"The Wilderness Hunter" - Betrayed hunter's Jedi quest for vengeance

The Revenant (2015) is an adventure-drama film directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu, inspired by Michael Punke's novel of the same name and based on true events.
The story is set in the American West in the 1820s. The protagonist, Hugh Glass (played by Leonardo DiCaprio), is a fur hunter who is seriously injured when a bear attacks him on one of his expeditions. Glass's companion, John Fitzgerald (played by Tom Hardy), betrays him, killing Glass's son and abandoning him in the wilderness to fend for himself.
However, Glass overcomes the harsh natural environment and the limits of his mind and body with his tenacity and survival instincts. Dragging his battered and bruised body through thick and thin, he eventually finds Fitzgerald, who betrayed him, and begins a battle for revenge.
Through the magnificent natural landscape and intense drama, The Wilderness Hunter demonstrates the human's will to survive and the strong emotion of vengeance in the extreme predicament. The movie not only won several awards, but also earned Leonardo DiCaprio his first Academy Award for Best Actor.
