It's simple, really. Flat Damage is what you need FIRST. 100% of 1... is 1. So if I can get 2 Flat, or a 100%... that's 2 vs. 1. Early game, you aren't getting 100%, you're getting 10%. But once I have 100 Flat Damage, 10% is 10. Suddenly, that 10% is worth way more than 1 Flat... 101 vs. 110. And THEN if I get 200%, well NOW we get Big Numbies! But Percent does nothing if you don't have Base (Flat) to apply it to.
Yesterday I switched from a Bleed Warlock to a Torment Warlock (respecced). Did not understand why everyone is using the dagger "Ghost Maker". I did not see the added flat Necrotic damage all this time. Flat damage for abilities dealing small ticks of damage quickly (like DoTs) is nuts. Not that anyone thinks flat damage isn't still important for DoT. Granted, Torment doesn't need to be stacked up. It does its full damage potential as soon as it's on the target.
The best tip for dealing more damage is right at the character select screen, just click the rogue, and go falconer. Tadaa you now have the strongest damage infinitly scaling.
Now go to the guide and learn about the last sentence "more damage" its the one multiplicative modifier that ACTUALLY MATTERS, if you get x% "MORE" instead of increased, you will see some real numbers. (flat + added/increased x more/multiplicative) can also search your passives on skills etc for "multiplicative" instead of added/additive/increased which doesnt multiply your damage.
Fantastic video. Im running a bleed/smite/hammerdin build and am level 99. Trying to scale the damage a little bit so i can run T4 Julra to get the last items and legendaries i need
I could be just misunderstanding, but I have a question about the comparison at the 6:08 mark. You compared a fast attack weapon to a slow attack weapon. The fast attack had the raw damage, while the slow had the percentage. In this case, wouldn't the speed of the weapons be the defining factor in DPS? I feel the slower weapon would do more damage each hit, but slower, while the fast would do less damage per hit, but faster. In the case of using the slower weapon, wouldn't it then do more DPS if you have increase attack speed buffs?
I didn't see your sabretooth scaling tags, but pretty sure your pet now scales with minion cold damage, not overall cold damage. As far as +skills go, I have +skills on my spear for my blademaster mage.
thats my problem if i ever would want create my build. we need something like pob for poe where i can see damage i would do at higher level and fast rerolling tree items etc. now i can see what now i can deal getting this item but it about finding the best combinations for my build. and for minions this doesnt work either so i need to go to arena, attack dummy each time i change item..
Something that still have me wondering after 100+ hours in the game is the difference between +physical damage and +melee physical damage. If a skill have both melee and physical tags, do they both increase the damage of the skill? 🤔
@@ZucoWoW i find that the game fails to take into account that casting spells less often = more time to move. so in reality, melee in the game should do MORE damage then spells because it is more RISKY to melee then it is to cast a spell. personally, i think it is bad design but whatever. all good builds are not melee builds 9/10 except maybe void knight rive or like lethal from rogue.
so if i have 500 Fire spell damage 100% increase fire damage would = 500 more spell damage and 100 fire spell damage would be 100 more % wins if I have 50 Fire spell damage 100% increase = 50 so 100 fire spell damage wins So if the flat damage is king until a point then its far weaker. I still dont get how crit works tbh
I tried using the guide. It didn’t even have a definition for “haste” I thought it was movement and melee attack speed atleast, and maybe cast speed. I asked in global chat and turns out it’s just movement speed. I don’t understand why definitions like that aren’t in there 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
So how about pumping up DOT damage? right now im hitting a wall in one rotation i apply around 500 bleed stack + 220 poison stack...with my Falconer i use net + puncture with bleed/poison chance/damage and damage over time and minion damage over time the falcon alone put half of my stack, im not min maxed but when i fight bosses like lagon or orobys at high corruption i feel its hard i have some nodes that gives me more "global" damage and ennemy take increased damage, i shred resistance but never seen flat poison or bleed damage or maybe i missed the stats from somewhere
issue with bleed is the base dmg, it is very low hence hard to scale. You could possibly try getting the instant bleed dive bomb node. Bleed scales with generic DOT dmg and % phys dm,g and some bleed modifiers I think exclusive to warlock
Correct, there isn't flat poison/bleed damage in the game. The "Flat" version of those damage types are the DOT's they apply. If you look at the in-game manual (Press "G" in game), it says that each stack of bleed deals 53 damage over 3 seconds, and each stack of poison deals 28 damage over 3 seconds. Those are the base, flat numbers for those damage types. So scaling Damage over time or Increased % poison/bleed damage will improve that base number. The trick to DOT builds is applying MANY dot's very quickly AND scaling your damage over time number so that each stack of bleed/poison hits harder. For a DOT build, any +flat damage is automatically really bad, as it does nothing for you. I'm not actually sure if increasing Global damage will help with DOT's, haven't tested that enough. If you're hitting a wall, the only thing I'd suggest is checking your gear and passive points and making sure you don't have +flat damage anywhere. Pick up Ignite/poison chance on every single suffix on every pieces of gear and roll %increased poison/bleed damage on every Prefix you can. Remember that having more then 100% chance to inflict an ailment = more stacks of the ailment being applied on each attack. If you have 500% poison chance, you'll add 5 stacks of poison each time.
@@ZucoWoW very well done. You've given a very complex and well structured answer to their question :) I'm still not sure about pen, whether generic pen, let's say phys, scales the dot dmg or does it have to be bleed pen
