      @@07Lightless Abasov called the arbiter to complain about Alireza's shoes making too much noise when he was walking around. So, FIDE made him do Alireza do something.
      Alireza commented on it after today, and said that Abasov had every right to complain, if something's breaking his concentration he has to say something, and said that it was obviously FIDE's fault for not planning for people to be walking around considering the way the venue is built.

    • @okty8372
      @okty8372 13 днів тому

      @@07Lightless Abasov asked the chief arbiter to order Alireza to stop walking because his shoes were making too much noise during the game. Following this, the arbiter asked Alireza, who was playing a critical match against Nepo, to cease walking and switch shoes for the next day. This upset Alireza, leading him to tweet about how unprofessional it was for the arbiter to interrupt his reflection to ask him to stop walking. Some people called Alireza "a crybaby" for complaining on Twitter, but most professional players I've heard from said it was abnormal for an arbiter to do this and that he should have waited until the end of the game to address the shoe issue. The match against Nepo was crucial for Alireza as it could have enabled him to win the tournament. At one point, Alireza held a strong advantage, which he later lost. Whether the arbiter's intervention affected the result remains unknown, but the mere fact that we can ask this question is problematic as an arbiter should never influence the outcome of a game outside of the standard chess regulations.

    Vidit played correctly, people are angry because he didn't take the draw and help Hikaru but he knew his position, he had to take chances and go for the win to have any hope of catching, a draw wasn't enough for him.
    To his credit he did take chances, he did generate opportunities to win this game, sadly for him he missed them but the intent was correct.

    *Firouzja (w) - Abasov (b) 1 - 0 (24 moves) (remaining time: **1:09:40** - **57:41**)*
    Alireza achieved a remarkable victory over Abasov, securing the win in just 24 moves! By taking a look at other Abasov game results in this tournament, we can better appreciate Alireza’s exceptional achievement. However, this significant achievement was not given due attention, and the commentary merely suggested that both players were struggling. Such an oversight does not do justice to the game’s outcome. Additionally, there was a failure to acknowledge the personal challenges Alireza faced, particularly the events involving his father, which impacted his performance in rounds 9 and 10 against Ian and Caruana. Despite conducting an interview with Alireza, the decision not to feature it prominently on the main channel was surprising. Given that Alireza is the youngest player to surpass a 2800 rating, the interview was a noteworthy event. It’s hoped that other chess channels on UA-cam will continue to grow in popularity, offering viewers comprehensive, unbiased, and respectful coverage of the sport.
