Also I was wondering about the best route to go on buying a set of injectors, without paying $140.00 bucks apiece from a dealer to get new ones? I saw in your video You used genuine OEM Denso but in your links section it took me to Amazon but it was a different brand of 12 hole injector? I’ve seen sets of remanufactured ones on e-bay for like $32 bucks for 4 but I’m skeptical of that? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated! And thanks for your great videos!

    Did you have to take the fuse out for the fuel pump or when you take the connectors off, no fuel will come out when you remove the injectors from the fuel rail?

    • @saneauto
      @saneauto  4 роки тому +4

      I didnt have to take the fuse out but some fuel sprayed out. Theres some residual pressure there when you pull the rail off. Its best to cover it with a large rag or something to keep it from spraying on you. If your having a really bad day it could spray you in the face. so safety glasses and a rag might be advisable. It only sprayed about a 2 or 3 ounces for about half a second though. I wouldnt let anyone smoke near ya during this job.

      So there is no fuel pump fuse on a 3rd gen Prius, so I just went for it. The gas didn’t spurt out like others have said, but a bunch did leak out. Maybe a quarter of cup or so. I put some paper towels underneath the rail to absorb most of it. (Maybe not necessary). The job seems to have gone well, and I think it fixed my sputtering problem. The old injectors were pretty nasty. Thanks again for the video. It gave me the confidence I needed to get this done.

    Question- a cylinder misfire is the fuel injectors not the spark plugs? My 2010 prius shows all 4 cylinder misfires 😩. And exhaust gas recirculation flow insufficient detected (P0401 code)
    (P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304) and (P261B code) 😫😫😫 So many codes. Jesus i hope this is something I can do myself. From the video it looks easy.

      Thank you for your comment. I wish I had better news. Unfortunately a Misfire can be caused by: plugs, coils, injectors, vacuum leak, dirty throttle body, dirty intake manifold, bad timing chain, bad cam phaser, low octane gasoline etc. Just to name a few. oh and blown head gasket. The egr problem is probably dirty EGR passages etc.

    Why is it hard to put the fuel injector back in the fuel reel? And still leak now have to buy more ring and try again.

      You need to wiggle them in slowly left to right and make sure the O-rings on the injectors are lubricated I used the same fuel. If you force them in dry the O-rings will crease or break every time. You probably figured this out by now just posted it in case someone else has this issue

      Gandy8604 your head gasket is most likely blown. Known Prius 2010-14 issue. I had the same issue.

      You can check your coolant to see if it is a gasket. There is something you can get at autozone. It will test your coolant to see if oil is in it. Essentially, the two swapping spit through the gasket. If the coolant is good.. try spark plugs and fuel injectors
