I have her book and DVD. Very helpful. I learn something new I can use every time I watch an expert. Check out Jean Brown's Aunt Becky technique. Very fast!
Thanks for the video... so what kind of needle to use,??? sharps or between...?? where to find that thimble...?? I'm still didn't try to do hand stitch.. I'll try, definitely.
Hate all the ads, but wow! Liuxin Newman gets such beautiful little stitches. I'd always heard that you *must* use those fiddly quilting betweens. OK, I have fairly large hands and I always felt like some sort of huge clumsy person trying to quilt with those. Using Quiltlady's needles, I can not only quilt faster and more comfortably, but also the stitches are more regular and smaller!
I tried to hand quilt tonight. My thread spool dropped and shattered, so now my thread will not unwind correctly. I did not have enough light by my chair. My magnifying glasses fell and broke. My thimble fell a couple of times and rolled under the furniture. My chihuahua was trying to get under the quilt. My ferret was climbing up and knocking things off the table. I was struggling, and now I know I was doing it wrong. What a joke, lol. Time to start all over!!!!!! Aaaaahhhhhhggggggg!
I love hand quilting. I wonder if we have any updated data on monofilament thread, as mentioned at the end of this piece. I'd be curious. I don't use it, as a rule, but have some from when I first began to quilt and didn't know any better.
I miss the old HGTV, it was so much better than now days where its just building or rebuilding homes. Do love the thimble lady :)
I agree, I miss it too.
I miss our shows so much! Come on HGTV... bring back our great crafting shows?
Lovely quilting!!
have tried several locations to view the "thimble lady" no volume on any of them
It would be very useful to include links for purchasing the thimbles shown in this program.
