I live a mile away from the airfield today (13 May 2023) the RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Avro Lancaster did 3 passes overhead. Awesome

Hi Henry. I know White Waltham quite well having flown in and out a few times. The aeroplane behind you at the very start of the video is a lovely de Havilland Chipmunk, and I had a share in one for almost 35 years. As you began to walk, the green one was a Nanchang, a Chinese relative of the Russian Yak52 I also had a share in for about 3 years. The Yak (and the Nanchang) are very capable aerobatic aircraft. The Chipmunk does lovely graceful aeros as well, but not as hard and vilolently as the Yak!
The two biplanes were de Haviland Tiger Moths. The camouflaged one is G-AXXV, but carries its RAF serial number DE-992 instead of its civil registration.
The yellow aircraft just peeking out of the hangar is also a type I flew extensively, the delightful (but non-aerobatic) Piper Cub. The one I flew was G-BHXY but was in US Army colours that it carried in WW2, with the military serial 44-79609.
I love railways as you know, but flying is the best thing I ever did - nearly 35 years of the best fun you can possibly have. It’s a passion - something I knew I had to do from as young as I can remember. I treasure those years of fun, and quite a few adventures, seeing things no-one normally gets to see and experiencing some out of this world stuff!
