He takes it as she's jealous and wants to stop him from being with the Fire princess when she's trying to tell him the fire princess is being detrimental to his work for her. Rewatching the show and seeing PB play with Finn’s heart like that hurt to watch, especially after going through the same exact thing during my own life. Wish I had a friend like Jake during those times, man.

It’s happening to me right now. She keeps pushing me and pulling me away. I’ve been crying so much for her and all she does is get annoyed by it. Everyone is telling me to leave her but I love her too much. I know it’s stupid but that’s just how weak I am.

@@theghostietm665 it takes 2 to make love and without that 2nd part it won't be complete if she can't return those feelings then unless she is wiling to work things out with you the only choice is to move on. But don't cry from it being over build yourself from it. Work on yourself until you know your ready then you won't be calling yourself weak as you know you have grown pass that. Things like this take time but the one thing you can do with that time is never give up. Find what motivates you and someday you will cross paths with another girl. I'm also no expert on this so take it with a grain of salt
Wildest part is she was talking about MARCELINE. How she chose responsibility over HER. I think in her own weird way, she was trying to give Finn advice to do the same- to look at the Big picture and choose to do the responsible thing over love.
The Marceline thing… yeah that’s what this interaction meant by the end of the series, although I’m not sure if that was the meaning at the time of the scenes and episodes being written. Although even if it was the intended meaning, that doesn’t change the fact that even if she was giving advice, Finn took it as well.. PB loving him. Who wouldn’t be at least slightly upset when someone admits to you they love you when you have finally gotten over them? Finn just had it all bottled up, and he exploded. He did love her, and to him, it seemed like not only did she want to sabotage his relationship, but that she was into him post-love. Technically I believe there was some underlying meaning about toxic relationships with flame princess but that’s a whole other sub-topic. I will say, that it’s really interesting they were able to kind of express two different points of views though (in adventure time).
I mean, haven't both Marceline and PB flirted with Finn? I always saw both of them as Bi, because of that. Anyway, At the end of this episode PB shows jealousy of Finn, I'm pretty sure she didn't just mean about Marceline there...

A lot of childrens shows also cater to older audiences making for a fantastic watch.For example,adventure time,gumball,gravity falls,infinity train,and original ben 10 because of how good it is.
I never realized how hard that had to be for Finn until now and I never knew hoe much Jake would protect him and stick up for him. Jake's a real brother even if he isn't blood
I remember a time where I was in love with him. He was my first crush, started at 6 years old, and lasted all the way to 16 years old. Oh how long I have waited for him to love me back, how much I hoped for him to see me the way I saw him. At first, I was so in love that I didn't care he sometimes made fun of me, I didn't care he could be mean. When we became friends, we had so many good and fun times, and so long I have hoped that that friendship could become love from his side, too. How many nights have I cried because he did not love me back, how many times my heart has ached wondering why he didn't love me and what was wrong with me. And he never loved me back. Nearly ten years, in which I have changed and he has too. At some point, I just realized he was never going to be interested in me. It took me a long time to realize that, and it took me even longer to realize that in the end, it was toxic to me. When I realized that, I tried to heal and fall out of love with him. It took me a long time. At that time we were going to the same high school, and seeing him every day on the bus became more and more difficult to me. I slowly distanced myself from him, and he did not look for me. At the end of high school, this year, I was finally able to cut bridges with him. I hurt so much while i was with him, and I am so glad I won't have to see him if I don't want to. Now I'm feeling much better, and I'm slowly opening up to love again. The boy I'm slowly becoming interested in is really sweet and loving, kind and we have a lot of the same interests. I really like him, and we have been friends for a few years now. Unfortunately he lives in another country than mine, I really wanted to see him again this summer but Covid got in the way. He is so sweet and I really like him, and I hope we will meet after Covid gets out of the way. Maybe we'll become more than friends, who knows.
I’m happy you were able to take that step forward, most people have a lot of trouble doing so, you’re really strong for that. I hope after all this stuff that’s been happening this year is over, everything goes well and you get to see your friend. : ^ )

The whole scene was PB trying to get Finn away from flame princess before they kissed, so she didn't burn a hole in the planet earth from emotion, but it's interesting to see how Finn perceived the situation before anyone had the context
This is actually sad, the fact that pb used finn to feel how being 13 years old feels and just try to be with a dude that likes her, it is even worse when she said , that was 5 years ago silly. in all honesty when pb was a kid she probably felt something for finn, you can see that she didn't feel obliged to her usual level of responsibility when managing her kingdom. But when she is an adult, she prioritizes her responsibility of protecting her kingdom over anything else and that included her own personal feelings of love. its like what she said before to marceline, how she pushed her away in order to continue to manage the kingdom and the safety of all of ooo. there were times where you can see she was willing to make any sacrifices to maintain that peace and security to (like locking flame princess up) despite the fact that it may be considered morally wrong to do for some people. pb's character was one that was always obssessed and driven and devoted to caring for her kingdom, her first and foremost priority that came before everything else, which made her incapable of being in a relationship with anyone. i feel bad for finn, even though he loved her, he probably wouldn't have had that much of a chance with pb. of course after her character development she become much more open to love and being dedicated to something else other than her kingdom (like working on self discovery and love). and she starting looking for ways to make sure that everyone is happy, without a good hearted person ending up having to pay an expense. loosing her kingdom was probably one of the best things that ever happened to her as it allowed her to finally take a step back and re-evaluate what she values in life, something that she truly wants (that most likely could not happen since she was too busy with her responsibilities). in the stakes episode you can see that she starts to realise that she might possibly value marceline a lot (cough* like in a romantic way), obviously distressed over the fact that she might die, she gets flustered over the fact that marceline thinks she is nice, and likes the idea of the marceline seeing them both as important people to each other in the future. in another episode she opens up about being tired and thinking that she has been for a long time, and for the first time in probably hundreds of years she rests (evident in the porch scene of the marceline and bubblegum episode). its rather significant because she opened up about something that she has probably failed to admit to herself and she finally relied on someone else to take care of her "kingdom" (the pumpkin patch) for her. (these all bear a more symbolic meaning rather than a literal one). anways soz for the rant but yeah happy that my two bi queens get together, and that finn was able to move on and go on more adventures with jake, even in the next life. ( ˘︹˘ )
@Stiu a character being a bitch and someone trying to explain said character's behavior are not mutually exclusive. The character stays wrong, whether they have an alibi/moral reasoning or not. All this reasoning does is explaining the motivation for said actions, which is exactly what the person was going for here. One can still acknowledge that the character was acting shitty, while knowing WHY they were like that. I also have no idea why you thought was it necessary to bring gender to the discussion, because an explanation of character's actions is a pretty basic thing and can be done to anyone by anyone.

I watched this show over countless times as a child. It was just so alluring and enjoyable to me. Now, all those years later, I understand how sad the show actually was, and hate how it ended.
Oh you mean with Finn being single, but temporarily happy with Jake until he has no one else and desperately clings on to the hope that he'll see Jake again since he doesn't have anyone as close as him to console him after he's gone. Meanwhile his cruel crush and her girlfriend are living it up eternally with no candy kingdom responsibilities to worry about. *"I see this as a good and loveable conclusion"* .

PB was older than Finn and had to endure more responsibilities than him because she's in charge of a whole Kingdom (also why she didn't want Finn's and Flame Princess' relationship to grow bc it would've destroyed Ooo) , plus she was never really in love with Finn and especially in this episode she was trying to teach him responsibility and save him from a dangerous relationship, later in the series Finn realizes that and gets over her, because he also grows up; and she has a whole character development arc when she lets go of her strict personality and finds love with Marceline, a woman her age she has a much stronger bond with.
You know, this show was actually really brilliant at times. I remember during the beginning of the series when Finn described his feelings for Bubblegum as “like like liking” her. It was meant to show how Finn, and the show as a whole really, was still pretty immature. So when this scene comes up, and Finn just straight-up admits that he was in love with her, it’s extra impactful when you consider the tone the show usually takes with these kinds of topics. It lets you know that these cartoon characters are gonna have actual feelings, and was pretty smart writing for a kids show.

I know getting rejected is harsh and the sadness can be overbearing, to the point where you try to pretend as nothing is wrong,but that’s not all to it. Sure it may hurt, but it was better off to be rejected and to know how that other person felt so that it could be easier for you to move on and find happiness elsewhere. It’s not the end. Adventure time on the surface is a boy and his doggo brother fighting baddies, it is amazingly deep and filled with emotion and beautiful story and character development, i truly believe that this, is the greatest cartoon ever made.

I’ve never watched Adventure Time. Not even an episode, let alone 3 minutes of a clip of this show. But this hits hard. I think I’m gonna try to watch this show soon.
Real shit, adventure time taught me alot. Like way more than I can admit to. Dealing with rejection, liking someone who couldn't be more blind to it if they tried. And how life doesn't stop, even if it gets flipped upside down. This show was important in was many people don't get. To some, hell maybe most its just a kid show. But to me, it will always and forever be a show to teach you its ok to not be ok sometimes.

nobody here in these comments actually watched the show lmao. this episode was brilliant but y’all are missing the point. pb explains, three times in the episode, that the reason why she thinks finn and fp can’t be together is because of fp’s emotion based fire powers, which skyrocket dangerously during romance (like we see in the episode). the brilliance of this is that Jake and Finn, two pretty immature dudes, don’t listen to this, and instead project an idea of an imagined jealousness on pb’s part. PB isn’t jealous and wasn’t playing Finn, but they don’t see that because they are stuck in their immature ways. Jake doesn’t grow, and Finn hasn’t grown yet. This growth is really seen well in the slumber party episode we see later where Finn and PB just hang out and have fun, Finn knowing that PB isn’t and never was interested romantically, and that they are just friends. great writing ruined by people eager to project onto a protagonist despite his shortcomings
PhantasmPhantom actually at this point he’s 14. might be 15. it’s why I said “hasn’t grown yet” because adventure time does a phenomenal job documenting and displaying Finns growth into an adult, this is just from an early episode when he was still a kid

There are those shows like this one which can be written off as silly or just for kids but they hit notes and emotional levels that others just cant. This one among others which I grew up with do that and always will. They can make people feel better, help them cope, and they just in general make you feel maybe nostalgic to a point especially now. These shows which will always hold a special place in my heart were how I got through the day they were one of the only things I looked forward too when getting home. I thank the creators and the wonderful community that existed around these for this life long gift.

Most likely they just don't care about gender since people in this world have all different types of bodies so differences from gender are minuscule in comparison.
The episode was actually bit relateable for me. I was bullied when I was 16. I was suicidal and depressed at the time I was bullied. My best friend/crush helped me and supported me, also we had a good time together. She was the type of person who made sure that everything will be okay while she was around. I was deeply in love with her. One day, I was so scared to tell my feelings for her that I kissed her. After I kissed her, she ghosted me for years. Everytime I tried to talk to her, she ignored me and blocked me on social media for years. I was so confused and didn't know what happened. Some years later she added me back on social media and admitted that she was actually in love with me. She was in love with me even before I kissed her. I was very sad that I never knew that she loved me back. I never wanted to talk to her again since she made my life difficult. I went from being social to being shy all around people. I became scared to hang out with people and friends. When I saw the episode, it gave me flashbacks and made me depressed. I'm still feeling like a horrible person that I kissed her.
As someone who's spent his entire life pining over girls and the relationships with them he can never have, and making a fool of himself in the process, I really, really felt this in my core. This is really well done.

I remember a time where I was in love with him.
He was my first crush, started at 6 years old, and lasted all the way to 16 years old.
Oh how long I have waited for him to love me back, how much I hoped for him to see me the way I saw him.
At first, I was so in love that I didn't care he sometimes made fun of me, I didn't care he could be mean.
When we became friends, we had so many good and fun times, and so long I have hoped that that friendship could become love from his side, too.
How many nights have I cried because he did not love me back, how many times my heart has ached wondering why he didn't love me and what was wrong with me.
And he never loved me back. Nearly ten years, in which I have changed and he has too.
At some point, I just realized he was never going to be interested in me. It took me a long time to realize that, and it took me even longer to realize that in the end, it was toxic to me.
When I realized that, I tried to heal and fall out of love with him.
It took me a long time. At that time we were going to the same high school, and seeing him every day on the bus became more and more difficult to me. I slowly distanced myself from him, and he did not look for me.
At the end of high school, this year, I was finally able to cut bridges with him.
I hurt so much while i was with him, and I am so glad I won't have to see him if I don't want to.
Now I'm feeling much better, and I'm slowly opening up to love again.
The boy I'm slowly becoming interested in is really sweet and loving, kind and we have a lot of the same interests.
I really like him, and we have been friends for a few years now.
Unfortunately he lives in another country than mine, I really wanted to see him again this summer but Covid got in the way.
He is so sweet and I really like him, and I hope we will meet after Covid gets out of the way.
Maybe we'll become more than friends, who knows.

in all honesty when pb was a kid she probably felt something for finn, you can see that she didn't feel obliged to her usual level of responsibility when managing her kingdom. But when she is an adult, she prioritizes her responsibility of protecting her kingdom over anything else and that included her own personal feelings of love. its like what she said before to marceline, how she pushed her away in order to continue to manage the kingdom and the safety of all of ooo. there were times where you can see she was willing to make any sacrifices to maintain that peace and security to (like locking flame princess up) despite the fact that it may be considered morally wrong to do for some people. pb's character was one that was always obssessed and driven and devoted to caring for her kingdom, her first and foremost priority that came before everything else, which made her incapable of being in a relationship with anyone. i feel bad for finn, even though he loved her, he probably wouldn't have had that much of a chance with pb.
of course after her character development she become much more open to love and being dedicated to something else other than her kingdom (like working on self discovery and love). and she starting looking for ways to make sure that everyone is happy, without a good hearted person ending up having to pay an expense. loosing her kingdom was probably one of the best things that ever happened to her as it allowed her to finally take a step back and re-evaluate what she values in life, something that she truly wants (that most likely could not happen since she was too busy with her responsibilities). in the stakes episode you can see that she starts to realise that she might possibly value marceline a lot (cough* like in a romantic way), obviously distressed over the fact that she might die, she gets flustered over the fact that marceline thinks she is nice, and likes the idea of the marceline seeing them both as important people to each other in the future. in another episode she opens up about being tired and thinking that she has been for a long time, and for the first time in probably hundreds of years she rests (evident in the porch scene of the marceline and bubblegum episode). its rather significant because she opened up about something that she has probably failed to admit to herself and she finally relied on someone else to take care of her "kingdom" (the pumpkin patch) for her. (these all bear a more symbolic meaning rather than a literal one).
anways soz for the rant but yeah happy that my two bi queens get together, and that finn was able to move on and go on more adventures with jake, even in the next life. ( ˘︹˘ )

@Stiu a character being a bitch and someone trying to explain said character's behavior are not mutually exclusive. The character stays wrong, whether they have an alibi/moral reasoning or not. All this reasoning does is explaining the motivation for said actions, which is exactly what the person was going for here. One can still acknowledge that the character was acting shitty, while knowing WHY they were like that.
I also have no idea why you thought was it necessary to bring gender to the discussion, because an explanation of character's actions is a pretty basic thing and can be done to anyone by anyone.

I watched this show over countless times as a child. It was just so alluring and enjoyable to me.
Now, all those years later, I understand how sad the show actually was, and hate how it ended.

You know, this show was actually really brilliant at times.
I remember during the beginning of the series when Finn described his feelings for Bubblegum as “like like liking” her. It was meant to show how Finn, and the show as a whole really, was still pretty immature.
So when this scene comes up, and Finn just straight-up admits that he was in love with her, it’s extra impactful when you consider the tone the show usually takes with these kinds of topics. It lets you know that these cartoon characters are gonna have actual feelings, and was pretty smart writing for a kids show.

nobody here in these comments actually watched the show lmao. this episode was brilliant but y’all are missing the point. pb explains, three times in the episode, that the reason why she thinks finn and fp can’t be together is because of fp’s emotion based fire powers, which skyrocket dangerously during romance (like we see in the episode). the brilliance of this is that Jake and Finn, two pretty immature dudes, don’t listen to this, and instead project an idea of an imagined jealousness on pb’s part. PB isn’t jealous and wasn’t playing Finn, but they don’t see that because they are stuck in their immature ways. Jake doesn’t grow, and Finn hasn’t grown yet. This growth is really seen well in the slumber party episode we see later where Finn and PB just hang out and have fun, Finn knowing that PB isn’t and never was interested romantically, and that they are just friends. great writing ruined by people eager to project onto a protagonist despite his shortcomings

There are those shows like this one which can be written off as silly or just for kids but they hit notes and emotional levels that others just cant. This one among others which I grew up with do that and always will. They can make people feel better, help them cope, and they just in general make you feel maybe nostalgic to a point especially now. These shows which will always hold a special place in my heart were how I got through the day they were one of the only things I looked forward too when getting home. I thank the creators and the wonderful community that existed around these for this life long gift.

The episode was actually bit relateable for me. I was bullied when I was 16. I was suicidal and depressed at the time I was bullied. My best friend/crush helped me and supported me, also we had a good time together. She was the type of person who made sure that everything will be okay while she was around. I was deeply in love with her. One day, I was so scared to tell my feelings for her that I kissed her. After I kissed her, she ghosted me for years. Everytime I tried to talk to her, she ignored me and blocked me on social media for years. I was so confused and didn't know what happened. Some years later she added me back on social media and admitted that she was actually in love with me. She was in love with me even before I kissed her. I was very sad that I never knew that she loved me back. I never wanted to talk to her again since she made my life difficult. I went from being social to being shy all around people. I became scared to hang out with people and friends. When I saw the episode, it gave me flashbacks and made me depressed. I'm still feeling like a horrible person that I kissed her.
