Thats because he doesnt understand here , that she likes him actually, so he is scared. She doesnt say " I want to be with you in jp", she says " Iam looking for you" So he is confused. She never tried to kiss him, like Tifa, so he is not sure at all, especially after she told him about Zack in chapter 9. I don't like that they translated this phrase as "I want to be with you," because it's almost a direct confession, and it looks like Cloud is doing her a favor by taking her hand for confessing without making her look like a complete fool. Although in fact the situation is such that Cloud absolutely doesnt understand Aerith and what she means, and he takes her hand, interlacing his fingers, afraid that she might not like it and reject his action

Cloud knows he doesn’t really know who he is “it feels like a bunch of people live in me”. And Aerith/Tifa knows that something is wrong. She want to be with the real cloud. That quote is actually the most famous quote in FF7 for Japan when it first came out.

I mean yeah, some nuances need to be changed for cultural reasons, as what's much more revealing in Japanese means nothing in Western cultures. But some of those changes are out of place, making the stumbling to find words in the church a bit weird after this date scene (which obviously was not necessarily happening, but being the one in the credits). The more accurate translation would have made more sense together than the English version. (Although native speakers or such more aware of the way such speak, will not see the "like and liking" choice of words as a rejection, but actually more the opposite.) And probably the devs will not dare to lean towards either too much in the game, as obviously you don't want to risk the future sales to either side!😂
I love Tifa so much. I think her and Cloud are amazing together. But when i see Aerith and Cloud together - idk why, but the dynamic of those to still feels stronger and more right for me for some reason.
yeah I feel the same because shes more straight forward so it seem so surprise cloud and its an interesting dynamic while tifa is shy and its more of a awwww moment with them but you can still see the connection like they were looking at each other the whole time so i still ship tifa and cloud
Even from an objective standpoint, Clerith is written much more romantically. Cloti is nice, but I feel like they don’t have near as many “deep” moments. Clerith feels like a true blue love story.
@@astrea4020 If you really think "Clerith is written much more romantically," I'd suggest watching *The Importance of Cloud and Tifa's Relationship* by Xander's Cut As shown in this clip, both Cloud and Aerith are bring up the people they actually love. Cloud has been in love with Tifa since childhood. Tifa is also the same way, wanting Cloud to save her if she is ever in trouble. She's also the one who restores Cloud's mind and memories in the original, and will likely do the same in the next game. The reason Aerith even showed interest in Cloud is due to his similarity to Zack. That's not a healthy way to start a relationship. Imagine finding out that the reason your girlfriend likes you is because you remind her of her ex.

But if you wish to compare the dates in rebirth directly, there's a lot more romance in that holding hands in that specific way than in a kiss. I mean seriously, most people would kiss a random person they fancy in a club, but they wouldn't hold hands like this.🤷♂️

Tifa is very sweet and a very nice person. But Cloud and Aerith just click naturally it's undescribable. She brings out a side of him that very few can. They have that bond that just feels very deep and heartfelt 💓

She is someone who speaks to Clouds heart more without saying anything. The impossible is always the most wanted. @@bugs2814Everything was cleared up in Rebirth. Aerith confesses her love for Cloud, both in this date and the ending. Even Zack asks Marlene if she loves him, and Marlene said yes. You can tell Zack is hurt by that realization but like a true friend he is happy for both of them. Because in the original game, Aerith told Marlene to keep it a secret.

I like Tifa, but Aerith pours it on thick! She just actually told Cloud she wanted to be with him! I also thought it was funny when Cloud asked Aerith earlier if she still had feelings for Zack and she said he got right to the point!
100% Aerith fan here so it was clear from the beginning of the game that dates in Gold Saucer will be with Aerith. Tifa is nice no doubt about that but still there is only one girl and it is our flower girl ❤
I know people are pissed that there's no kiss scene between the two... But 3:50 reminds me a lot of how Cloud and Tifa were during the "Under the Highwind" scene in the OG. And it makes sense. Just like back then it was their last day to defeat Sephiroth, Aerith knows this will be her last night before her fated demise. It's very similar in a way.

Cloud kiss with Tifa is a reaction to his jealousy and uncertainty about Aerith feelings, he seizes the moment to address his unresolved emotions. But the ambiguity of the love triangle might just remain until they're done with the series, if not even after that, to keep all fans interested. Some people are easily so extreme that they'd outrightly stop buying the game, if one option was suddenly declared totally non-existent.
To those saying the Tifa kiss was the most romantic gesture... as a guy, I can with 100% certainty say that the way Cloud takes Aerith's hand, locks fingers with hers and looks slowly at her, that is a guy saying without words "I cherish you." A kiss can mean many things but a guy doing something like that? That's love. Aerith/Cloud are way more like real life couples, awkward with each other that turns into tenderness in a natural way. Cloud/Tifa & Zack/Aerith works too as a love story but it's clear to anyone who has been in love with someone that Cloud/Aerith is "the love of your life" story in the Remake.
It makes sense that Cloud is acting distant in the date. He remembers Zack and knows he needs to tell Aerith but can’t because he promised Tifa. Cloud feels like he’s hiding something from Aerith and feels guilty.
I think cloud was distant not because the memory, but because Aerith openly said she wants Zack and then sang an entire song about Zack coming back to her like 5 minutes before the date

He merely remembered that he knew Zack and that he died, but he still doesn't remember that he was never a SOLDIER and that Zack died for him. Red and Aerith were my two highest relationships and I got the date with Red so here I am watching this lol. Red scene was very cute and that guy deserves the world after all he's been through. But it was not this steamy 😅
They are sooo meant to be, the feeling, the chemistry they have in remake and rebirth are unmatched. Even if the feeling cloud feel at first was because of Zack, now it’s sincere. I hope they will meet again in the last part and be happy
I would like to point out that this Aerith and Cloud can have 5 dates in Remake while he only 2 with Tifa. The one in Kalm which she called a date. Then the optional one's which are the sidequest beach quest, first golden saucer date, and second one. Then the last one being a walk in the other world. Nothing wrong with Tifa but I like square is pushing a certain girl. Also in the og game the Tifa skywheel date was super short so they needed to add a lot more to it for the remake. Aerith’s ride stayed most true to the OG.
Not to be that person but don't you think it's even worse that she has five dates with Cloud and can't get a kiss, meanwhile Tifa barely asks a question and gets verbal confirmation, a handhold, hug, and kiss in a matter of a minute?

Of all the thing they could’ve changed in rebirth, I would’ve liked for aerith to say something like “but I think I’m starting to find him, and I like him.” In the og it was a hint that he’s not who he says he is. Since clouds already kind of aware, we don’t need the foreshadowing that the og had. In this version I just feel sad for aerith, like Cloud isn’t giving her enough. I’m cool with his shyness, I think it’s great, but he just comes across in parts of this scene as not that interested. Especially given the tifa scene that you can get.
There are so many moments leading up to the date scene that show Cloud cares deeply for both Aerith and Tifa. There were moments in both dates that I liked. The hand holding in the Clerith scene was more tender and sweet. The Cloti scene was definitely more passionate. Although Cloud is confused and knows he’s not himself, he does know he has a responsibility to protect both of them. I think up to this point in the story, the player has some say into which persona/identity Cloud leans into - Zach or himself - which is part of the madness that he is experiencing (and honestly, part of the fun of this game).
it just my opinion, but i think in the game Aerith and cloud is canon, since in advent children she is gone. and cloud and tifa starting to get close there.
Every time I watch this video, I notice that when he interlocks his fingers, his mouth moves like he's whispering something to Aerith. The fireworks are preventing us from hearing it was intentional. I am curious about his response. Maybe something smooth and dorky like... "Then I'll hold your hand until the ride is over." Or "I want to be with you too" The possibilities! Cloud has a tendency to be reserved and have a bit of a shy side added to his character.
Tifa is the hottest girl for sure, but Cloud and Her moments together seem tense and uneased. The opposite is with Aerith, they seem more natural and relaxed. Cloud and Aerith seem better together than Cloud and Tifa. And this is because of Aerith's Personality it balances Cloud very well. When you get this perfect balance between couples they bound beautifully. By the way Zack is nothing like cloud, they are the opposite. So I think Aerith is kinda wrong on that one. Even if cloud has taken some of his memories still he is nothing like Zack can't copy him, only in Cloud's made memories he acts like Zack. Cloud is more like Tifa, and Zack is more like Aerith.
tifa and cloud are two incredibly traumatised humans, who don’t have the supernatural facilities that allow them to channel their emotions the way aerith does. the beauty of cloti is that they’re truly nothing but two souls in love and battling mental illness, but they can’t tell each other that. tifa watched cloud grow from a bright eyed young boy into a shell of his old self and she feels helpless, ofc they would have a tenser aura. tifa lost her father and cloud and can’t deal with it. btw i love aerith sm she’s an amazing char but i am a cloti/zaerith fan. i just think using “they are so tense and uneased” is a pretty pathetic copout and a sign that you dont really understand their dynamic and what it truly represents. cloud/aerith is definitely platonic imo, they both find comfort in each other to aid their grief of zack. tifa and cloud have been in love since they were kids, but they’re a textbook example of right people, wrong time.

The whole time in Rebirth she is opening up about her own trauma, loneliness, isolation, and loss of loved ones. Both Aerith and Cloud understand how it feels to be alone and ostracized by the world. They know how to communicate and be there for one another. Aerith has moved on from Zack now to Cloud and Rebirth spells that out multiple times. There's literally no way to argue against that anymore. It's a love triangle. As someone who does ship Cloud and Aerith, I know Cloud has feelings for BOTH girls. It's just Cloud and Aerith's bond is unmistakably special.

This was always what kept me from being fully on the Clerith ship. Cloud took on Zack's personality and memories and I just feel Aerith is attracted to that. She doesn't know the "real" him...and I hate to validate all the toxic Cloti's here but Tifa is the only one who has seen the real Cloud.
@@annirachael3954 What makes people think that there's nothing of the actual Cloud left in what he shows? He's always been a distanced outsider, the main changes are his imagined past and the moments when he goes nuts into brutality. But the distanced, closed personality was there before, which is no surprise given he was disliked in his childhood. He warms up towards Aerith, but obviously doesn't need to warm up towards Tifa anymore. That doesn't mean Tifa has the exclusivity of knowing all true traits of Cloud, she just has the exclusivity of knowing a chunk of his past can't be true. He's not even adapting Zack's personality, who's more cheery etc., he mostly adapts his body language and SOLDIER mannerisms.

I'm so late for this but I'm sooo happy this happened the way it did We know that Aerith and Cloud are connected and Caith Sid says so in the temple but love has many forms and Aerith and Cloud's love is pure and kind almost like a best friend protecting the love that Zack had for her, but Tifa always felt like the right match because she always tried to understand Cloud as himself while Aerith was trying to understand why she saw Zack so much in him. Love nonetheless but not romantic as Tifa and Cloud in my opinion. Aerith was the love that Zack needed to fulfil through Cloud and now they are back together in the livestream ❤
Barret's is a little funny but it's mostly sweet. I like all the dates for different reasons, but yeah Red's might be my least favorite other than the bros date.
All the dates are great but Cloud is never going to officially choose Aerith or Tifa. The game was never focused on romance it is only given to players as a tease or option. Square does a good job at making the fan base go crazy over who Cloud really loves 😂 gg square. Also both cloti and clerith shippers can be toxic, just sayin.
I mean yea this was just part of the fan service. Their romance wasnt really all that important and there’s no canon as to whom cloud had feelings with lol. It’s really just up to the players although both awrith and tifa like cloud though. It’s a question of who does cloud really liked.
@amariahxo450 if you have high affinity with her he does kiss her but if he has high affinity with others he doesn't. The game is about options, the beginning half of the game favors aerith but in the later half it favors tifa. In AC a romance with Tifa is never official. In the end SE has the game setup so you can favor whoever you want.

This date may look romantic from the outside, but once you know the characters, it's 1000 times better. This is Cloud giving Aerith the affection she always needed. Character development is insane.
The whole Tifa/Aerith debate is so hard for me. Tifa and Cloud have the history, the deep affection, the sexual tension, and seem to be where the game points to, but Aerith and Cloud just seem like the more happy, healthy, more gracious and understanding relationship.
I love Aerith...she is her own Gold Saucer. Yeah, yeah in the end Clerith just doesn't work...we know. Not because these two characters don't fit together but more about the timing of their relationship...They're thrown into the mess of things too fast and just kind of, automatically friendzone each other until the flame just dies out. CC doesn't give them any breaks either, shamelessly re-envisioning the 'falling through the roof' moment as an "original Zerith highlight"... a bloody tragedy that one. Still no Cloti can deny there was a flame...Cloud is genuinely introverted, but Aerith is so sweet in this scene you can watch him warming up to her fast. At this point he feels awkward because he does remember Zack, but not what really happened 5 years ago...he doesn't want to steal his girl, even though he's dead.
I personally like Aeirth and Cloud together so the ending being the thing that doesn't allow for a relationship would be sad for me. However even if its not romantic, I do feel like the devs have made Clerith the stronger bond compared to cloti whether that is just because of the lore or they will romance them as a canon couple
Kind of cold there at about 30 seconds in lol He probably didn't feel right considering the past with Zack but he still could have fooled around with her on the fucking skywheel. 🤦 lol
This happens at the start of Ch. 12 when you go back to Gold Saucer, but just before the first boss fight. You need high affection with Aerith. So make sure you: 1. Unlock and use all the Clerith synergy skills and abilities 2. Do the side quests where she's the one accepting it from the NPCs 3. Choose the best replies in the conversations with a "....." above her head.
You can get two versions of each date. In Cloud and Aerith's, he either just lets her hold onto him or he'll hold her hand if you get the intimate version. In Tifa's, he confirms mutual feelings and hugs her, or you get the kiss if your affinity is high enough. When you're playing, you have to get the light blue smiley above the person's head for the best version of the date.
Don't worry, you can get the Clerith kiss scene as an alternative option thing through the magical moddings on Rebirth when it comes into the PC console stuff somehow or something. I don't know, just saying ok so yea haha 👌.
Ok how? Should Cloud be dead in the Lifestream for a few minutes where she can find Aerith and have a quick kiss there before getting revived to the present timeframe or make Zack and Aerith kiss each other in the Lifestream and she suddenly sees Cloud through Zack in her eyes somehow or something?
@@ching-hohunkin6893 I'm not a storyteller. But I give my version. *SPOILER ALERT!* Just like the credit, Cloud can communicate with her, but the others don't (CoD: BO1 reference). Cloud will meet Aerith, if they are not with him. Aerith will assist Cloud and his teammates if they struggle. After Cloud defeated "The Final Boss" stopping that thing, Aerith is alive with everyone else, and Cloud will be kissing her at the ending. It's my version for the last part. I apologize if you disagree with my version.
Hmm ok I see. Yea I understand the reference, but that might not happen in that way somehow though. I mean I can see Cloud would be like the only one who can see and feel Aerith in the Lifestream on a high spiritual astral level, and maybe Tifa too in terms of best friendship bonds with each other somehow; but I don’t think that Cloud would make the choice of locking lips with Aerith on his own terms though, whether Zack is there with them witnessing it as it happens in front of him or not or something. I’m not sure but I think the least thing that one of them could do for each other or give each other when the right time comes to meet up again would be a nice simple kiss on the cheek or forehead at best as good friends, and a hug can be an additional option thing too if possibly necessary such as the CloTi Gold Saucer Ferris Wheel date scene but without the kiss at the end or whatever. I don’t know but hey anything can happen in Part 3 at random possibilities and beyond so who knows that they do kiss each other at the end of some other major parts and other stuff and whatnot so just saying ok haha.
I think it’s possible for Cloud and Aerith to love each other very deeply - and platonically. I think Aerith has realized here that her romantic attraction to Cloud centred around the echoes of Zack she sees in him, but much of his true personality is still a mystery to her - kind of to both of them, actually. And while she’d like there to be something more between them, she knows she can’t (and probably shouldn’t) proceed any further without first finding the 100% genuine Cloud. And thus she asks that he indulge her for the time being - like one other commenter mentioned, so she can have the experience she wanted to have with Zack - and Cloud complies, likely because he feels a sense of guilt for withholding the fact that Zack is dead. That’s my interpretation, at least. Aerith will always be best girl for me, and I truly believe she and Cloud care deeply for each other, but the sense of romance between them is built on a very rickety foundation, given Cloud’s convoluted mental state and Aerith’s enduring admiration of Zack and his charms. That they spend a good chunk of their “date” talking about their other potential love interests lends weight to this notion. I do believe everyone is entitled to their own opinions, however, and Cleriths and Clotis should do their best to peacefully coexist. Maybe there was something genuine here between Cloud and Aerith - but it was abruptly cut short, and odds are we’ll never know if it could have grown into something more.

comparing this scene with clouds date with tifa is fascinating. he neither kisses aertith, unlike he does tifa, nor does he look at aerith longingly when the fireworks go off. another thing i noticed is that he seems surprisingly eager during the theater performance when he’s performing with tifa (literally pulling her passionately towards him), while with aerith cloud does the performance is a very formal way and there doesn’t seem to be any noticeable chemistry unlike with tifa. not to mention the fact that aerith and yuffie both have to literally drag cloud by the arm when entering the couples only area of nautilus, while he willingly holds tifa’s hand and walks with her out of his own free will. there are many things one wouldn’t necessarily notice unless they either played the game more than once choosing different options or they compared the scenes side by side. but i swear, once you do you absolutely cannot unsee it. there’s much more i could say about cloud and tifa vs aerith but my point still stands lol. the devs have a favorite and so does cloud.
I gotta be honest I am all onboard with Tifa/Cloud but I'm kind of glad this is the date I got. To me, this is a really great example of how much Aerith wants/needs closure around what happened to Zack. She says no about Tifa talking to her because she wants CLOUD to tell her and tell her all about how they were friends SO MUCH but he's so scared of her hating him and hurting her. To me the hand hold/snuggle isn't romantic at all- it's just two people grieving together and comforting each other.

To me og ff7 canon date is aerith. New ff7 canon date is tifa. Mainly because Tifa and Cloud share a kiss in this game. Canon long term relationship is Tifa for obvious reasons. They slept with eachother under the Highwind in the og game. Plus Aerith's whole initial attraction to Cloud is because she reminds him of Zack. Plus the mandatory date with Aerith at the endgame of rebirth lets her "know where we stand."
A kiss is not even required. Look at the last sequence slowly. How soft he is and nervous like a highschool boy on his first date. And how she looks at him full of love and excitement, not quite believing that he is really taking her hand. and how they gently interlog their fingers. I didn't see it at first but dude, after watching it several times, I tell you this is peak romance right there. Whoever directed this scene is a genius.

I feel Cloud become more borring with these FF7 remake and rebirth I don't know if it's because of the story to be more extended, the graphism that show more details/expression or just bacause I'm an adult and not teenager anymore like at FF7 time I still enjoy play these 2 remake but far too much fan service in my opinion. By listening to their voicelines in the game too, Cloud and Tifa are able to communicate beyond “we are on a date, let’s have fun.” In the interactions between the two during her side quest in chapter 7, they were talking about the past, and sharing their accomplishments with each other. Tifa expressed that younger Tifa would be proud of where she is now. On his beach date with Aerith though, Aerith kept going on about how a date should be, or how Cloud should enjoy himself more. There wasn’t much deep conversations or anything that would come close to as meaningful as Tifa and his relationship. The way I see it is that Aerith is his first love. It’s the puppy love. Relationship is playful, and exciting. But Tifa on the other hand is Cloud’s true love. The two go through hard times, but at the end of the day, Tifa is the one who brings Cloud back to his true identity. She is the one where they can both make each other better people. She is the one who actually knows the real Cloud and understands him on a deeper level. Tifa genuinely loves Cloud. Aerith has a crush on him. There is a difference.

The more accurate translation would have made more sense together than the English version. As shown in this clip, both Cloud and Aerith are bring up the people they actually love. Cloud has been in love with Tifa since childhood. Tifa is also the same way, wanting Cloud to save her if she is ever in trouble. She's also the one who restores Cloud's mind and memories in the original, and will likely do the same in the next game. The reason Aerith even showed interest in Cloud is due to his similarity to Zack. That's not a healthy way to start a relationship. Imagine finding out that the reason your girlfriend likes you is because you remind her of her ex.

First meeting outside the room: the reason why Tifa ask Cloud because all party member going off their own on skywhell leaving Tifa alone, thats why she go to Cloud cause she had no one else to go with. I find it weird that Cloud brings up about talking to Aerith about Zack in his date. My assumption is because Cloud wants to know / confirmation about if Aerith still likes Zack or not from Tifa. Even when Tifa says "Not yet" talking to Aerith, Cloud still assume Aerith still like Zack.
Cloud kiss with Tifa is a reaction to his jealousy and uncertainty about Aerith feelings, he seizes the moment to address his unresolved emotions. He probably is aware that Tifa tried to kiss him in Gongaga, and how she feels about him. This act is self-indulgent, aligning with his character ego protecting trajectory at this stage.
Real life comparison: Its like if you found out your girlfriend is cheating on you, and you want to get even / revenge / try torget it by dating someone else even if you dont really like the person you are dating.
I think this was the devs intention of kinda telling you "this date is not Canon", they could have put the talk about zack in non optional scene outside of date.

With Aerith date, Cloud asking about Zack make sense, because he wants to see the reaction of Aerith and direct confirmation if she still like Zack or not.

But the ambiguity of the love triangle might just remain until they're done with the series, if not even after that, to keep all fans interested. To those saying the Tifa kiss was the most romantic gesture... as a guy, I can with 100% certainty say that the way Cloud takes Aerith's hand, locks fingers with hers and looks slowly at her, that is a guy saying without words "I cherish you." A kiss can mean many things but a guy doing something like that? That's love. Aerith/Cloud are way more like real life couples, awkward with each other that turns into tenderness in a natural way. Cloud/Tifa & Zack/Aerith works too as a love story but it's clear to anyone who has been in love with someone that Cloud/Aerith is "the love of your life" story in the Remake.
It makes sense that Cloud is acting distant in the date. He remembers Zack and knows he needs to tell Aerith but can’t because he promised Tifa. Cloud feels like he’s hiding something from Aerith and feels guilty.

I would like to point out that this Aerith and Cloud can have 5 dates in Remake while he only 2 with Tifa. The one in Kalm which she called a date. Then the optional one's which are the sidequest beach quest, first golden saucer date, and second one. Then the last one being a walk in the other world. Nothing wrong with Tifa but I like square is pushing a certain girl. Also in the og game the Tifa skywheel date was super short so they needed to add a lot more to it for the remake. Aerith’s ride stayed most true to the OG.

Of all the thing they could’ve changed in rebirth, I would’ve liked for aerith to say something like “but I think I’m starting to find him, and I like him.” In the og it was a hint that he’s not who he says he is. Since clouds already kind of aware, we don’t need the foreshadowing that the og had. In this version I just feel sad for aerith, like Cloud isn’t giving her enough. I’m cool with his shyness, I think it’s great, but he just comes across in parts of this scene as not that interested. Especially given the tifa scene that you can get.

There are so many moments leading up to the date scene that show Cloud cares deeply for both Aerith and Tifa. There were moments in both dates that I liked. The hand holding in the Clerith scene was more tender and sweet. The Cloti scene was definitely more passionate. Although Cloud is confused and knows he’s not himself, he does know he has a responsibility to protect both of them. I think up to this point in the story, the player has some say into which persona/identity Cloud leans into - Zach or himself - which is part of the madness that he is experiencing (and honestly, part of the fun of this game).
it just my opinion, but i think in the game Aerith and cloud is canon, since in advent children she is gone. and cloud and tifa starting to get close there.
Every time I watch this video, I notice that when he interlocks his fingers, his mouth moves like he's whispering something to Aerith. The fireworks are preventing us from hearing it was intentional. I am curious about his response. Maybe something smooth and dorky like...

Cloud has a tendency to be reserved and have a bit of a shy side added to his character.
Tifa is the hottest girl for sure, but Cloud and Her moments together seem tense and uneased. The opposite is with Aerith, they seem more natural and relaxed. Cloud and Aerith seem better together than Cloud and Tifa. And this is because of Aerith's Personality it balances Cloud very well. When you get this perfect balance between couples they bound beautifully. By the way Zack is nothing like cloud, they are the opposite. So I think Aerith is kinda wrong on that one. Even if cloud has taken some of his memories still he is nothing like Zack can't copy him, only in Cloud's made memories he acts like Zack. Cloud is more like Tifa, and Zack is more like Aerith.
tifa and cloud are two incredibly traumatised humans, who don’t have the supernatural facilities that allow them to channel their emotions the way aerith does. the beauty of cloti is that they’re truly nothing but two souls in love and battling mental illness, but they can’t tell each other that. tifa watched cloud grow from a bright eyed young boy into a shell of his old self and she feels helpless, ofc they would have a tenser aura. tifa lost her father and cloud and can’t deal with it.
btw i love aerith sm she’s an amazing char but i am a cloti/zaerith fan. i just think using “they are so tense and uneased” is a pretty pathetic copout and a sign that you dont really understand their dynamic and what it truly represents.
cloud/aerith is definitely platonic imo, they both find comfort in each other to aid their grief of zack. tifa and cloud have been in love since they were kids, but they’re a textbook example of right people, wrong time.

Both Aerith and Cloud understand how it feels to be alone and ostracized by the world. They know how to communicate and be there for one another. Aerith has moved on from Zack now to Cloud and Rebirth spells that out multiple times. There's literally no way to argue against that anymore.
It's a love triangle. As someone who does ship Cloud and Aerith, I know Cloud has feelings for BOTH girls. It's just Cloud and Aerith's bond is unmistakably special.

This was always what kept me from being fully on the Clerith ship. Cloud took on Zack's personality and memories and I just feel Aerith is attracted to that. She doesn't know the "real" him...and I hate to validate all the toxic Cloti's here but Tifa is the only one who has seen the real Cloud.

He's always been a distanced outsider, the main changes are his imagined past and the moments when he goes nuts into brutality. But the distanced, closed personality was there before, which is no surprise given he was disliked in his childhood. That doesn't mean Tifa has the exclusivity of knowing all true traits of Cloud, she just has the exclusivity of knowing a chunk of his past can't be true. I'm so late for this but I'm sooo happy this happened the way it did We know that Aerith and Cloud are connected and Caith Sid says so in the temple but love has many forms and Aerith and Cloud's love is pure and kind almost like a best friend protecting the love that Zack had for her, but Tifa always felt like the right match because she always tried to understand Cloud as himself while Aerith was trying to understand why she saw Zack so much in him. All the dates are great but Cloud is never going to officially choose Aerith or Tifa. The game was never focused on romance it is only given to players as a tease or option. Square does a good job at making the fan base go crazy over who Cloud really loves 😂 gg square. Also both cloti and clerith shippers can be toxic, just sayin.

The game is about options, the beginning half of the game favors aerith but in the later half it favors tifa. In AC a romance with Tifa is never official. The whole Tifa/Aerith debate is so hard for me. Tifa and Cloud have the history, the deep affection, the sexual tension, and seem to be where the game points to, but Aerith and Cloud just seem like the more happy, healthy, more gracious and understanding relationship.

I love Aerith...she is her own Gold Saucer. Yeah, yeah in the end Clerith just doesn't work...we know. Not because these two characters don't fit together but more about the timing of their relationship...They're thrown into the mess of things too fast and just kind of, automatically friendzone each other until the flame just dies out. CC doesn't give them any breaks either, shamelessly re-envisioning the 'falling through the roof' moment as an "original Zerith highlight"... a bloody tragedy that one.
Still no Cloti can deny there was a flame...Cloud is genuinely introverted, but Aerith is so sweet in this scene you can watch him warming up to her fast. At this point he feels awkward because he does remember Zack, but not what really happened 5 years ago...he doesn't want to steal his girl, even though he's dead.
I personally like Aeirth and Cloud together so the ending being the thing that doesn't allow for a relationship would be sad for me. However even if its not romantic, I do feel like the devs have made Clerith the stronger bond compared to cloti whether that is just because of the lore or they will romance them as a canon couple

This happens at the start of Ch. 12 when you go back to Gold Saucer, but just before the first boss fight.
You need high affection with Aerith. So make sure you:
1. Unlock and use all the Clerith synergy skills and abilities
2. Do the side quests where she's the one accepting it from the NPCs
3. Choose the best replies in the conversations with a "....." above her head.

In my play through, why didn't Cloud hold Aerith hand?
you didn't raise her affection level high enough
You can get two versions of each date. In Cloud and Aerith's, he either just lets her hold onto him or he'll hold her hand if you get the intimate version. In Tifa's, he confirms mutual feelings and hugs her, or you get the kiss if your affinity is high enough. When you're playing, you have to get the light blue smiley above the person's head for the best version of the date.
Don't worry, you can get the Clerith kiss scene as an alternative option thing through the magical moddings on Rebirth when it comes into the PC console stuff somehow or something. I don't know, just saying ok so yea haha 👌.

Just like the credit, Cloud can communicate with her, but the others don't (CoD: BO1 reference). Cloud will meet Aerith, if they are not with him. Aerith will assist Cloud and his teammates if they struggle. After Cloud defeated "The Final Boss" stopping that thing, Aerith is alive with everyone else, and Cloud will be kissing her at the ending.

Hmm ok I see. Yea I understand the reference, but that might not happen in that way somehow though. I mean I can see Cloud would be like the only one who can see and feel Aerith in the Lifestream on a high spiritual astral level, and maybe Tifa too in terms of best friendship bonds with each other somehow; but I don’t think that Cloud would make the choice of locking lips with Aerith on his own terms though, whether Zack is there with them witnessing it as it happens in front of him or not or something. I’m not sure but I think the least thing that one of them could do for each other or give each other when the right time comes to meet up again would be a nice simple kiss on the cheek or forehead at best as good friends, and a hug can be an additional option thing too if possibly necessary such as the CloTi Gold Saucer Ferris Wheel date scene but without the kiss at the end or whatever. I don’t know but hey anything can happen in Part 3 at random possibilities and beyond so who knows that they do kiss each other at the end of some other major parts and other stuff and whatnot so just saying ok haha.

I think it’s possible for Cloud and Aerith to love each other very deeply - and platonically. I think Aerith has realized here that her romantic attraction to Cloud centred around the echoes of Zack she sees in him, but much of his true personality is still a mystery to her - kind of to both of them, actually. And while she’d like there to be something more between them, she knows she can’t (and probably shouldn’t) proceed any further without first finding the 100% genuine Cloud. And thus she asks that he indulge her for the time being - like one other commenter mentioned, so she can have the experience she wanted to have with Zack - and Cloud complies, likely because he feels a sense of guilt for withholding the fact that Zack is dead.
That’s my interpretation, at least. Aerith will always be best girl for me, and I truly believe she and Cloud care deeply for each other, but the sense of romance between them is built on a very rickety foundation, given Cloud’s convoluted mental state and Aerith’s enduring admiration of Zack and his charms. That they spend a good chunk of their “date” talking about their other potential love interests lends weight to this notion.
I do believe everyone is entitled to their own opinions, however, and Cleriths and Clotis should do their best to peacefully coexist. Maybe there was something genuine here between Cloud and Aerith - but it was abruptly cut short, and odds are we’ll never know if it could have grown into something more.

comparing this scene with clouds date with tifa is fascinating. he neither kisses aertith, unlike he does tifa, nor does he look at aerith longingly when the fireworks go off.
another thing i noticed is that he seems surprisingly eager during the theater performance when he’s performing with tifa (literally pulling her passionately towards him), while with aerith cloud does the performance is a very formal way and there doesn’t seem to be any noticeable chemistry unlike with tifa.
not to mention the fact that aerith and yuffie both have to literally drag cloud by the arm when entering the couples only area of nautilus, while he willingly holds tifa’s hand and walks with her out of his own free will.
there are many things one wouldn’t necessarily notice unless they either played the game more than once choosing different options or they compared the scenes side by side. but i swear, once you do you absolutely cannot unsee it. there’s much more i could say about cloud and tifa vs aerith but my point still stands lol. the devs have a favorite and so does cloud.

I gotta be honest I am all onboard with Tifa/Cloud but I'm kind of glad this is the date I got. To me, this is a really great example of how much Aerith wants/needs closure around what happened to Zack. She says no about Tifa talking to her because she wants CLOUD to tell her and tell her all about how they were friends SO MUCH but he's so scared of her hating him and hurting her. To me the hand hold/snuggle isn't romantic at all- it's just two people grieving together and comforting each other.
Yep - I wish there was SO much less toxicity in the FF7 fandom. I'm more character based so seeing both of them have growth is awesome.

They slept with eachother under the Highwind in the og game. Plus Aerith's whole initial attraction to Cloud is because she reminds him of Zack. Plus the mandatory date with Aerith at the endgame of rebirth lets her "know where we stand."

His relationship with Aerith looks like childs play, and the only reason Aerith took an interest in him is because he took on the personality of her dead boyfriend. Had Aerith known the true Cloud deep down, (who Tifa actually knows) she likely wouldn’t have seen her relationship with Cloud to being beyond platonic let alone a romantic relationship.
By listening to their voicelines in the game too, Cloud and Tifa are able to communicate beyond “we are on a date, let’s have fun.” In the interactions between the two during her side quest in chapter 7, they were talking about the past, and sharing their accomplishments with each other. Tifa expressed that younger Tifa would be proud of where she is now.
On his beach date with Aerith though, Aerith kept going on about how a date should be, or how Cloud should enjoy himself more. There wasn’t much deep conversations or anything that would come close to as meaningful as Tifa and his relationship.
The way I see it is that Aerith is his first love. It’s the puppy love. Relationship is playful, and exciting. But Tifa on the other hand is Cloud’s true love. The two go through hard times, but at the end of the day, Tifa is the one who brings Cloud back to his true identity. She is the one where they can both make each other better people. She is the one who actually knows the real Cloud and understands him on a deeper level.
Tifa genuinely loves Cloud.
