As someone who has a ‘78 280z, and sometimes daily it to work, definitely do a mild resto on this one. These S30’s still has strong aftermarket support online. I’m able to source parts from other Nissan cars from the 80s as well. Keep that bullet proof L28. It’s the stuff around it that breaks down. Keeping and driving these S30’s on the road is just a surreal and raw experience compared to newer cars.
Nice car. When Nissan/Datsun came out with the Z car in 1970. The price was $3,500. The competition was the following. Chevrolet Corvette $6,000 Jaguar XK-E $7,000 Porsche 911e # $9,000 Maserati Ghibli $20,000 Interesting fact is that in 1975. The Datsun 280-Z came equipped with fuel injection. It gave the car better start-up, less emissions. I recommend that you paint it back to blue.
Since this old classic has virtually nothing wrong with it, it would be great to get it a fresh new paint job (original blue) with a little sequence in the paint. As well as new carpet etc...Anything else but this, it would be a shame!
I always like to see them restored to look like new. But if there's anything that's really bad and you have to start replacing lots of stuff then customize it in a way that you like. If the engine is in good shape and doesn't have too many miles, then I'd say try to get it running again. If it's beyond help then a bigger engine that would fit in would be a good idea. Nice job getting it all cleaned up ! 👍
Thank you I appreciate it! 🙏 it's a solid car and would make a good car to profit from on a resto.. but dropping an LS in there, and spinning it around in the parking lot sounds like more fun 😂 I'll make a video soon trying to get the straight six running tho before pull
@@DetailDanefactory engine is perfect for this car and fast enough. The U bolts are notorious for going bad in the rearend. Fun to drive with good suspension
I had the same year car in a yellow color, that I loved more then any car I had ever owned, but it was stollen from me in the 80s, would love to have this car :(
My favourite colour is blue but after googling the Datsun's original colour i can see why the old owner went for the colour that's on the car now. That colour even now in the condition it's in is better than the original.
I would suggest complete restoration from new paint job, carpets, seats and door panel to flushing out all old engine fluids, etc. plus I would love to see Datsun once again running and on the road
How is this a 1975? There's a few tell tale signs. The rear bumper overhang is metal, the hood has the louvers and I believe even those hibcaps are post '75. Looks like a '77-'78. Getting the 6 running could be a challenge but worth it imo. I have a '77 I'm building with a '76 parts car.
One of my good friends do has one that is candy apple red and it was beautiful 30+ years ago. I would love to see you get it going again and give it a nice paint job. I would go with the original color.
No, that car needs a total body restauration. All panels need to be removed, rust areas fixed, repainted. The interior carpets, seats and door panels refinished. The gas tank, brake and electrical lines replaced. The motor and transmission complete reevaluation...
i used to think i was pretty at detailing my cars then i watched Dane... lol. definitely learning some stuff watching your content. I dig your camaro and corvette , itd be cool to see a race between the two lol then wash em after.
Yes definitely restore this Datsun. Factory blue would look nice. Love that it has the original wheels. Try and Get the original engine running too. (Although putting a 350 in it would be pretty cool.) Great job, looking forward to seeing what you decide. 💯👍🏽👨🏻🔧💥
I Appreciate it! 🙌 Carpet will need to be replaced and has been dyed, so I gave it a quick steam Clean and Vac. Usually an entire Extraction I would have done!
Go back with the original color, blue and silver were the two most popular colors with the 75,76,77 280z, and fyi, that isn't a 75 unless they put a 77 hood, bumpers, and wheels on it
Sweet ride most definitely worth a redo DATSUN YES NOW NISSAN but in today's world those are reminders of where we,ve came from plus a win win they were sweet rides but go back to the OG
I loved these cars as a kid, never got to drive one. A kid I went to high school had a 300ZX, his parents doted on him. Please get her back on the road and DEFINITELY, paint her blue. That brown, beige thing doesn't look right.
Noble effort! The interior is soaked in rodent urine. I hope you were wearing a respirator, otherwise that’s what you were inhaling the entire time. Paint it back to the original color. Unfortunately the Zs were notorious ‘rusters’, particularly the lower body areas. Those layered rocker assemblies will allow for copious amounts of hidden rust. Good luck! They’re such great cars!
vacuuming the car is stupid ..... just take out the carpet then vacuum ..... paint the car white ..... throw in a 350Z engine in and supe it up ..... make it crazy .... i hope you have the money for it
Sell it, you guys are crap for letting the car rot. Its a parts car now, find a Z owner and sell cheap. Don't get dumb trying to rip someone off. $1500 max. A RAT ROD???!!! Sell it!
I vote get it running
Hopefully it Starts! 🙏
cut the floor pan out and you can Flintstone it.
Почему так мало лайков, давайте все проголосуем за запуск!
No video next restoration this car??i would like to see this car till it running start❤
Absolutely and paint it back to the blue.
This car is worthy of restoratng. My vote is get it running, new carpet, paint, . Maybe not a complete restoration but a good daily driver quality. 👍

That car would look great with "electric blue" paint. I had a poster of it in my room when I was a kid.
I had one of these cars as a teenager. I would love another one. I would love to see it restored. I will stay tuned to see what happens.
Mice sure love abandoned cars
I vote original blue as well

The blue got my vote instead of the gold

Yup, we had a 76, louvers were added in 77 to the hood
Get it running, drive and enjoy!

Make it a glossy original blue

It's a beautiful car, one of my favourites. My vote is to restore but keep it as original, don't make it something it isn't
Factory color is best. Not many of these cars around that aren't rust buckets. Restore it to factory specs. Fun driver❤
Yes I would love to see more of that is a car that I would like to have myself that is a really nice
i used to think i was pretty at detailing my cars then i watched Dane... lol. definitely learning some stuff watching your content. I dig your camaro and corvette , itd be cool to see a race between the two lol then wash em after.
Hey, Dane. When you detail that you do not clean the inside of the wheel archers.
Blue. Running. ♥ 💎
Blue
Yes definitely restore this Datsun. Factory blue would look nice. Love that it has the original wheels. Try and Get the original engine running too. (Although putting a 350 in it would be pretty cool.) Great job, looking forward to seeing what you decide.

If you are interested to change his colour my opinion is to bring it back to his original colour (blue) 💙 Excellent car!
yumm ! nice Smirnoff ice ! (6:12)
You did an awesome job!!! But I
wish you would show the extractions of the carpets of this car!
I Appreciate it! 🙌 Carpet will need to be replaced and has been dyed, so I gave it a quick steam Clean and Vac. Usually an entire Extraction I would have done!
Let’s get it running

Is that Z equipped to run on E85?
New paint New carpet
Keep it as a classic
I think I would want to keep it all original myself
Sweet ride most definitely worth a redo DATSUN YES NOW NISSAN but in today's world those are reminders of where we,ve came from plus a win win they were sweet rides but go back to the OG
I would restore this car. Thumbs up.
If you repaint go back to the original color. would be a nice car fixed up. it must be lighter now that you vacuumed and washed it lol
I loved these cars as a kid, never got to drive one. A kid I went to high school had a 300ZX, his parents doted on him. Please get her back on the road and DEFINITELY, paint her blue. That brown, beige thing doesn't look right.
Back to blue - Original all the way...

New blue would be great.. not original color but a vibrant blue

LS Swap
I Like How You Think 😎
@DetailDane I've seen someone makes a kit to put a small block in those, but an LS would be better!
Metallic blouw

I'll take it if you don't want it
vacuuming the car is stupid ..... just take out the carpet then vacuum ..... paint the car white ..... throw in a 350Z engine in and supe it up ..... make it crazy .... i hope you have the money for it
I can’t see why you let this rot for years outside given your profession. Really.
Carpet needs to be removed door panels etc. What lies beneath that or behind it remains a mystery because it wasn’t done…. 👎🏼
Restore the car
Who was the “Person”? Who owned this vehicle? Just Disgraceful!
Sell it, you guys are crap for letting the car rot. Its a parts car now, find a Z owner and sell cheap. Don't get dumb trying to rip someone off. $1500 max. A RAT ROD???!!! Sell it!
