in a long time. I felt peace and joy greater than I had ever felt before but the greatest of all was the Love that enveloped me. It was a love that is indescribable. This happened to me in 1983. After ten years of testing in all the covenants of the endowment, which, by the way were very difficult and tried my faith greatly, the Lord called me to the temple fasting. I was serving a temple mission at the time. I was thinking the Lord wanted to talk to me about a different mission. When I got to the Celestial room and after everybody had left except me, Jesus came to me and I asked him what he wanted me to do. He said to me, "I have not called you here today to give you something more to do. I called you here to give you a gift. I promise you the Celestial kingdom." I felt something change inside of me and knew it was true what he said. I did not fully understood what that meant at the time, so I asked what it meant. He told he had made my calling and election sure and that my priesthoods were sealed on me and as long as I did not commit the unpardonable sin, no matter what should happen to me in life or death, I would be in his kingdom when I cross over. I know Jesus. I have been in his presence and seen his face, heard his voice and felt his touch. He lives. I know Jesus today, better than I knew him then. He is the same, yesterday, today and forever, my constant friend. Amen
I joined the church in Southern California at the age of 20, in 1975. I soon decided to go on a mission. While sleeping one night, not long after, I had a dream that I was tending our backyard garden, and Marion G Romney suddenly appeared next to me. I immediately felt a very loving presence emanating from him. He then telepathically told how wonderful it was to Heavenly Father that I decided to serve a mission. I will never forget it. (BTW-Years later, I read that Dallin Oaks commented that Marion G Romney was the most spiritual person he ever met.)

This address was given six years before I was baptized. I grew to revere Pres Romney's kindness and wisdom. Has anyone else noticed that language across the pulpit has become more inclusive of females in the past 60 years? One might have thought LDS were entirely male.
Sanctification is just the beginning of greater miracles Jesus has done for me. In 2004, the Lord called me to full time ministry, He had me begin the ministry by fasting for 40 days. By the power of God, I survived not eating anything and he kept me sane and healthy for the full 40 days. Then in 2018, while I was riding my bicycle on the left hand sidewalk, I was coming up on an intersection when the light turned green. I was planning on riding through the intersection without stopping. As I got closer to the intersection, I noticed a Mack dump truck approaching from the left. He was slowing down to stop at the Red. Not sensing any danger, I road into the Cross walk. I was a body length into the cross walk when the driver turned his wheels to the right and sped up. I was suddenly confronted but his huge front wheel. My instinct told me to get rid of the Bicycle, so I lifted it up front of me to throw it to the right and jump to the left, but as soon as the bike was in front of me the truck hit the bike and carried it away in State Avenue. The rear wheel of the bike was still between my legs and the rear axil captured my leg, just above the knee in the back of my leg and twisted and pulled my leg, which broke my femur and stretched my leg so that the skin on my calve was sloughed and it caused a rip on the top of my left foot about 4 inches long. There was a puncture wound on the back of my leg where the axil punched through my pant leg. The pant leg twisted and caused friction burns on the my left thigh. The miracle in this is that I felt the weight of the truck rolling over me, but the wheels did not touch my body and I was not road kill. Not only that, I was taken to the hospital to have surgery to inset a rod into the bone to set the femur and to stitch up my foot. For all those injuries and the surgery, there was no pain. They kept asking me if I wanted something for the pain, but there was no pain. Let me tell, our God is great and mighty to save. No only has he saved me from my sins, but he has saved my life in many miraculous ways.

Calling and election sure is a concept, a theory, not doctrine, and it's a dangerous one, along the lines of the JW's "chosen 144,000", Evangelicals' "rapture chosen", or Islam's promised ones. The church doesn't actively teach this theory nor should we. Just love, serve, forgive, and don't judge one another, and live as Jesus did and does.
Peter taught it, others have experienced it, why not teach it? or do you question if it is true? Nothing wrong with love, service and forgiveness, but truth is truth and needs to be spoken!

These are indeed illustrative of Christ's character, and we cannot be received into God's presence without acquiring the full character of Christ, which includes more than just these. Elder Romney, who later served in the First Presidency, explained this concept in general conference and demonstrated that it was experienced by ancient prophets such as Isaiah and Enos and Alma and that it was taught by Peter and Joseph Smith: This suggests that it is indeed a doctrine of Christ. Jews, JWs, evangelicals, Muslims, Catholics, etc. have corrupted many doctrines, so should we stop teaching every doctrine that some other religion has taught a corrupt version of? This would leave little to teach and learn. Joseph Smith yearned to teach deeper doctrines but was prevented from doing so because the Latter-day Saints were not ready. Yes, you are right that we need to follow the basic teachings of Christ, but you are wrong to suggest that there isn't much more, for those who are ready, to learn and live for. Some can digest only milk while others are ready to feast on meatier matters. God knows what each of us is ready to receive.

Including this from the guide to the scriptures: "Righteous followers of Christ can become numbered among the elect who gain the assurance of exaltation. This calling and election begins with repentance and baptism. It becomes complete when they “press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end” (2 Ne. 31:19-20). To achieve this requires study, effort and application. Such is not required by other religious denominations. Theirs are corrupt doctrines concieved and taught by men usurping Gods authority.
