I wrote my best riffs by listening to guitar rich music and mainly alternated between intricate progressive rock & heavy metal and then listen to Punk rock & Hardcore punk, I was able to both get a sense of intricate, complex, melodic and simple yet powerful riffs, hopefully this helps you write more riffs and have variety 🤘
What scales are you using? Try using Locran or Phrygian Dominant or Melodic Minor. They tend to sound great for thrash metal guitar. When making riffs, a common concept in thrash is to chug the low e string with a sequence of palm muted 8th note tremolos - blast out about four notes of said tremolo, alternate pick them, and try follow the bass/kick drum with them, once you fired out your four stroke, alternate picked, palm muted, eigh note tremolo (irl should take you like 3 seconds or so) then slip in a chord or a few chords of choice (power chords do well for riffs, but you can try making this dissonant by using some suspended and diminished chords). After you play the chord or chords, go for more tremolo palm mutes and then another few chords and, a tremolo plam mute and then finally something dramatic like an extra chord or just draw out some open power chords that you let ring out, something to make ot interesting. Think Angel Of Death - the iconic Slayer riff pretty much goes palm mute tremolo - Chord - Palm mute tremolo - Chord, Chord - short tremolo, then 6 open evil/dissonant sounding chords, then repeat. And when you make chords, in order to make them dark, make sure they descend in pitch as they progress. Just a few tips. Have a good day.
I just got back into playing drums, got a whole new kit and am in a Metal band now. These Thrash Metal drum tracks will really help me improve.

What tuning would be best for this drum track? I’m in standard E and it sounds good, but not bottom end on guitar.
Every tunning will work. It depends on what type of sound and aesthetic you're looking for. For example, E standard will make it sound more old school Thrash. Try Drop D, Drop C or D Standard and you'll see it'll sound immediately more modern and powerful.
