One of my recent Princess auto visits involved going in to get some cans of white lithium grease that were on sale and somehow I ended up with a 4 foot long spreader/clamp and a metal shelf for the garage.
Instead of mirrors, you can get cheap endoscopes for your phone/laptop that can get in tight places. They've saved my bacon many times looking between walls to route cables, find leaks, etc.
five was the original standard but I have three RGB lights that all use three pin so I ended up going with that. I did make sure I bought proper DMX cables though because they need to be able to support the data rate and I don’t think the audio XLR cables meet that spec.
Don't buy cheap Ac detectors. Get a good expensive one and it will work fine. I spent like 50€ on good one and it detects live wires from ~10-50cm The ones you bought are toys
Princess Auto is always a great place to go in and check out what they have. To bad on the voltage detectors, teardown time.

@@GadgetReboot You got away easy then.

We use 5 pin DMX in the AV Event Industry ... probably just to differentiate them from audio XLR cables.

@@GadgetReboot Just add a 47 ohm resistor in series inside one of the XLR connectors on the cable. 😏
It's ironic that a voltage detector needs batteries. "He's behind you!!".
I don't think that I ever mentioned that I soldered together the GR Fuzz you sent me. It worked great. Thanks.
I think it’s almost 2 years ago I made it. I should try to put mine in an enclosure or something.
@@GadgetReboot Same here, I have a few projects ahead of that tho.
Im using wiha detector and its consistant. Best advice is not to use cheap stuff for ac detection

Never trust them
