In my opinion he will always be sir Sven what a legend of our times, always be missed, thank you the memories our Sven, we were lucky to have you, sorely missed left a massive impact on our beautiful game, worldwide, ♥️👏🏼♥️👏🏼♥️
I love football. When I grew up, I loved our local division 5 side and Aston Villa. Swedish pools had english games in winter and on SVT, there was a live game every Saturday. As I grew older and learned to read, I started to like Degerfors as well. I kept my support geographically within Värmland (and Birmingham). Then Svennis travelled to IFK Göteborg. Aston Villa at the time were doing just fine. Degerfors as well, in a lesser league But could I really love two swedish teams? Well, in the start of 1982, IFK had four players named Glenn in their team and it was a sign, right. In the spring of 1982, Svennis lead IFK Göteborg to the UEFA cup trophy, Torbjörn Nilsson destroying Hamburg at Volksparkstadion. Aston Villa won the European Cup with a side that lost their manager a few weeks before. I will never forget the angst when Jimmy Rimmer left the field and Nigel Spinks came on. Such a hero. And then "it must be". The best spring ever.
I will remember Sven-Göran Eriksson, among other things, for the following: (1) He took 16-year-old Theo Walcott to the World Cup before Theo had ever kicked a ball in the Premier League. (2) Although in my opinion he spoke fairly good English as a Swede, he said he couldn't understand a thing when Wayne Rooney was speaking (3) He was an alpha male, a ladies man, and had some high value girlfriends during his time as England manager (4) He managed Ivory Coast during the Africa Cup of Nations even though this is somehow never mentioned by Sky I was saddened to learn of his terminal cancer diagnosis, which he seemed to get on with bravely, and utterly heartbroken by the news of his death.
‘High value girlfriends’ is a bit of an incel thing to say, and the Walcott decision was to give him experience of attending an international tournament as he was likely to be important in the future, not for him to necessarily play at all: as Sven said the 23rd chosen player doesn’t win you the World Cup
0:09 He read that out like "2" quarter-finals at 3 major tournaments. Rather than leading the side "to" 3 quarter-finals at 3 major tournaments. They go on and repeat 2 quarter-finals so I think someone's given them that on a script incorrect info but would've thought some of them would know. Don't know why Merson was talking about Germany in that era. 1of the reasons England beat them 1-5 is because it wasn't their golden generation. How has he mentioned them but not Brazil lol
As an England fan I'm absolutely devastated
RIP Sven a proper all round legend

As a Swede, I would just like to point out that he spoke very poor English in comparison to the rest of the population
RIP SVEN

His private life obviously wasn't perfect but he seemed like a thoroughly decent man.
