UGO I GO
Each time I visit London I always go Saturday to Brixton Market. The restaurants and coffee shops as well as the Market shopping is amazing. Restaurants and coffee shops of Jamaican, Mexican, Colombian, African and Asian origin. The market is open daily but as stated Saturday is the real big day to explore. Way safer now than years ago when it was a place to go at your own risk. Thanks for sharing, I subscribed and liked. James J Walsh in Limerick city Ireland 🇮🇪
The Cherry Groce memorial is after Cherry Groce was paralysed from the waist down after being shot by police in a raid at her home in 1985. Cherry Groce died in April 2011, having spent 26 years in a wheelchair. The police were looking for her son Michael, who they said was wanted in connection with an armed robbery shooting. Two days of rioting in Brixton followed as the community protested institutional racism and systemic injustice faced by black people.
Her son Michael was never charged for the alleged robbery.
The statue was unveiled at Windrush Square 35 and a half years after her shooting.
I enjoyed this! Never been to Britain, but I remember many years ago there used to be a play from Brixton that was broadcast on the radio in Jamaica, in the 1960s and 1970s. You would hear more patois than you would hear in Jamaica! 😂
I guess after 70s things changed, because back in the 50s 60s the Irish and West Indians were 90% Pub customers 🤔
Ugo igo, or Skipper i enjoyed your video
It was like watching the history channel
You offered so much knowledge about the people that migrated to Brixton London and how much has improved!
Thanks to you and your friend Alex!
