I always love how you break down the mental aspects of cleaning, decluttering, and organizing. You are so right that oftentimes we hold onto things because letting go can be so tough! Really enjoyed the story about the coloring drawer, so sweet you want Alex to have some of the same memories.
I just discovered #cleaningtherapy today.. The way you clean and organize really speaks to my soul. I loved how respectful you were about your husband's choices and how you helped him to get organized. We are all wired differently and as you pointed out that fact, you were careful to frame the difference positively. Some UA-camrs are more interested in "cute" and "pretty" office spaces. I needed inspiration leading to a functional office. You delivered in spades! Thank you, thank you, thank you! I have subscribed with alerts. Best UA-cam with practical advice.
This video was wonderful and massively helpful. As a person that has hoarding tendencies (a lot of years of working on it), I very much appreciate you touching on the mental aspect of decluttering and reorganizing. In this world of toss, toss, toss, it can easily become overwhelming for people like myself which in turn causes us to put it off indefinitely and neglect our wellbeing.
I use to definitely keep techy stuff. OMG cords, chargers, old phones, you name it. I cleared the office and did not put anything else in the basement. I'll get to the basement one day. I love that you changed strategy to fit your husband's needs. Your second strategy was the one used on me with my organizer, and I appreciated it so much. It became so much easier to donate things as we went through the process.
I love that you had him help, my husband is the same way. Such a good reminder that we are different and what helps one might make it worse for another.
Sophie suggested your channel. New sub here. This is brilliant, and extremely helpful! My best friend works full time, is in school (second Masters), and will be starting his new job the Monday after he leaves his current job (in 3 weeks). The new job is wfh. He’s a therapist, and his clients will be seeing him in his office over the monitor. 😱 The office is in dire need of decluttering and organizing. He also has ADHD, so this is an enormous challenge. I devised a guideline (like get rid of obvious garbage, move non-office stuff elsewhere, as the first two steps), and your video is a huge help. Thank you!
What a wonderful thing you did for your husband! Your patience was admirable! That kind of clutter causes great anxiety for some of us! Beautiful results!
After watching this video and Sophie's video I began to go through my office. Thus far I have decluttered about 1/2 of my office shelving unit. I will have a large box and a smaller box to donate thus far. I have more to do. Thank you for making this video and for the inspiration it gave me. Thank you for introducing me to Sophie's channel.
Haha! My husband is the SAME 🤣 meanwhile I’m like TOSS IT! 😆 he’s more neat & organized than me but he is also more of a hoarse than me *** HOARDER (not hoarse) LOL
I love how understanding you are that your brain works differently than your husbands on how to organize. I also just adore the story of your childhood memories with your Mom and Dad. Your Little Boy is going to have a wonderful memory to keep in his heart
I came over from Sophie's Channel and am so happy I did! Sophie said we would love you and she is right!! You won me over with the way you were able to convince your husband to declutter! You made a great team and his desk looks amazing! I am looking forward to the Spring Declutter Series. Between you and Sophie, my home will be transformed.
I love the way it turned out the desk....now he has more space to put school and family things.....you both did an excellent work, with love and no stress at all!!!! Lots of love and have a wonderful weekend!!!!
Jenny, I want to thank you so much for putting this video out. I am struggling with very same issue. I have a few rooms that are overwhelming and I just closed the door. It's on my to do list once I am healed from my surgeries. I have way too many papers I also like how you used the tacky strips on the baskets I like how you sort though your papers. You used the laundry baskets great idea. Yes I am going to join the challenge. Way to go Tony! So proud of you! Keep grinding.
Jenny, I found you by chance and I love your cleaning channel. It is very calming. I also deal with anxiety, depression, and frustration. I find cleaning therapy as well. (Also mindlessly watching UA-cam but then I feel I have wasted the day). Your music is calming as well and I enjoy your soothing voice. I am signing up for your checklists. Keep info coming!! Good luck with your channel.
Oh, thank you for your kind words! Mental health issues can be so brutal. I commend you for finding healthy ways to cope! 💪🏼 Thanks for joining the challenge and have a great weekend! 💗
Another amazing video, 👌 great idea for the drawers putting the sticky back on them great tip thank you 😊 xx Well done Tony that was some job 😀 xx I do have pages like them but I have them all in one book as I keep a bullet journal xxx thank you my friend always something to learn from your videos, love them xx 🙏❤🏴 xx
Hello Jenny i think I am more like Tony lol I keep everything I am 60 but still have souvenirs from when I was about 15 or less I. Took my daughters room and made it mine I draw or make paintings there but there is toooo much in it I even don’t remember what sometimes 🤨🤣 but I decided the whole week in the afternoon I will make it a lovely space thanks for your boost and it is so nice how you understand your husband his difficulties with letting go you do such a great job 😙🌹❤️
I’m helping my best friend change over from his office at work to his new job, in which he’ll be working with clients in his home office (over the monitor, not in person). I’m going to have him take pics of his current office, including in drawers, to see what he currently uses and how he organizes it. I think this will be a big help to me.
Thank you so much. Nice team you and the Hubby. I definitely need these types of videos. But my issue is how to sort out papers and stuff. What to keep. I have so much and yes emotionally overwhelming. I have always believed that.
Heyy Jenny! I really enjoyed this video. It turned out so good! You always do an amazing job anytime you organize, clean and declutter. I have been finding myself watching your videos and I just haven't commented a lot lately but I am here watching friend 😊. I also enjoyed your last video and when you were saying how you started looking at life as rewriting your story and I thought that was such a beautiful thought and I really enjoyed the story you shared about wanting to go back to school. It's never too late to accomplish anything you want ☺️ ❤️. Thanks for sharing Jenny!

This chair was fairly easy to put together, the instructions were clear and I was about to follow along with no issues at all. It took me about 20 minutes to assemble. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx5hPALGI87E991DRmXev8PUFJGrrRcONS I did stuff the back of the chair with a pillow so it wouldn’t be so hollow after taking all the pieces out but that’s just a personal preference. I also added a pillow for lumbar support because although this is a great chair and is comfortable, it’s not necessarily the best if you’re sitting 10+ hrs a day wfh but in all honesty for the price, I didn’t mind at all. It looks great in my space and easily adjusts the height when needed.

Nicely done. You need a rug to tie the room together. 🙂
I didn’t mean to put the affirmation of this because a rug wouldn’t work at all with hubby’s wheelchair. ❤️

Where would I find a checklist?
As someone who has always wanted to keep stuff, it was for the following reasons (but not limited to).
-- Sentimental value to me
-- I want to fix it someday
-- It might have sentimental value to someone else
-- It has monetary value if given to the right person
-- It would be a pain to get rid of due to disposal requirements
-- A collector might want it for historical value
-- I might need to retain for legal purposes
-- It might be good for a DIY or Crafting project someday
-- Guilt because it was a gift
-- I bought in bulk
I know this old, but I usually tend to keep hold of story ideas as well as notebooks, and my desk doesn’t really have any storage space so by the end of the week it usually looks like a tornado ran through it but my goal this year is to at least keep it organized
New here. Could you show and example of how you use the Brain Dump board? Or, if you have, could you share he link? Thank you.
The counter-part would be your husband going though your closet and asking what dresses etc you would like to throw away.
I made my office out of my messy small closet . Everyone likes it. I got alot of decluttering done. Still not done yet.

Paper clutter is my weak area... almost an addiction.
I had collected it all into 9 storage totes (16 gallon) and have been going through them. It has been TOUGH. I have 4 macro categories: work, personal, sentimental, and office supplies. I'm making good progress but this will probably take me months.
That’s a tough one! Best of luck to you as you make progress! 💗
Sometimes i know for sure that clutter builds up in my house for this reason: I don't necessarily have an attachment to the items or anything, but the amount of times that i have been told "just toss it, you can ALWAYS just buy another if you need to💁♀️" and then the times came when i needed items that i ignorantly threw away, but now couldn't AFFORD to wastefully buy another when i now NEED it.
