- Earthmovers in action: The first production D7E diesel-electric dozer to be seen working in Europe and the first built for landfill duties. On this site over 3 days, this not-yet-run-in dozer averaged 27 litres of diesel an hour.

Holly crap! The number of Seagulls is overwhelming. They're like mosquitoes near a pond.
I repair and maintain heavy equipment for Waste Management in the U.S. We just got a brand new D7E, still has "that new dozer smell"
We need new ones in Richland county the ones we have done lost the power and tend to break quite easily we run D6 don't ask me why they chose the 6
the constant flash of birds must drive you nuts
the smell was coming through my speakers
I work at a landfill and it smells horrible out there sometimes.
Le Tornneau did diesel electric dozers in 1960s. This is awesome idea. No transmission torque converters oil seals had lines clutch packs etc etc. Just final drive on electric motors. Awesome.
An excellent video showing why the D7E is such a fantastic machine. Can't wait to hear all about it in the next edition of Earthmovers
Great video of what seems to be an excellent piece of innovative machinery.
I love the engine sound and revving great video
That engine sound is glorious
Thank God for those birds. They re working too
talk about an awesome machine and a neat video!!Looking forward for the article in the magazine...
"Feckin' birds again."
- Father Jack Hackett
Alfred Hitchcock "birds" sequel, but ahh the beauty of heavy equipment.
Nice video.
R.G has done it for years. About time Cat caught on.
***** Not quite. R G LeTourneau out of Texas, the one that pioneered the electric drive system in heavy equipment..
those birds having a field day!!!!!!!!!!
I worked at Finning in west Edmonton in the'80s. Great place. ( damn those batteries were heavy.....)
Love those Cats
i had the pleasure of testing this in orange county it was cool
Yes, it looked like a stretched D-Series (David J Brown-designed) ADT with two waste skips welded together for the high-capacity body.
Oh that was awesome
Powerful stuff. And I've never seen so many shitehawks
fuckin shit hawk's
Nice video..
I wonder how many air fresheners are in the cab?
They need to run everything in the landfill through a grinder before spreading and let it dry and then generate electricity and only bury the ash or use it for fertilizer ,problem solved .
I don't think that would be as profitable than making trillion dollar landfills.
Really excellent footage of a landfill operation at work. I have to wonder where this site actually is; the main reason being is that I have seen (briefly) Cat 826G's in the past and the 836's are quite a bit beefier. I wasn't aware that the UK would have sites which would require such a beast? Love the CAT stretched ADT though, very innovative. If only I could access sites like these with my camera as machinery is where its at for me!
I'm currently working for a construction company as a part time job.
And?
Which landfill is this please?
..... all you can eat buffet for these birds
Wonder how many seagulls are crushed everyday
They r like flying rats
Not nearly enough by the look of it!
The best part is when a few seagulls get crushed because I'm sure it happens.
CAT feeds many birds . Yeah I`ve done the same job & didn`t get time to spit .
D7R is best landfill dozer I’ve seen so far. Holds up the best. 2002 year model. On its 1st certified Cat reman.
Looks like terex had it rite all along single lift ram, nitro filled gas cylinder for the tracks.
I get creeped out when these drive right next to me, the sound and the ground shaking are creepy
I know right, they dont look that big but when they're right next to you it's like damn son
I love that feeling
Holy fuck those birds tho.
Quase não tem pássaros! 😁😁
A diesel-electric drive, yes, but if that's a "hybrid" it sure has a mighty small battery as it appeared to me that the load on the engine exactly mirrored the load on the machine, as in not a hybrid at all. Still, pretty cool.
I think the only hybrid part was when it was in reverse. Otherwise you're right, full steam ahead!
Im not sure, but i'd reckon it is the same as a hydrostat, only with a generator supplying current to two electric motors,so it shouldnt need a battery. Not sure just guessing
Good god look at all the bird are they getting sick from all the bacteria? How many have you ran over ?
the 3 wheeled bomag is best for compaction.
No backup alarms?
tengo la incertidumbre de d7e elestrico que el potenciometro que lleva no te dice si obligas la maquina si o no
COOL
Someone has to do the job :)
My God it's like an Alfred Hitchcock movie
Already have in Asia now?
We call the pretty birds "dump ducks".
Sounds like a regular Diezelto me
The metropolis known as Winnipeg Manitoba...LOL!
How much do these guys make
should we worry about bird strikes like we do in windturbines
Electric but has a stack?
Location please ?
Ever thought about recycling????
I see a lot of good resources being wasted. Try visit a danish landfill. It would blow your mind how much less there is to work with.
Although the Danish tend to incinerate what can't be recycled, to generate electricity and heat their houses. That's another reason why.
do seagulls taste good?
It's snowing! O wait its just birds
My homemade RC Dozer could work there.
Allbutpukin!!
I like the dozer but going electric adds to more problems and downtime. And at the landfill I work at we ABSOLUTELY CAN’T AFFORD ANYMORE DOWNTIME!!!
Use the D pedal b4 changing directions!!!!!
poor mechanic that has to service it
It isn't that bad. Before it comes in for work, it is hit with high pressure steam and is thoroughly cleaned. It's the poor bastards dressed in bio-suits cleaning it who have the nasty job
stellymelly you are right.
kow much birds XD
Sorry Yitchack.i had spilt a cup of coffee on my keyboard and could not get caps lock off..cost me dear.had to get a keyboard and a motherboard .....
poor birds in the landfill
4:42 a bulldowser with no tracks?
Thanks for telling me
That's a compactor. It flattens out all of the rubbish in the landfill to maximise available space. The spikes on the wheels also serve to slit into any bin bags to allow the rubbish inside to biodegrade after burial.
Someone tell Alfred Hitchcock too get his birds out of there
And it doesn't really sound any different than a hydraulic drive machine with electrical controls. Looks like the 'green hybrid drive' thing was added to try and keep some people happy. It's all a trade-off anyway. You have to deal with the same problems with any power source. If it isn't electricity it's liquid. And since when this the balance make much difference. It's who sits in the seat.
yes those birds get run over all the time.
Keine Müllverbrennung??
Awesom dozer but isn’t it kinda how sad lad fills are
i would hate to have to clean that crap from those tracks
Idiots hear this and think it's electric, it is butt not like they think.
Basicly a generator on tracks turning 2 giant electric motor final drives and pump for the blade.
It is cool and probably a hell of alot more efficient.
Alot less steel moving alot less repair and down time .
Not any better for the environment though.
On the production end you have traded one material, steel for a dozen different materials cooper, cobalt, nickel etc. that requires strip mining all over the world where they burn enormous amounts of diesel fuel for production.
A solar plant in California was built.
It took 2 years at 10k gallons of diesel per week.
Math came out as 45 years for the clean energy to cancel initial carbon release, panels have a life expectancy of 20.
I love it and wish it were so and it will be one day.
Butt as my friends from out of town say,"Your just not ready yet."
I think its a bit overkill in a way, waste of a good machine on a tip, how long will it take to cean out all that crap from the tracks? If i bought one I would never use it for landfill applications, there is a dedicated machine for that kind of job and I believe using a dozer for this is a waste of a good machine like this. I i won the lottery Ide be buying one along with a chunk of land to practice on and pass the skills on to others.
gee wiz... why shout?
They used to have a video of this and a D9 blade to blade. This pushed it backwards but they were threatened to get sued by John Deere and Komatsu if they didn't remove it
I would hate to be the poor bastard that has to dig the undercarriage out on that . Wire cable ect
Possible site give me this company
I need to job
Job security.... just drive around but don't push anything
Why does a wonderful video about a hybrid dozer get juvinile comments about killing birds bumped as the top comments? Anyone who thinks killing birds for fun is an acceptable past-time is so immature that it is just very sad. We've all been there, but that was when we were teenagers. Are there that many teens watching this video and bumping up the "fun" of going on a killing spree?
I guess loading your tracks up with a ton of bacteria infected shit and debris will lower your center of gravity even more.
ElectronSpark are you serious? Have you ever actually been to a landfill? There are dozers made specifically for the trash dude. I don't understand why you even bring up bacteria. It's a fucking machine that lives outside it's whole life.
I thought my job sucks wow that must stink
wow what a way to run a landfill running the cats that deep into the pile they are dragging trash on to the pad the packer should be doin all the spreading n the cats should be feeding the pile but now they have twice the mess and twice the cover spread not to mention all the blow away from the pad so they are losing money all over the place not to mention mucking up the hood with nasty tissues from blow away bummer
+Sparks holy shit. someone who speaks my language.
Bring in the Chinese and there would be less seagull in no time.
no
csöppet kevés a sirály
bakker ez is csak beszél de magyarul azt már nem tud :P
Seagulls are fucked
Ah the dump. The best way to ruin a good machine..
So I wonder how many gulls get squashed per day then at a tip like this? Lol better not let the envoro-mentalists see that chart -theyde be going nuts! Aww the poor wee seagulls... blah blah! lol
What a dreadful job.
That is to much trash
Pushing 10% capacity. Get some training.
Nothing but problems!!! Do not buy!!!
That Garbage Tho 🗑️
That is to much trash
