Like how guru could touch you to sense it and awaken your potential his ki sensing was so strong he could tell off rip out of all the pure blooded saiyans in the room the one with the potential closest to unlock a super saiyan form was goku. Broly has Ptsd from his Ki.

Also, we get to see a short scene in the observatory where he kills a loyal collaborator, only to cover his steps. This scene further demonstrates how much of a scumbag Paragus has become after he managed to install the control device on his son. It's odd, because Paragus projects the image of a valliant man when he attempted to protect a city from the wrath of a teenage Broly. The OAV has a shovel load of plot holes and exposition shotrtcomings.

When he saw the power his son possessed, and realized he held the device to control his power, Paragus must’ve been taken over by desires to rule the universe, using his son as a weapon of destruction. When you view your child as nothing but a weapon, yeah, I would suspect you begin to become a scumbag after a while. Broly must’ve seen through that too. This is just me thinking it over.

This scene pretty much is what Toriyama envisioned Sayians to be, bloodthirsty, battle hungry, savages. A race that was more harm to the universe than any other. Frieza, while being no better himself, was completely right about the Sayians. Broly exemplifies what a TRUE sayian really is, hell even Goku would've turned out that way if he hadn't bumped his head.

But this only showed how Broly no longer accepts the fact that Paragus is his own father. The way how he asks Paragus on where he's going hints how Broly sees Paragus as an obstacle that would keep interfering with his power. At that point, Broly no longer thinks Paragus is his own father but rather a waste of Saiyan blood to dispose of.

Very true. As explained by Paragus, Broly had all the attributes that would make a Saiyan father proud, but at the end of the day, This Broly was beyond even Saiyan malice. He was a psychopath. He didn’t just thrive off of combat, he relished taking the life of innocence in the most agonising ways. He was truly a demon. Not even Vegeta or Nappa back in DBZ were as evil as him.

Broly is a monster!! Crushing that space pod and hurling it into outer space is a pretty impressive feat. Consider how durable that ship must be to withstand crashing into planets at thousands of miles per hour upon landing. Not only that, it must weigh a few tons. In addition, it would take a lot of force to crush a fully grown Saiyan's body like that, seeing as how Saiyans bone structures and muscles can withstand super high gravity.
Dude crushing a space pod is nothing to basically anyone in this series, everyone can already obliterate planets without any effort lol

It was. I think that was the part that defined how horrifying Brolly trully was. And the music adds to that.
He didn't kill him out of anger, despair or a sense of betrayal. He killed him just because he enjoys it. That glee he has before and after crushing Paragus really shows that Brolly never had any love whatsoever for his father.

Which only makes his later psychopathy all the more tragic and terrifying. His ever growing power _molded_ the person he is now. Even before Paragus decided to use a mind controlling device, Broly seemed to stop caring about his own father.

Broly strikes me as something of a split-personality. When Paragus tried to put the crown on him, Broly didn’t attack until after he determined his own father was a threat to him. Before that, he calmly asked what he was doing.
Here, he’s taking his vengeance after years of being a slave to someone he thought he could trust. And he found the taste sweet

Hell, he even blinded one of Paragus' eye when all the man was doing was trying to hold him back and tell him to stop. And he wasn't shocked at what he had done, Broly just kept laughing hysterically and enjoying all the destruction.
So no, I disagree. This version of Broly was clearly made out to be a psychopatic monster groomed by his own power.
Just as much as he power kept growing without limit, so did its affect on Broly's mind, turning him from what probably would've been a normal Saiyan, into a monster that just enjoys carnage for the sake of it.
In the end, it even erased whatever love he might have had as a child for his father.
