Dharana is a fight, Dhyana is surrender. Dharana is the very peak of the Ego. Dharana means power. Dhyana is letting go of Ego and of that power. It is when you are not. It is very easy for children, because their ego is not yet fully developed. Dharana means Ego fully developed, you are the master of your mind. Dharana Sadhana is the last Sadhana and the peak of all Sadhanas. And yet if you want to be free, you need to jump into abyss, that has no bottom. Abandon all that you gained, abandon yourself, and just jump. then meditation happens. you don't do it, because there nobody who is doing anything. then Samadhi happens, because all doing has stop as well. see, up to Dharana you are adding things into your practice. entering Dhyana you are reducing. Object may or may not be still there, but Dhyana is when subject is gone, Samadhi is when process of observation is gone. Dhyan is not contemplation (contemplation is even below Dharana), Dhyana means meditation in its pure form. Patanjali is pointing towards Dhyana in all his sutras, but as a practice, he can get you only up to Dharana. The rest is up to you. there is no concentration in meditation, because there is no one who can concentrate. If there is, be sure that you didn't enter meditation yet. meditation technique, yes, and there are 112 techniques designed by Shiva (the first Yogi), but they are just tools to get to the real thing. Dharana should come also with the warning. One who is established in Dharana posses an immense power. that power can be blessing and it can be a curse and downfall of many yogis. Power has a tendency to corrupt, without exception. you need to move on and let go, otherwise it will. so, good luck.

i been practising tratak for some time now, and what i get is that you get an ability to picture an object in your mind with your eyes closed - like sun, star, candle flame .. or like a droplet of water on the floor, and then the mind becomes still .. and starts moving deeper towards something. It feels like a wall ... maybe you understand ..

Namaskar, this is the support team🙏 In the context of using mantras in meditation, it is important that the process of pronouncing a mantra be accompanied by a deep understanding of its idea. Given that meditation requires deep concentration and active management of attention, listening to a mantra through headphones can create additional sound effects that can distract the mind from the meditation process. Thus, this may not be the most effective approach as it may distract the mind from deep concentration and mental transformation, which are key aspects of meditation practice. Instead, it is recommended to focus on reciting the mantra without additional sound influences to achieve a better state of meditation. Best wishes, Meditation Steps🌸
