I’m going to Europe for the first time tomorrow! I’m so excited. Starting off in France, Italy and then ending the trip in Lisbon. Can’t wait!!! Awesome video
I have visited several countries, and I can assure you that Portuguese people are the most hospitable, pleasant, and inviting people I have ever met. utmost admiration for this nation and its lovely, loving locations.
Ive been searching for a holiday to book as a surprise for my mum’s 60th, after seeing your vlog , Lisbon it is , thank you , your vlogs are amazing and a great recommendation 👍🏼
Cool video. I did a 3 day trip to Lisbon, seen the main historical sites and viewpoints, and did the sunset cruise as well. But my goodness, it was very hilly that you need good boots to walk around
@@callumlakin My favourites are the viewpoints of the city and St. Georges Castle and definitely walk along the Tagus River especially at night in Lisbon
My wife, daughter and I are going to Lisbon for 5 days this coming week. Your video is very informative and straight to the post. Well done and thank you for educating me on this wonderful city.
Very wonderful video. Planning on visiting real soon and this video pretty much sums it up for me as some of the items and things you talk about was already on my list. Thanks for sharing and for doing what you do. ❤❤❤
This seems to be a very interesting place, I hope I can visit sometime in the future. Seeing and sharing places like this is why I love traveling and make videos so much! And please keep up the great job! Subscribed!!
Just saw your videos and found them really helpful! I’ll be traveling to Portugal this October but haven’t found a safe place/ area to book an Airbnb? Which areas do you guys recommend? Thank you!
Portugal is one of the safest countries you can travel to! Crime levels are very low and honestly we haven't heard of any "unsafe" places. We'd just recommend to stay as close as possible to the downtown area as Lisbon, for example, has many hills and if you're staying further away you might have a long walk up the hill!! 😅
Thanks for watching! 3 days in Lisbon is a good amount to see the highlights without rushing too much. 4 days if you’re planning to do a day trip to Sintra from Lisbon. The best areas to stay are Baixa and Chiado and there are so many hotels out there. You can find some good options in our article: www.worldwildhearts.com/post/lisbon-in-portugal
Another great vid. Cheers to you and your pronunciation of Portuguese names and places. Far far better than most Americans or anglophones in general. Cheers!
We stayed about 5 days in Lisbon (including a day trip to Sintra) and also about 5 days in Porto! But you can definitely squeeze in the things to do in 2-3 days in each city! We just took our time 😉
Great video and content! My wife and I are visiting Portugal in a week for 12 days, hoping to get a lot of these things in! What is the tipping culture like there regarding restaurants? I don't think it's as expected as here in the U.S. but it would be good to know...thanks!
Tipping is really not mandatory in Europe! We sometimes just round up the bill (if it's 18€ we would give a 20€ and tell them to keep the change). But in bars, we usually get the change. It's really up to you tbh 😁
Portugal has a mild climate year-round, though the summer can be very hot! We visited at the end of May until the end of June and it was perfect. It wasn't too busy yet!

That’s a though one! The islands of Azores and Madeira are more for nature… tons of great hikes there! Lisbon is all about history, culture and the cuisine! ☺️ maybe you could combine both? Would be best of both worlds!
Hello, just to note in your intro you mentioned ‘backpacking across Africa’. Africa has 54 countries, so therefore highly unlikely to backpack across Africa. Africa is a continent not a country, in the future please state which country within Africa you have backpacked across. Thank you.
Hi! We’ve visited multiple countries on the African continent (in north, center and south!). You can find a break down of some of the countries we visited on our channel playlist (Kenya, Namibia, South Africa, Egypt).
Just got back from Portugal. Honestly, I expected much more from Lisbon. It just seemed very overrated. There are much more interesting portuguese cities, like Coimbra and Porto. Firstly. the center is crowded, not very clean and full of pickpockets and drug dealers and there is not that much to see. Tram 28 was very disappointing. I mean, it's just a tram, but it's overcrowded and you still have to wear a mask on board even in the summer, same thing with the elevators. And most importantly, the people felt very unfriendly and arrogant, especially the bus drivers (even worse in the Algarve region to the south). On the other hand, there is some great food and pastries for relatively low prices and Belém was fantastic! It was definitely my favorite part of the city. It's also worth taking the boat to Almada. Very interesting neighborhood, kinda feels like South America and the Christ statue with the view is impressive. Unfortunately, it closes quite early at 7PM. Definitely, take a day-trip to Sintra, you can also manage to see the Cabo da Roca and the nearby town of Cascais in one day. There is a hop-on hop-off bus from Sintra, which will take you to all of these places for just 11 EUR.
We really enjoyed Lisbon, but maybe our expectations weren’t set as high! But we were there at the end of May so it wasn’t as busy yet. Porto is our favourite city in Portugal!
it is absolutely not “bye-ho”! Don't bring out Brazilian-Portuguese pronunciation into a video about Portugal, please!! The author of this video was almost correct. The Portuguese word "Bairro" should be pronounced, "bye-roo", with an emphasis on the double "R" (which is a bit of a challenge to most native-English speakers), in European Portuguese!
@@miguelcoelho3877 Huh??? So you're telling me for the word "Cachorro" you say Ca-sho-rrow and not Ca-sho-ho ??? . Double R's make a H, I'm pretty sure. The reason I know it's that is because my girlfriend from Sesimbra cussed me out for rolling my double R instead of using H kkkkk
@@Xdarkstar07X It is only in Brazilian-Portuguese that a double "R" is pronounced as an "H". Maybe your girlfriend is Brazilian, or maybe she's lived there and caught their pronunciation. Whatever the case may be, a double "R" in European Portuguese is not pronounced as an "H"! I've encountered a similar situation on a vlog by an American in Lisbon, where he pronounced "Rossio" as "Hossio" undoubtedly after getting his Portuguese pronunciation tips from some Brazilian website... BTW, the word "Cachorro", although Portuguese, is seldom used in Portugal. It is however most common in Brazil, making thus me believe that you've learned your Portuguese from a Brazilian source. Ditto, for your use of "kkkkk" to illustrate laughter, as in European Portuguese we use "haha".
@@miguelcoelho3877 Her family is from CABO VERDE, but she grew up in Sesimbra. Evidently, I have alot of friends from Brazil (RJ), so I can understand why my dialect is from there. I only used Cachorro as a example, and yes i'm aware the other word is "cão". My apologies for my lack of awareness with the Portugal-Portuguese dialect. I always thought it was H for Double R, and if the word starts with R. I seem to have been mistaken
